FYI, Eric Paton is a much more highly rated defender than Mikey McGowan , and it took Danny long enough to make up his mind about him.

We've had several right-back trialists over the past 3 months , I wouldn't be surprised if we tried to sign DL's ex Partick team-mate Eric Paton.

This track record you speak of was marred by an horrendous start including the only defeat from Brechin City in our history. Were you calling for Gus's head back then the way you are now with Danny , or weren't you too interested because we were a lower half 1st division club? Whoever is in charge should be given more than 7 games to prove that they're up for it anyway. Gus did ok for 3 years , but after that he started believing his own press and in his eyes was bigger than the club itself. He was lucky to last as long as he did !

By titling your thread in the way that you did , you were gloating , in true Gusophile style , that Danny was going to be copying your hero Gus , in that we would need to become hard to beat. What Danny actually said I'm not too clear about , because any reference to the previous manager is a turn-off for me , so I didn't read it !

Funnily enough I mentioned the likeness to the Humphries , cheap option , situation during Saturday's game. The major difference is that the standard of current player at the club has been stripped bare due to the BODs reluctance to make any sort of money available despite our strong and safe financial position, whereas Humphries had some decent money to spend , bringing in the likes of Jim Blair(back from Hibs) for 30k and he already had good young players in Ally McLeod , Bobby McKean, Iain Munro and Gordon McQueen at the club.
