  1. I can see why the Bowling Club might be happy with the training facility. They can now extend the playing hours when it would otherwise be too dark!
  2. What the fuck do these residents want at Allanton? Its a football park, has been for years. Would they rather the land was sold for housing? I bet they'd object to that to. What about a supermarket? Some shops? Industrial? The fact is that these folk would object to absolutely anything that went there. It seems that they just want it to be a community facility..... as long as hardly anyone uses it!
  3. Is 9:30 a watershed or something? My ex-sister-in-law lives on Bathgo Avenue as well. Haven't heard my brother mentioning the witch moaning about it yet though.
  4. I don't get the "valuation of house" bit. The football pitches have been there for at least 30 years. Why has it not been a concern before? The floolights have always been there. I think the problem is that they have become used to the facility being unused and that its being used they are up in arms! Why buy a house next to a football pitch if you don't want to live next door to a football pitch?
  5. The above is taken from a leaflet that my dad (who lives in Ralston) gave me. Thought it might interest a few folk - particularly as the meeting is tomorrow night. Its incredible - you buy a house next to a football pitch and then complain when they..... er, play football on it!
  6. Ralston Playing Fields Are you affected by the St. Mirren Development of the playing fields? In relation to the Development, have you any issues with any of the following: Car Parking Erection / Installtion of Water Tank Floodlights Foul Language Industrial Use of Playing Fields Loss of Privacy Valuation of House Cavalier Use of Herbicide Excess Traffic Football being kicked over fence Generator Loss of Amenity Noise Is no one listening to your complaint? If you want to air your views, why not join other concerned residents At Ralston Community Centre Allanton Avenue on Tuesday, 15th September 2009 from 7.30pm The objective is to form a Residents' Action Group which will fully respresent your views and speak for you with both Renfrewshire Council and St. Mirren FC
  7. I wonder if a return for Franco Miranda is still possible? I notice that the Argentine season has been postponed due to the debt crisis over there with many clubs unable to pay their players. It seems a strange logic that postponing games will improve cash flow though?? Although I did read it was a move to try and get the TV companies to stump up money earlier. Anyway, maybe Franco will be having a change of heart??...............
  8. Not "all". I'd far rather we spent any available budget on an attacking wide player than a full back.
  9. Is he related to the infamous John Pelosi?
  10. Look, I've got more faces than the town clock.
  11. For once, I agree with Billy. Jack Ross should never have been allowed to play for Scotland B - and neither should Cuthbert. We should be giving the SFA no co-operation whatsoever. International football should be banned altogether.
  12. For a player of this calibre and past record to be joining St. Mirren while still only 31 rings alarm bells for me...... What we need to do however is ensure that our players fall on the deck anywhere in or around the penalty box as this guy is great with free kicks and penalties. Even if he can't run anymore, his dead ball ability might be worth it...........
  13. On the contrary, if you look back at the old report and accounts there is a huge jump in the debt, £1 million+ in the season the Caley Stand was built. It cost a lot more money to build than was expected and it turned out that the club didn't own all the land at the Caley End. It cost a wad of cash sorting it all out, legal fees, etc. The sports club under the stand barely made much profit and if you included the sports club's share of the repayments on the stand then it would certainly have been maing a loss. By the end of its time before it went into private hands, it was making a loss never mind the stand repayment share. That stand left us with a massive loan to repay Barr Construction and it was that loan that nearly took us under in 1998. I remember the special AGM when Brealey tried to take over and Stewart Gilmour stood up to speak against it and to try and get together a consortium. His speech was all about how he would get hold of Bill Barr on the Monday to try and come up with a plan to keep the club alive.
  14. Fitzpatrick did waste a lot of money but at least it was balanced by selling players eg we still had the Ferguson money in the bank plus sold Winnie, Cameron, Brian Hamilton for a fortune and even made a load of cash selling Chalmers, Walker, Wilson, etc. We went into the red with Davie Hay, speculating to accumulate and it all went wrong. At the end of the day, the directors in charge at the time are to blame for allowing this to happen. But back in these days the club was used to selling players for big money and probably didn't think that we'd get relegated. The next big problem was building the Caley Stand. That really fucked us up. That has turned out to be a monumental waste of money.
  15. Howard, Ross, Miranda, Potter, Haining, Mason, McGinn, Dorman, trialist, Mehmet, Dargo.
