I'm sad to say we lost another life long St Mirren fan at the weekend there in Jimmy Cooper. His son Peter asked me to put up a post to let fellow buddies know who knew him, where and when the funeral is.

Tuesday 22nd Dec at 12 at Woodside Paisley Crematorium.

Jimmy Cooper and Derek Menzies were the reason Peter, myself and many of our friends became buddies over 20 years ago. So they have a lot to answer for. Why couldn't they be Barcelona fans!? They will dearly be missed.

I still remember the day he bought me an extra season ticket to go along with his son to sit in the North bank. Once I heard the songs and banter that day, I was hooked. Many years later at the cup final I got to thank him for making me a st mirren fan.

Had a great night out in Paisley tonight with a number of the regulars. Still kitty money left and plans of another night out in February when we hope to win our first league game against Dumbarton. #weareshit :-(

Cameron Howieson was being interviewed by BBC Alba up at the Saints exhibition at the Museum this afternoon.
His great-great grandfather was James Howieson, a member of Saints' 1926 cup winning team, and he was being interviewed about this for a piece that'll be shown before the Raith Rovers game next Friday.

St Mirren are on the down side of a long curve just now, reasons varied, but principally the football team has suffered resulting from the stringent frugality applied to the club. The for sale mentality has penetrated into the psyche if the club , the disdain of the supporters all too evident.
Am I surprised, not one bit , I am disappointed , 100% I am, but it doesn't make me support the club any less.
It's just a shite state of affairs.
It's like the longest bout of constipation ever visited on mankind supporting this lot just now.

I thought the main purpose of the academy was to help source a good proportion of the first team squad, rather than bring through players into the first team and sell them after a few good games? In recent years it has provided us with first team players in the shape of Stephen McGinn, Marc McAusland, Kenny McLean, John McGinn, Thomas Reilly, Sean Kelly, Jason Naismith, Jack Baird, Steven Mallan, with more coming through this season. 3 of those players have League Cup Winners medals with us, and 3 of them brought in transfer fees. In the end McLean had almost 5 seasons with the first team, McGinn had 3 seasons with the first team, Naismith and Kelly are into their 3rd season as well.

We've just sold 2 players in 6 months, both for 6 figure sums, one of which with a sell on fee. Not sure what your point is here?
