I can only assume that you are not a St. Mirren shareholder.
The purchase of shares is definitely wishful thinking if a person believes it will ever give return. I remember about 25 years buying some shares at, I think, £50 each just so I would get a St. Mirren shareholders certificate. Then, no more than a few years later, my dad told me that shares were being issued at 50p each. That made me laugh and I bought my dad some. You've never seen a man more happy with his son.
    Why do people do it?
For me, if I don't see a game for the next 12 months because of this virus, I will be more concerned about the survival of St. Mirren F.C. than the £144 I've spent on an adult concession.
You can call me a fool or a person who is proud be known as a Paisley Buddie.
I know which one I am.

Early look at the goals. Not my tweet so don't blame me for the angle.

I'm enjoying the fact that in the thread on our boxing day game, a few posters on here were slating Obika, and one or two (you know who you are) were saying he wouldn't hit double figures for goals this season. Yet here we are, still in February and he's on 11 (and should be 12 given his goal at Ross County was onside). Best way to prove the doubters wrong is to keep banging the goals in.

    Kirk Broadfoot

Special mention to big Kirk today.  I thought he was magnificent in the centre of out defence.  The pass he played to begin the move for the second goal was subllime.  The big lad (and he is a big lad now, mind the twig we first signed?) not only failed to put a foot wrong his creativity was first class.

Take a bow Kirk, take a bow indeed.

Given McLoughlin's efforts on Saturday, this is reassuring. Loved big Kirkie the first time round and his song must be resurrected!

I remember him bursting onto the scene as a teenager scoring 2 excellent goals from outside the box at Somerset. I think he may have played midfield that day? Even after settling into being a centre-half he was partial to the odd marauding run through the midfield.

Gus talked him up as being one of the most committed players at the club. Would always stay behind after training when others were away home. No surprise he's had a good career, even managing a goal for Scotland.

Lets see how much St Mirren trivia we can come up with
Updating the OP as we go along...

Only team to sack Sir Alex Ferguson

3 ex players currently in the English Premier League - Aaron Mooy, John McGinn and Kenny McLean
Paul Lambert, ex buddie, Champions League winner
1 of only 7 teams to have played in the top division in Scotland for 100+ years (Rangers, Celtic, Aberdeen, Hearts, Hibs, Motherwell and St Mirren)
Last team to win Scottish cup with all Scottish players (unlikely to happen again!)

Only team in Scotland to field a player called Eric Djemba Djemba, so good they named him twice.
Last team to score a goal into the old (square) wooden goal posts at Hampden.(87 Cup Final)
First Scottish club to win a trophy in Europe. Barcelona Cup - 1922

First substitute in Scottish football. Archie Gemmill for Jim Clunie. Link
Only Scottish Team to win the Anglo Scottish Cup

St Mirren are the last team to play in front of an attendance of over 100,000 in a domestic football match in the UK, that didn’t involve either half of the Old Firm. 1959 Scottish Cup Final, St Mirren v Aberdeen Link
The only Senior Club with an affiliated Junior team that won the Scottish Junior Cup (1916-17)
St. Mirren were the first football team in the world to wear black and white vertical stripes, 1884. That's 6 years before Notts County, 10 years before Newcastle and 22 years before Juventus.

Enjoyed the game. First half the youngsters were excellent. Last 20 mins or so they tired on a heavy pitch. Breadners goal was a stunner. MOM hard to choose between Conor McBrearty and Cammy Breadner to classy performers. Well done. Dumbarton away next Tuesday. Coys

    Serious question?
We have lost once in our last 8 games.
We've won 4 of those and drawn 3. for 15 points out of the last 24 against a significantly higher class of opponent than Dundee Utd have been facing. That is top-6 form right there. By next Sunday Utd will have played two midweek games in a row. Utd have also been plagued by hit and miss results all season against much weaker opposition.
We SHOULD be expecting to win over the two games.
What bit of that are you struggling with?

If you think about it, the two long stands are about 180 seats long, and the South about 120 seats long.
Using those numbers, it would only take an average of one empty seat per column of seating to make the home ends about 500 empty.
One empty in each column would make the stands look totally sold out.

Hands up, who else thought: Saints against 9 men - what can possibly go wrong?

Not a great game but very exciting and we were always in control despite Hamilton’s negative approach. The assault on Gary Mac was worth 3 red cards.

Flynn seemed to inspire the rest of the team when he came on. Got to hope he’s got 90 minutes in him on Saturday.

Great to see two Academy boys doing the business against the Accies.

A message of congratulations to the team and the management for a magnificent turnaround and avoiding automatic relegation today.
Of course we're disappointed about Hamilton winning but all of the people at the club have rescued us from a seemingly impossible position in a very short time.
I believe that all of them deserve our thanks for getting over this first hurdle and to not have a magnificent achievement lost in the bowels of a matchday thread or in the negativity of Hamilton winning today or any nonsense about how we've been performing recently. That's 4 great results in a row against strong opposition with plenty of late goals. That's noteworthy right there. The boys never f**king give in. That's the spirit we need from here to the end of the season and we'll be fine.
Part Two is to defeat Hamilton next week and leave us with something to play for on the last week. If we do that, we can enter the play-offs (if it comes to that) with our heads held high.
Despite other results, I'm buzzing today and can't wait for next week.
    Let's f**king do this.
    COYS.
