saint in exile reacted to stlucifer in St Mirren v Hibernian SPFL Premiership 8/11/23
Just back from the game and looked up the Beebs coverage. I couldn't believe SRs comment.
"I thought the boys were terrific. One of our best performances of the season against a very good Hibs side"
It must look totally different from the dugout. Absolutely dreadful performance for at least two thirds of that match.
We stood so far off Hibs that they could have made a cuppa and had a fag before making their next pass.
Still. Another point to add to a handsome total.

Fortunate point tonight. Too many players not at their best. Gogic, Strain, McMenamin, O'Hara all below par. But a point's a point and we'll take it. Oh, and Newell is a dirty bastard.

Yes, lucky in that VAR picked it up, and the ref saw enough in it to give the penalty. I've seen enough of those NOT given, and if it was at the other end we'd all be saying no penalty. As for the draw, yes it was the right result in the end, but that doesn't mean we deserved it.

Nonsense, that was a dreadful performance. Too many mistakes and sloppy play.
A lucky point but great for Jamieson who made a brilliant contribution.

I’m going to say something that’ll sound a bit daft (no like me), but I think being fortunate to get the draw and deserving to get the draw and two different things and I think they both apply.
We deserved a draw because we put as much into the game tonight as Hibs, but make no mistake we were fortunate because we were largely f**kin honkin tonight and a better team would have seriously punished us. We defended terribly, in particular Gogic and Strain. We had players falling all over the place and losing possession in dangerous areas. Baccus was terrible when he came on. Barely did a thing right. The midfield generally had a very rare off night.
On the upside, Tanser was once again outstanding for 90 minutes. Greive was excellent in the short time he was on, as was Jamieson. I thought McMenamin worked hard and put in a good few dangerous crosses that no one got on the end of.
All in all though, I think we should be pretty grateful for that point, especially so late in the game.

That's the first game I have clear memories of, even though I know I was at plenty before that with my old man. We were in the Love Street end of the terracing, surrounded by **** foaming at the mouth.

Apparently, someone thinks that because the funding wasn't granted and, even if it was, it would have required SMFC approval for the plan to go ahead, that nothing of note has occurred. The fact that Kibble used the SMFC charity name in their proposal without consent and presented SMFC land to be used in their proposal without consent, seems to not matter a jot to someone.
As I have previously said, it's about the trustworthiness of those involved. -

Let’s not forget that when Kibble were introduced to us, we were promised a different approach and a new , better level of professionalism.
I don’t know if this debacle has been Under hand or a basic error but one thing it’s hasn’t been is Professional.

The biggest point to me is, if they have done this once, how many other times have they done something similar, or how many times would they have done something similar if they had got away with this time.
It's not really about the scope of the "crime", it's about the trustworthiness of those involved.

reason 506 why we need a new vote on keeping VAR. No consistency whatsoever. Why was this passage of play not allowed to continue while Mandron’s was for a check?
putting aside the sheer incompetent officiating, given they both were completely wrong decisions. We are around a year in & seeing little to no improvement on decisions and approach.

Another hard fought win and a great 3 points but, by God, we don't make it easy for ourselves. We hardly won a a second ball in the second half, and we gave them so much space down our right. Their left sided players were allowed to run for f**king miles without a challenge. Even so, we're still up there!!!
And 3 goals chalked off? 3??? Mandron's was a thing of beauty. I couldn't follow the ref - he'd point one way and give the free kick the other.

Hard fought win. Not the greatest performance, but kept at it and got the points. The referee was shite - gave us nothing!

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Dunne on for Taylor.
I’d also consider Olusanya for McMenanin and Small for Tanser.

Shite performance on a shite pitch against a team of hammer throwers. Fortunate to get the draw, but we'll take it all the same.

When our squad is training, doing the "attack v defence" routine, I wonder which one wins? Cos the defence cannae defend and the attack cannae win a ball in the air.

Well, that was shite. Dunne a donkey, as usual. We couldn't win any ball that was crossed into their box. Defence was a joke for their goal. Wonder waht lame excuses we'll get today?
