archie gemmo got a reaction from Ayrshire Saints in The Defence
Totally agree.
Defense doesn't look like the strongest atm but it doesn't help the midfield have a total inability to retain possession to take the pressure off them.

Four players with the stamina of a horse are needed, they can deal with the constant barrage whilst the midfield and attack show all the structure of a raindrop running down a window.

I'd rather not have Goodwin at centre defence, he is a pretty hopeless defender!

Surely this is a bit of an overreaction?
John McGinn gave his all for the club whilst under contract and helped us through numerous relegation battles and a Cup win.
The player is no longer under contract with us therefore has no obligation to train with us. He was also involved in a work related accident therefore is entitled to seek compensation.
John will move on now to another club which i would assume would be able to offer him a better contract in a better league, absolute no brainer for the boy! Good luck John.

The whole team didn't look interested last year you can hardly single him out. It was a season to forget, we need to move on and look forward to the challenges ahead.

Some of the stuff written here is very childish to say the least.

Every year we try to sign someone with pace and we end up with duds like Lewis Guy!
All i want is a striker that can give us 15-20 goals a year. Fast or slow, big or small just give us a striker that will be in the right place at the right time.

Anyone who was there on the 17th March 2013 should know how much of a goal threat stevenson can be.
Would be a good signing and i think could compliment thommo well

I really wish I had your optimism, but I'm afraid DL provides me with no confidence in his ability to motivate the players and lift us up the league to where I, and many others, think we should be. By November/December we may well be toiling at the foot of the table, having watched Thommo play up front on his own every week and Hearts overtaken us. I really wish I could support Danny, I've thought about it logically, I want him to do well, but I've concluded in my own mind that he should move on.

What you should ask yourself - Is three League wins in 9 month acceptable ?
For me it is not , this has nothing to do with Danny being a nice guy but everything to do with your and my club that should be the bottom line.

archie gemmo got a reaction from whydowebother in Should Danny Stay?
I respect your opinion but honestly dont see myself a team on paper that can finish anywhere near top 3!
Goalkeeper - Inexperienced/nervous - Cornell has not been good enough. Whether he is just finding his feet or not remains to be seen but im not convinced he has the ability. Hope im wrong.
Defenders - Left back - I think we have a good LB in grainger but no cover
Right Back - Aging DVZ needing replaced could still do a job
CB - McGregor doesnt look the same player. McAusland and Mair not good enough and goodwin is not a defender
Midfield - I reckon we have a good midfield but most of which are being played out of position
Strikers - Thompson and thats it!!!

Danny Lennon will always be considered a legend as he was the manager that led the club to winning the League Cup for the first time, and for that the fans are forever grateful, but the woeful start to the season and 1 league win in 2013, as well as those 6 straight league defeats towards the end of 2012 is not good managerial material, and for that I have to say that Danny Lennon should do the honourable thing and resign as a manager, even his post match interview last night on Radio Scotland, he did not sound confident for his own future at St Mirren.
If he does go then who would we bring in? Anyone but Paul Hartley!
We should try and get in a manager who has at least 10 years of managerial experience, or someone who hasn't done the rounds in Scotland, would like to see someone from South of the border coming in, there are plenty of out work English managers available who jump at the chance to come to St Mirren.
