  2. That's why I was talking to Billy. Seemed he last met JM in the Viking bar up Lambhill way a few years back...during Aber's "dark period", so he had no recollection of the fine detail. I think they'll all meet up soon, as I think the 3 of them all live within a few miles of each other. Anyway, back on topic: You're selling a house. You ask gag-ga money for it. To your amazement, someone agrees to this price. Nobody else is bidding.....yet the ga-ga price remains as is, despite all the trouble the buyer has in getting his mortgage. The buyer doesn't even seem to say, "Fancy knocking the price down a bit so I can get the last bit of finance sorted out, after all I don't see a queue forming behind me". It's a simply ludicrous situation, and despite all his bluster, SG isn't quite making sure that the deal "is the best for SMFC", as the basic fact is that the CIC is being landed with a debt that is unjustifiably large due to an inflated selling price in market conditions. That's no fault of the CIC, which is a perfectly good business model, and potentially revolutionary for the ownership of provincial football teams. The actual running of the CIC is quite another matter, but at least that can be influenced by supporters. If I was SG I would be playing it poker-faced, and doing my best to "help them over the line"....as nobody in the world, unless you get that guy from Largs and fill him full of Prozac, cocaine, and sausage rolls, will pay £2m for SMFC in 2011. No wonder the deadlines are irrelevant. It MUST be close to coming through, as that SG recent interview was practically premature ejaculatory on his behalf, but who could blame the old philanthropist. HE ONLY WANTS WHAT IS BEST FOR SMFC, as we have been told repeatedly over the years. So it must be true.

  4. It seemed effortless and a real high point of the 89-91 era. You never know.....
  5. ...I'd be found floating face down in the F&C canal off Balmore Road if I pulled that stunt PS Aber last week: "We just need Big Doug, or a Luther or a Macca and we are Top 3 certs". And before any comments are made, he's still in "good health" (ie. dry)...although getting so carried away about Saints that it can only be put down to spending too long in Fitzy's company
  6. .......and nobody else is going to come along and offer anything like the £2m the CIC is prepared to pay, which is why SG &Co are more than happy to stick this out for as long as it takes. I'd do precisely the same - as long as there is no other "real" option from someone else, and there doesn't appear to be. Unless SG has a costly crack habit, I'm sure he can toddle along as he is right now, likewise the rest of the current BoD. Who knows, maybe GLS will come up with the extra funding if he is such a fan of the CIC model ? I don't expect anything else other than a CIC takeover, but who knows when.
  7. SWR....what a pro ! 21 years ago http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3XIlEUO-VE
  8. Don't know him....but he was walking down Bridge St beside me, all the while munching on the fine cuisine from Greggs ! Once shared a table with Tony Wilson at San Carlos (restaurant Fergie uses) , and he was a complete gent. My missus and his companion were both away powdering noses, leaving Tony and I to systematically rip Coldplay apart
  9. Superb......and I saw Barney in MCR this week, eating a Greggs sausage roll on the hoof #rockandroll
  10. I'm pretty sure that this was the infamous gig that was the Guinness Book of Records "Loudest Ever" for many a moon The Who manager of the day Bill Curbishley had younger brother Alan co-running merchandising sales. He would work again at this ground
  11. Francis Rossi looks/sounds like he's smoked a bale of ganja......which is probably not far from the truth. Ace
  12. DMC - all 3 of the above are superb choices ! are 'ey la'
  13. Nah. I'll settle my scores by running you & your inbred brethern down the Darwen Road when the Trotters come a calling for the inevitable relegation 6-pointer (And "yes" that was gash to the power of 1000 against Man U. £16m for Cahill ? £16 if I was running the tribunal)
  14. There's no point in putting the boot into Sid over all of this........ All you need to do is go through every thread on the CIC Forum from the beginning, right up to the last few days, and randomly peruse any the vehemently held views & beliefs of the deceased ex-Pistol..........and then go to the KMG thread, where you will find Sid preaching some form of laid-back common sense, and correctly proclaiming that the most important thing is the club. Albeit in the style of several posters who were vilified on the CIC forum, but let's not split hairs. Regardless of "previous", everyone has the right to change their minds. Consortium members included if some of the posts on here are anything to go by ! If the CIC does "fail to launch", then Sid may well have been left looking a bit daft given 99% of his posts on the CIC Forum (although his "Comical Ali" role was surely being hammed up ?)....but that's probably mainly the fault of those feeding him the lines. If that day comes, then Sid will be entitled to reflect on his former bandmate John Lydon, whose very final words as a Sex Pistol were "Ever get the feeling you've been cheated ? Goodnight" 2m48s.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a71_91srz0I SG has always said he would only sell to those who had the best interests of SMFC at heart.....and that is what will always be the case I would hope. For all anyone knows, the CIC will take over on Thursday @ 4pm, and all of this is beyond any fan's control, so let's just relax and wait for the next episode of the soap opera......
  15. That "pop" noise you just heard was Stu Dickson. He'll be very happy, and consequently he won't be on this site for a while, which will make Sid very happy. Love is all around indeed.
  16. Brentford FC used to / still do rent out their roofs to airlines - 1 minute from take-off/landing @ Heathrow, and also visible from the A4 elevated expressway (a wee bit like the Linclive spur @ St.James). As opposed to Love Street, there is currently very little emotional attachment to the new ground, so pimping the naming rights is fine by me, provided me don't end up with the Poundland Stadium, etc.
  17. The "signing" of GLS is a very positive step, and must go a long way to reassure those of us who may have been in favour of a CIC concept, but had reservations as to how it would be run efficiently. Can't think of anyone better for the role, and I'm sure he'll unite most (if not all) to get right behind the CIC. Throughout many of the online debates GLS had been championed as some kind of "leader of the disenfranchised 48%" - a position that none of his actions merited. Hopefully, his talk of unity will be heeded. Take a look at the moral and fiscal basket cases that are littering the SPL - especially after tonight. If run properly, this CIC does present an opportunity to pull clear of the stinking mire. PS Maybe REA has the hide of a rhino, but this week he politely answered some queries I raised via e-mail, and in a reverse of the Keegan meltdown, he "went up in my estimations".
  18. My apologies for anything I have done that may have besmirched the good name of the forum. Actually that sounds too much like Donald Findlay post-"Masonic-sing-song-gate". I'll resign instead. A bientot mes amis ;)
  19. Sid - I cannae be arsed anymore. Your ability to warp and twist is astonishing. Let's just avoid each other.
