I think this must been the first time I have experienced what it feels like for, a St Mirren manager being poached by another club.
I have witnessed 2 national cup competition wins, so it goes to show what an unusual event this is.
Obviously a testament to the great work Ross and Fowler have done while they wee here at St Mirren
And it illustrates what a great job Scott and the rest of the board did in employing Ross in the first place.
Hopefully the board can do just as well in employing a new manager this time.  They have a spectacular record so far!

Can't complain about Ross moving on.  He stayed to make sure we won the Championship which was as much as we could hope for.
Regarding the manner of his leaving, I'm sure this has a lot more to do with Sunderland than it does with Ross.  Especially as the initial contact was probably through an agent.
Sunderland would have known they were up to major skullduggery

And he was saying yesterday that we already had a plan in place for Ross' departure , and that we'd be signing a player on Thursday and another one today.
As much as I love the guy, it's impossible to take anything he says seriously.

Definitely no to Hopkin for me
His horrible brand of anti-football is the last thing I'd want to see at St Mirren
I don't think that many of the current squad would fit his playing style, so that would mean a major overhaul of the team.  Which would make the task substantially harder for Hopkin.
In addition Hopkin's assistant  is a convicted drug dealer.  Best steer well clear of Hopkin.

    I don't think he'll be gone either
The guys from Barnsley on here make a good case, but it's still a choice between (hopefully!) celebrating glorious promotion with a stunning league win compared to very likely miserable relegation with Barnsley.  I think the former will look better on his CV, and having worked hard all season I would think he'd want to see it through.
I'm sure he'll get plenty more opportunities in the coming months (and quite possibly Barnsley again after they sack whoever leads them to relegation...)

Championship pace setters St Mirren are set to bolster their title bid with the signing of Falkirk star Myles Hippolyte.
The 23-year-old winger has notched six goals for the Bairns this season and is regarded as one of the Championship’s dangermen.
His arrival in Paisley will be seen as something of a coup in the battle for promotion to the top flight.
Hippolyte is in Paisley and set to be confirmed by the Buddies later today.

I highly doubt the referee supervisor briefed the fans around me who were foaming at the mouth whilst shouting obscenities at Craig Thomson.
And on they note, why do some people not show some consideration whilst sitting directly behind youngsters?
Guy behind me who I won't name, well kent face at SMP and respected saints fan sat directly behind my 7 year old son. The whole match he shouted and bawled at the top of his voice at the referee. Every swear word you could imagine was used whilst spitting all over my wee boy.
We deliberately sat away from the singing section, who do a great job  btw. I have no problem with them but I know there might be some boisterous behaviour so I don't sit beside them. No doubt my boy will be in there when he's 18 but at 7 he's still a bit young for all of that.

I know we're at the football, I know you can't wrap them in cotton wool but FFS,  we got 90 minutes of non stop foul abusive language.
This is from a pretty normal middle aged man, not pished out his tits showing no consideration for the 7 year old he's leaning over the top of. Or several kids round about him.
Sorry for the rant but I wish some people would just think about who's around them before the open their mouth in that way.

I'd say he struggled to make much of an impact.  Although the quality of the opposition wasn't high, it was a tough ask for a first game, as East Kilbride played with nine men behind the ball in the final third of the pitch, for the entire first half more or less.  So he had very little space and not much in the way of quality supply to work with.   Then came off after 10 mins of the 2nd half.
The other debutant, Liam Smith, looked pretty good though solid in defence, good movement and some decent crosses.  But he was given miles of space so had it a bit easier.  Still Liam scoops the debutant of the evening award IMO.

Based on the 90 mins at Alloa, I think we will struggle to make the play offs this season.  I think we would need at least another 2-3 good quality additions to the squad to have a decent chance.

Hmm...Hope his situation is resolved one way or the other ASAP.
Last years debacle at the same stage of the season did significant damage to the club.
And now this latest speculation/set of offers seems ideally timed once again to cause maximum disruption to the club.
Would it not be sensible to conduct this sort of business outwith the transfer windows at least?

Just how is it that the club can decide who's getting the job before an interview has even taken place?
It's no wonder thay have such an appalling track record at making appointments.
Its amazing really just when I think you've heard everything, another story comes out that I struggle to believe.
If there was ever a proposal to make a film about the demise of St. Mirren it will be rejected out of hand as no-one would be able to believe that a group of guys could make such an utter mess of every single decision that's put in front of them.

Surely that's the point of a job interview.
You can't admonish the board completely in this case, it is their job to pick the right person for the job. And in this case they clearly didn't.
I can't see much sign that Murray has got anything right since he started, from making Alan Gow his first signing onwards.
Any hiring decision is always going to be a gamble. And any idiot could see that Murray had the kind of track record that would make him a candidate for the job.
It was surely the Board's role to look beyond that by interviewing him and making use of their contacts to discern whether he was really the right person for the post. Obviously they appear to have got it very badly wrong.
Or are the board simply supposed to stick a pin blindly in a list of names and hope for the best?

I see the prodigiously talented Mr Drury has now signed for Gainsborough Trinity, currently 15th in the National League North, the 6th tier of English football, just below Bradford Park Avenue but an impressive 2 places above FC United of Manchester.
Mind you given the opportunity I'm sure Gainsborough Trinity would give Alloa Athletic a run for their money, which is a step ahead of anything we've achieved this season.
Think this should really be in Other Football but this was the only thread I could find about Drury.
