  1. The only way I could see that being the case is if we're working on a deal to bring several loan players in from one club, like we used to from Newcaslte. But that would do nothing to hold up any potential deal for Sutton.
  2. Came very close to putting that into my list. We were excellent that day, under immense pressure.
  3. At home to Morton in '97; Got to be a mascot for my 10th birthday, kick about with a few players in front of the north bank, then a great game and a 2-1 win. Away to Ayr in '00; Paul McKnight's screamer for a 2-1 win, always sticks out in my mind as being more dramatic and tense than the Raith game, where we always looked comfortable. Great day. Away to ICT in '06 Another 2-1 win, first game back in the big time, coming from a goal down Keano and Sutton doing the business. Huge traveling support that day too. Amazing. Away to Motherwell '07 The great escape, I'll never forget that game as long as I live, just knowing Big John was going to smash it in, the moment it broke to him, it was always ending up in the net. Celtic at Hampden '13 Not allowed to pick the final, so this will do. Brilliant performance, Goody doin' a "Broonie", Isma's debut goal, Sammy's save, Gowser's cool penalty, Thomo's volley and the celebrations that followed. Oaft!
  4. It was fairly comfortable in the end. Looked like we were never going to score, think we hit bar or post 3 times before we actually found the net. If one or 2 of them went in, it could have been a much more competitive game.
  5. I think Gallagher looked far more useful when he got a chance through the middle, I'd be more excited about the prospect of him doing the hard work, running off a guy like Sutton, with Clarkson as back up. His pace and tenacity makes him useful enough as a winger, but he's not a natural wide player.
  6. Again, don't remember him with us, but he's been around long enough at this level, decent
  7. He's not turned into the world beater that we were promised he would be, but he's a full international for a reasonably good side. I don't think his flourishing is directly due to him leaving us, as seems to be implied by the opening post, but it can't be denied that he has flourished to a certain extent. He was released by a relatively poor St Mirren team and now, at 25, plays for one of the better clubs in a decent league and for his country. It's undeniable that his career has been on an upward trajectory since he left us.
  8. We've drastically improved under Rae, he deserves time to properly put his mark on the squad. He wouldn't have been my first choice when he was appointed, but he's done well to steady the ship, we're moving in the right direction. Even the very biggest clubs don't get every player on their wish list, it all depends on how good your plan B is, I think Rae has earned some patience. It's early days and we've made 2 signings, that's more that most clubs.
  9. A decent player at this level, was he not on the bench for the cup final?
  10. Quinn falls into the same category as guys like Gary Mason and Mark Reilly for me. Works away steadily in the back ground, does much of his work off the ball and is much easier to notice when he's not there, rather than when he is. Most good sides have one of those players and their usually underrated.
  11. I'm sure we're trying, but for now he's going back to Aberdeen, we need to plan for life without him.
  12. Watson's had a very good season for us, and deserves the chance to play at a higher level, sadly, that's where we are as a club. We have Naismith and Irvine contracted for next season, paying 3 first team quality right backs makes no sense. I know Watson can play at centre half, but so can Naismith. Watson moving on makes sense. Good luck to him.
  13. We would definitely have kept him if we could.
  14. Laughable. The only shower who get a similar number of dodgy decisions to that mob are the dead club. The ugly sisters get all the 50/50 decisions and most of 40/60s and 30/70s as well, they always have done. They still have the cheek to moan? A bunch of delusional halfwits.
  15. First time I've managed 2 in a row in ages! Yas! Looking forward to it.
  16. It's a short career, you'd need to be daft to not want to squeeze every penny you could out of it. Thompson's a different situation. He's a St Mirren fan, who wanted a few years playing for his team, he had made his money long before he signed for us. If I was Alex Rae talking to a youngster, who told me the sum of his ambitions was to play for St Mirren, I'd be very concerned about their future in the game. Sure, their immediate goal should be to break into the first team, but beyond that, all these guys should have their eye on the next big move, and the next big contract. It's what will drive them to play well for us. We just have to accept that's the role of a club our size.
  17. Aye, prefer the 7s goals. Played on the Linwood pitch loads of times and really liked it, great surface and well looked after, which I think is the big difference from the dome. Desperately needs some attention
  18. Just realised I forgot to update my phone number on Teamer. I've changed it now, but it's been different since October, so I don't know if I've missed any invites or that.
  19. Take it this fell through then?
  20. Legend is an over used term in football, but Vanzy truly is. A league title and 2 Cup wins. A gent into the bargain. Would be delighted to have him back at the club in any capacity.
  21. He'll be missed, very few clubs in Scotland have so many youngsters come through to become first team regulars. It's an opportunity he couldn't turn down, good luck to him.
  22. Couldn't agree more. It's a short career, if You had the chance to see the world and swell your bank balance, you'd be daft not to take it. I know people talk about loyalty a lot in football, but most of these guys have families, it very rarely bothers me when a player moves on for a bigger pay packet. It's exactly what I'd do.
