Was he ? I dont remember Imrie getting enough starts to have formed an opinion about his usefulness or uselessness.

Defo not needed in the rumour mill.

I thought Naismith was ok in the 2nd half. We had 4 CBs on the pitch at the same time today. Thommo missed an easy chance in the first half and then just moaned at the ref for the rest of the game. Teale could get past the full back any time he wanted. Harkins is wasted up front but I thought he done ok.
The keeper looks absolutely shocking today. Looking at the bench there was only 1 player over 21 and that was Lee Mair and i'm convinced he wasn't even there,

Morton wanted it more and got what they deserved from the match.
We gifted them goals, but to find fault in the 'keeper for the third is a bit churlish - we'd have been raving about the strike had it been at the other end.
Kelly wasn't great on the day, but I think some of the comments regarding Naismith are harsh - I thought he looked pretty decent and linked well with Teale on a few occasions.
Far too early to judge Cornell or Harkins, though the former did look a bit nervous at times, and Harkins, while demonstrating a bit of flair, lacked mobility and didn't seem to cover much ground. The end product was missing from his game this afternoon, and his two freekick opportunities were disappointingly tame efforts.
I thought McGregor did okay considering what he's been through, and McAusland didn't do a great deal wrong. As a unit, however, the defence didn't gel at all well.
McGinn had an off day - he was very quiet this afternoon - and Thompson didn't seem to be as fired up as might have been expected against our Inverclyde neighbours.
All in all, the result doesn't mean a great deal, but the performance was concerning. Let's hope it was pre-season malaise and nothing more, though it is blatantly obvious that the squad needs bolstered.
One final message to the crew who decided to give Imrie abuse from the off. Don't you get it, folks? All this achieves is to fire the player up, and it was as good as guaranteed that he would have the last laugh. In any event, why abuse the guy? Pretty embarrassing stuff, to be honest.

Look on the bright side, Tommy's pitch was beautiful.

The Keeper was a nightmare can we send him back down to wales before we start the season as with this young lad in goal we are going to have to score 5 goals to win any game.
also Cheesy and McGregor looked lost against first division players what will they be like when we face better teams.
not looking forward to the upcoming season after being embarrassed today.
Dougie Imrie gave danny lennon a deserved kick in the balls today by playing how we wanted him to play for st mirren.

I reckon we should put in a bid for the Morton No 7 - he was the best man on the park today

I said when he first broke into the team that John would be the first player to earn us 1 million pounds but only if he continues to progress, but not yet he needs a full season of playing in the first team to truely develop his potential.

He did say we were interested. If we aren't interested, the question has to be, why aren't we?
We don't have any goalkeepers and one with significant experience is available on a free transfer. Even if we don't get him, we should at least be interested.

If someone gave me £120 a week to play football at 18 I'd have been f**king delighted. Getting paid to do something you enjoy, and that millions dream of doing?
As for having £120 "to live on", I'd expect he's living with his parents, so he's basically got a £120 a week to go out and play with. Plenty of time to make more money if you're good enough.
If he doesn't like it he can do one.

I honestly feel a bit priveleged watching the guy playing for us after only three matches, a bit I suppose like Killie fans when the had Eremenko. There's something really special there that seems to say he's destined for far bigger things. He's a total joy to watch with ball at his feet and every time he picked it up today, you could hear folk in the ground rippling with excitement.
I promise you this, there are fans all over Scotland casting envious glances at us for the likes of Isma, Thommo, Teale and McGowan. It feels nice to be on the good end of the glances for once.

The midfield changes that often, Robertson has not had a chance to settle in the first team. He needs time to bed in and then he will settle into a good back to front midfield player. The prancing pony that is Mclean needs to make way for someone who's willing to do a shift and put the foot in when it's needed.

Thanks for the insight. I agree too - he was better being allowed to stroll around the pitch and control play. Having him and Hasselbaink supporting Thompson towards the season's start was pretty tasty but Teale faded fast when asked to play the winger's role. Teale can still beat a man, but more in the way that McGowan does by keeping the ball close to his feet. When he's played as a winger, he tries to beat them with pace and it doesn't work any more. Teale still has something to offer the team if used properly, but if we could get him off the wage bill it would be a big bonus I think. Besides, we have McGowan in that role and he's top notch.

I have no doubts that Gary Teale is a good player. He was outstanding at the start of last season and I picked him out there and then as a probably player of the season. He was pulling the strings and had a free role across the attacking third of the pitch.
However, we seemed to try and change him back into a winger again. He has lost his pace, and his decision making lets him down too often to be a good winger at this level any more. If we keep him this season, we should play him in a central role as others have suggested.
I wouldn't have any qualms with him signing for Rangers. How amazing would it be if Rangers ended up signing probably the one player most fans wouldn't be bothered about leaving us, after years of signing or speculating about signing our best players.
