His return co-incided with McGregors return. Both Mair and McAusland have played a couple of times beside McGregor and we have looked much better at the back. I think the reason for our dramatic improvement is twofold... Goodwin protecting the defence... and McGregor returning to it. I'm not fussed whether Mair or McAusland partner him... but right now with one goal conceded in two solid performances, Cheesy is in possession and Mair will just have to wait his turn.

Didn't seem to be a fuss made at the time and after watching it on the highlights umpteen times, I still don't see anything obvious or conclusive.

Totally agree. I didn't know the lad personally, but I set my stopwatch to make sure I paid tribute. In the family stand, I started applauding at the agreed time... but onfield events had taken everyones attention. Bit by bit, all four stands caught on... applauded... and joined in by standing to applaud... That element of spontaneity actually made it all the more powerful!

Goodwin may have had his poorest game in a while in terms of misplaced passes... but he was protecting the young lads from the Staggies thuggery and did so well not to respond to the niggles of their players who were obviously following instructions. Jim Goodwin is not and never will be a McLean, McGinn or McGowan... but he allows them to be and that is good enough for me!!! In a team of youngsters, we need senior players supporting and encouraging them. Would be nice if we the supporters encouraged and supported the senior players in return and appreciated the selfless work they do.

Time was down to TV... ... as long as we collectively sell our footballing souls to the tv companies... which Donkeyblaster sees as his priority... we will always have this problem and forfeit the right to complain. I had this very debate with our own chairman and still stand by it... ... a long as we rely on tv income ahead of spectators, there will be a terminal decline in paying customers until it reaches the point where the tv companies withdraw their cash and we are left high and dry... too late to attract fans back to the beautiful game.

Worried about this after reading comments attributed to Darren McGregor in the press today. He is quoted as saying he is scunnered that the game is on Sunday as he was looking forward to a weekend off! I sincerely hope that was tongue in cheek and taken out of context. We really need the players to be focused on getting the job done as County will see it as a get out of jail free card. I'm not sure we're mentally tough enough to go for the jugular!
