  1. I would only really play 11s in a league. I've played in 5s and 7s leagues before and not really enjoyed it. I play these games for a laugh, so I can shoot from the halfway line and try tricks and flicks I know I can't pull off. When you play in a League people take it too seriously, I can't be bothered with all that. For me It's 11-a-sides for competitive football, everything else is a kick about, I want to win obviously, but it's more for fun than anything else...

  2. Open invite to anyone who fancies a game of 5s tonight, at the Power League in Paisley.

We always play on a Monday night but for whatever this week we have had 5 call offs, managed to get a few people, but we still need 2 bodies.

It's a really mixed group in terms of ability, so anyone's welcome to play. It's at 9:30 and it's £3.85 each.

If anyone wants to play give me a shout on here and I'll get back to you. I can probably sort out a lift for anyone in the Paisley/Johnstone/Linwood area...

  3. Unless someone leaves I'd be very surprised to see us sign a centre half. We have McGregor, Goodwin, McAusland, Mair, Barron, Van Zanten and Naismith who can all play there. Many of them aren't natural to that position, but they're more than good enough for emergency cover

  4. Doesn't matter what formation we want to play, getting another striker in is essential. We can shuffle things around and cover the holes we have at left back and in midfield, but there's no cover up top. Thompson is fantastic, and I've got really high hopes for Thomas Reilly, but with Guy leaving we're terribly short up front, if we ever play a 4-4-2 we won't even be able to name a striker on the bench.

I don't think we need to sign a world beater, just some sort of cover, someone with a bit of experience preferably. Like I said, Thomo's a great player, but to play the whole season as the only senior striker in the squad is a lot to ask, even from him.

For what it's worth I'd like to see us stick with the 4-2-3-1 we used for most of last season, with dangerous players like McGowan and Harkins in the centre of the park it could prove to be very effective.

  5. You can play in either. I've switched between the two over the weeks thinking each time that the other pair were the problem for my poor touches. But I soon realised, it's all divs fault. Looking forward to seeing quite a few new faces! Posted Image

Good to know! I turned up to play 7's in Pollokshaws a few weeks ago and got moaned at for wearing mouldies. Also, I can assure you that my poor touches will be nothing to do with my boots...if I though that I'd have written a strongly worded letter to Nike years ago...

  6. Although we have several midfielders, we still lack a true centre mid, someone in the middle of the park who does the lot. McGowan, McLean, McGinn and Harkins are more attack minded, Goodwin is more defensive and Robertson is a box to box type. If we're going to play the 3 in the middle, we need a guy who truly belongs right at hear of midfield, who can defend when he has to, and pick a pass when he can. That's Arfield down to the ground. Creative but disciplined.

Makes sense to me...he'd be a fantastic signing. Must have been on a fair wage at Huddersfield though. Hope this one isn't a wind up!

  7. I thought it was pretty common knowledge that we were interested, whether or not an approach was ever made is a different story. Either way it seems like we'll be priced out of this one. We couldn't match, never mind top the £50k that's already been rejected. I would imagine he'll end up at Rotherham, they'll come back with more money and a nice fat pay check for him. Morton have most likely just rejected that bid to squeeze a bit more money out of the deal, and rightly so.
