St Mirren v Motherwell 6th Feb 2019
John Gotti replied to St.Ricky's topic in Matchday & Travel Club
From the BBC. St Mirren manager Oran Kearney didn’t like what he was seeing and made a swift decision to change things. It didn’t go down well with Jack Baird who made way for Kyle McAllister. He completely ignored his manager’s attempt to high five him in an act of clear insubordination, something that doesn’t bode well when you’re bottom of the table. The move nearly paid off though with Anders Dreyer denied by a wonderful save, then McAllister fired over. Managers are paid to make decisions. Will this one work? So far I think our shape looks a lot better -

Saints v Hibs, 27th January 2019
John Gotti replied to Eric Arthur Blair's topic in Matchday & Travel Club
How did I compare Mallan to Goodwin? I said what Goodwin would have done if Mallan had fouled him. -

I don’t know how much football you have played but if you boot someone that often that early in a game and they don’t come back at you then chances are they won’t and you own them. We were the better team in the first half but Stephen went very quiet and didn’t need to be bullied in the second half as the job was done. Now his lack of tracking back could be down to any number of reasons but rubbing his calf after Mallan nailed him repeatedly so early in the game certainly suggests he was worse for it. In any side you need to win your personal battles and that starts with the physical one. If Mallan had kicked Goodwin, Goody would have went through him and let him know the score. Stephen just kept taking it, like others have said he is a good player but as captain and in the middle of the park, he needs to set the tone. I like him as and he is clearly a good player but he can’t allow Mallan to have 5 unanswered kicks at him. -

Mallan fouled him 5 times in the opening 15 minutes alone. -
Saints v Hibs, 27th January 2019

Aye he is, though I think Tansey looked well off the pace which didn't help. Would have loved Goodwin on the park rather than doing match analysis as other than Gray Hibs are actually soft if you are physical back. -

They actually kept kicking him on the calf, which was interesting. It was a shame to see as even if none of them were a booking, Mallan was certainly guilty of persistent fouling. I just wish Stephen had given some back. -
Saints v Hibs, 27th January 2019
John Gotti replied to Eric Arthur Blair's topic in Matchday & Travel Club
I agree that he was kicked something awful today and got nothing from the ref but I do wonder how much of it did he bring on himself? Can you imagine Goodwin, Murray, Aber, Millen or any other physical midfielder allowing that to happen? No they would have nailed Mallan and as they helped him to his feet, told him there's plenty more of that if you want it son. Stephen is a tidy player but without a physical player next to him he is easily bullied. We need a ball winner to set the tone. It might not be the Barca way but most Scottish sides need a hammer thrower. -

Kicked out of the game in the first 15 minutes by Stevie Mallan, not Scott Brown or Darian MacKinnon but wee Stevie Mallan. We really need a physical player in the middle of the park because we are too ‘nice’ to play against. -

He’s certainly been quiet but in fairness Paul hasn’t played him in once. -

The frustrating thing is Paul McGinn headed the ball when keeper probably had it......ball falls the McGregor and can’t miss. -

Baird caught ball watching but I didn’t think the keeper needed to come for that. Stay on your line and he needs to beat you with power, come out and don’t get it and he can slip it under you like that. We’ve definitely had the better chances but Hibs have looked more in control. Come on Saints. -
Looked a stone overweight and didn’t do anything was what I saw on the Well thread.

Saint Mirren v Alloa Scottish Cup January 2019

At least Don Robertson has been a game changer for Saints today.[emoji85] https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/disappeared-game-player-moved-next-5117852 WHEN Don Robertson’s playing career with Partick Thistle and St Mirren didn't pan out he was determined to do the next best thing....... -
Saint Mirren v Alloa Scottish Cup January 2019
John Gotti replied to St.Ricky's topic in Matchday & Travel Club
That’s my take on it too. The ref got influenced by the Alloa players, especially the keeper and made a mistake. Funny how when the OF go down it’s “making the ref make a decision” but when we do it it’s a booking. -

Sunderland Speak To Jack Ross
John Gotti replied to Isle Of Bute Saint's topic in General St. Mirren Discussion
I'm not sure about that. The new owner knew what he was buying and Jack was tasked to stop the negative momentum. I think he has done that so I think providing they are there or there abouts, he will be given time. Even if they don't go up this season. I realize they are a big side but he hasn't exactly been given an open cheque book. -
That's worthy of a like just for a Jim Diamond reference [emoji106]

The original quote stated it was their U23s though. Either way it is good to get a look at these guys in action before Oran offers them a deal.......... take note Mr. Stubbs [emoji14]
