  1. They might hang onto a few core seats but their vote will be destroyed. I feel we'll start to move towards it. The Yes campaign need to keep active and keep on Westminsters case.
  2. Good that it is over. I think it is clear that Scotland wants extra powers, surprised 4 places voted yes in a majority. Personally I think this is the beginning of the end of the union as we know it. 45% is a lot of unhappy people and I think gradually we'll move towards federalisation. If the extra powers are diluted or not forthcoming the SNP will have a bigger stick however, and perhaps we'll be back here sooner than we think.
  3. Glasgow was awful on Saturday. However it was not all yessers causing grief from what I saw. People had been drinking early doors and that caused issues.
  4. Better than just breaking them as happens most of the time!
  5. Gus was still in charge and we played at Love Street when we last won 3 in a row. TC has to be bagged. Not a manager, horrendous record as one at other clubs. We deserve better.
  6. I'm not sure of your point. What Salmond told Nick Robinson about corporation tax was essentially true. Even if RBS is HQ'ed in London it would still pay Scottish corporation tax on profits it makes in Scotland because it has offices and branches here. Amazon pay UK corporation tax and has a London head office, what they do is for internet sales, claim they happen in another EU country (Luxembourg) and pay tax there.
  7. Correct. Indeed in some countries it is a rule of the road. Think Germany calls it zip merging
  8. That was based on more politicians spinning it that way, rather than my opinion as lets face it you've watched BT and Yes, you'll know you can spin anything! For me, a reduction in the financial risk for Scotland with RBS and BOS wouldn't be a bad thing, although right to question jobs / future investment. Scotland's banks grew way too big for Scotland and certainly too large for an independent Scotland. If Scotland had been independent in 1990, RBS / BOS certainly wouldn't be the size today, although I'll caveat that by saying it might have been reverse take-overs (ie Natwest taking over RBS). Obviously the future speculation on investment is just that, Scotland does have good financial staff so likely people will still come into Scotland for that resource. I do wonder on RBS whether we might see a return to a smaller RBS being used in Scotland and Natwest being the brand in England?
  9. RBS and Lloyds will undoubtedly re-domicile. Makes sense both for Scotland and the banks actually. Removes a very large banking risk from the Scottish economy and lets the banks place that risk right in the city. Scotland will lose some tax revenue, but on the risk/reward it might not be all that bad. Both RBS and Lloyds won't change much about their businesses here as they've had major London operations for years and it is unlikely to move many jobs. Most of the functions undertaken here can still be done in Scotland, and would be cheaper to do here than in London. Indeed if Salmond was smart, he could spin this as a very good thing, it might make his currency union seem more sensible as there would be no Scottish banks to bail out (well unless you worry about Airdrie Savings Bank!)....
  10. Some of the cars I've driven could not get near a ton on the motorway! Some right poor cars I saw the police out on Brockburn Road again this morning at the fire station. It's pointless speeding in the morning rush hour as you'll get stuck in the queue anyway for Pollok Roundabout but they had caught an Astra.
  11. Ooft PMQs cancelled to let them come to Scotland for a visit. The No side must be in trouble.
  12. Funnily enough, there was a recommendation from papers to buy Standard Life shares on Friday! That was largely based on the sale of a Canadian asset. I think Standard Life, in terms of the books would be largely unaffected by independence and it will keep ticking on. Whether they retain as much operations in Scotland is more uncertain. They are such a large firm I suspect people will trust them. Peston was speculating that certain financials may move south, but energy companies were looking north.
  13. Similar to the system Glasgow Rugby had with 'any game tickets', they even did single any game tickets. Can see the logic in this- trying to get people who would pay at the gate on occasion for some games to upgrade to this and be dragged along to more matches. They might like it and even stay a bit longer. I think there is a concern however that people who currently buy ST but can't go to every game, downgrade to save money.
  14. Or is that a polite way of saying he's lost his form.
  15. The Dunfermline game was too expensive, which didn't help. Had they done ticket and curry for £25-£30 it would have been good. League 1 opposition and with us playing so poorly. I spent the money going out on Tuesday rather than to the football.
  16. It's a strange case. I listened to a discussion on Radio 2 about it and nobody could follow the logic. I have sympathy with the parents who obviously want the best for this kid, but a midnight flit from the hospital after a bit of googling to get a treatment in the Czech Republic by taking the kid to Spain to sell a house? They had a consultant on who explained that, whilst he had not seen the patients notes, the proton therapy is only good for certain tumours and the NHS have a panel which reviews this to determine whether it clinically would be beneficial to the patient. Must have been a serious communication break-down here between the hospital and the parents, and whilst the parents would be under stress, just taking an ill kid from a hospital without telling the staff was only going to lead to a man-hunt.
  17. I think there will be a couple of key points. The next 4 games will be crucial. Fail to win by October and we could see him in trouble. Even if we do have a slight upturn, the Ross County game will be crucial. After that the next international break could well be the deciding point in November.
  18. Agreed, the 'superfan' pish is exactly that. We're all supporters and we all want to see what is best for the team. Equally nothing sends a quicker message to the BOD that the natives aren't happy than low attendances.
  19. Depends if you include cup games. In 2012/13 we did Celtic, Inverness and St Johnstone, 3 in a row, but that includes 2 cup games. We also did 8 games without losing between January and March 2012 although most were draws. The last time we did 3 in a row in the league was with Gus in charge in December 2008 when we were leaving Love Street. We gave the ground a good old send off by winning all 4 games in December, only stopped by Motherwell drawing the last game at Love Street on 3rd January. We beat Falkirk away 2-1 Inverness at home 2-0 Kilmarnock away 1-0 Hamilton at home 1-0
  20. To be fair I was out cycling yesterday and a guy with a Yes sign in the garden on the A77 had his walls spray painted with No. Utter arseholes on both sides of the debate.
  21. I doubt it. Both Aberdeen and Motherwell games at Killie had cash turnstiles and I don't see why this would suddenly change. Used to be it was cheaper to buy the away tickets in Paisley- £20 rather than £22 on the day.
  22. Under Gus we'd have drawn that game 0-0. The highlights are interesting "we could play all night and not score" clearly picked up at one point. Wouldn't surprise me if we failed to score even after United had packed up were back in Dundee. Woeful. Watching the highlights it shows Plummer going up for the header for the 1st. Wasn't a great idea, but Cheesy is just beaten all hands down by Erskine, only Tesselaar manages to get across to cover. Dundee United's 18 year old kid from Queens Park looked good and more likely than any of our players to find the net, which he did with an assist from McAusland. Our players showed no fight, after the second went in, heads down and it was hiding mode. Rapidly falling out of love with it. We aren't entertaining, we aren't competent, we don't score. We showed zero ambition with our managerial appointment. Quite frankly not been so despondent with the team for many years.
  23. If we had a bunch of defenders who had a clue we might have not lost that game, and equally the Dundee game. Not saying we'd have won, but there you go. The only positive compared to last season at this stage is we're creating some chances, albeit fluffing them. Wonder what they do at training though. Great facilities for a coffee and a laugh from 10am to 12pm? Not think of practising free-kicks or corners to perfection? Manager is really under pressure and needs a big couple of results.
  24. Sorry but it was the wrong appointment. I was willing to give him a chance, but this is embarrassing 4 games and we haven't scored. Scraped past a L1 side in the cup. We should do what Ross County did and bite the bullet early. How the f*** can Hamilton come into the league, with what you have to assume is a low budget and out play us and end up with 4 wins from 5? We can't even score!
