If we receive any sporting disadvantage by this... Then the games done. Our league will be at its lowest, and that’s saying something! Hopefully common sense prevails, Massively doubtful though.

    Totally agree.
If St mirren are held up as a scapegoat in this farce and are penalised in a “sporting sense” I’m finished with the game here. It’s a complete make it up as you fumble along here with the SPFL
Cannot see the SPFL taking on and threatening the Glasgow two in this threatening manner.
An absolute race  to the bottom , the state of the game here.

  2. So it’s indicative  albeit at this early stage of polls that the  Labour party has become basically irrelevant.

Potentially massive change in the political map.

Yet the end game, the  outcome,  well the country will continue to rage against Westminster.

So nothing changes if nothing changes

  3. What a truly embarrassing interview with Johnson and Marr this morning. Two daft lads in a playground squabble. Truly cringeworthy stuff. Boris Johnson just chunters  on and on and on and never finishes a sentence. Marr just lobbed question after question at him , truly a pathetic exchange between both of them. Total mess. Boris is really simply a prattling shambles of verbal diarrhoea. He’s the PM and top politician, wow, just wow, He is the worst example of a politician he’s an arrogant aloof pest , just don’t try and pin any question on him and expect an answer. Dreadful.

SNP need to stop playing the victim at every opportunity  , most Scots ain't daft, can see right through them

Should concentrate on their performance in government rather than greeting about not being invited to a debate that they knew they wouldn't be invited to

Yup, that's politics summed up in a nutshell. The lot of them ( all brands ) are utter hypocrites and play the completely disingenuous doublespeak at every turn.

I just wish we could ignore the feckers. Media should just impose a reporting restriction on all forms of politics for a year. Starve the grasping collective clownery of any form of media and public exposure.

There is a group of Women and girls (big age range) who appear to be "escorted" by a couple of guys occasionally on the train to Ayr.  The younger girls are dressed in normal jeans and jumpers and as the train approaches Ayr they go to the toilet and change into the traditional garb.  They then set about begging at strategic locations around town while the 2 males play those hideous violin type contraptions in a different location. They meet up outside Greggs at lunchtime then go back to work in the afternoon before heading for the train home back of 5 like any normal worker where they make straight for the loos to change back to their "civvies" . It's clearly organised and I suspect it's gang master driven with these poor women having been brought over here specifically to beg.  How it's allowed to happen like this so blatantly on the street of the UK in this day and age is beyond me.

Yup, seen similar across recent tams in particular, clearly a blatant form of coordination.

My gripe is simple, what are authorities ( agencies too numerous to mention ) actually doing to mitigate this, it appears absolutely hee haw. Presently it seems we are simply providing a blind eye, almost an assist to blatant begging in all its guises rather than doing anything about it. The trend looks like increasing and basically changing the street dynamic completely.

If we the great Joe Public can see and express concern over this, why cant the authorities  ? I suppose a zero tolerance approach to this is simply not acceptable in human rights parlance.

I'd just love to hear our politicians , local , regional national, express some concern and propose and implement some policy to recognise and eradicate this horrendous blight, both on beggars and the pavement walking public. Its blatantly unacceptable, but yet is clearly becoming the new norm.

We had a regular one in Bodmin always asking for change for “food”. It’s well known he has a place to stay and that he’s a heroin addict. He used to come up to me when I used to deliver in the evenings, even followed me back to my flat once in the hope I’d give him some change.

He’s banned from begging in town now and his face is posted up in a number of shops to raise awareness of this ban. It’s been said that if he approaches you then you have to contact the police - but they want you to stand up in court against him for the evidence and most aren’t willing.

There must literally be hundreds in Glasgow now , numbers seem to be for ever on the up

  8. Interesting replies so far, tends to indicate my fear of the blindingly obvious I suppose, this issue is going to grow, the dam is breached and this is going to turn to a flood of street hassle.

Based in my recent experience and as BoK says you start to fear for your family/kids getting hassled. There seems to be a definite increase in the sinister presence of 'organised begging', its really blatantly obvious in main areas of Glasgow now, so why is no one making a stand on this.

I mean there must surely be a policy or at least practical political will somewhere to eradicate this from the streets ffs.

  9. Seems to me the numbers of people on the streets in towns and cities 'begging' is significantly on the rise ?

Not confined to one particular social demographic but recently the sheer volume of street begging , both direct and passive appears to be significantly on the rise. Recently in Glasgow we were approached directly on several occasions , to the point it was intimidating and un nerving. Dunno if I need a better filter but the amount of street begging generally is staggering to me and looks to be increasing almost daily.. This is no longer confined to the main street corners, but seems to be prevalent now every other shop entrance and bank cash machine outlet. A lot of the begging is now clearly coordinated amongst groups,  some of it still spontaneous and desperate in nature , some of it tbh is also clearly a piss take as some on street beggars seem to have a steady regular slot.

Irrespective of the politicking around this,, to me this looks like a problem on the rise, an issue  that has no obvious end and it certainly does not appear to be getting any kind of official attention apart from the odd street pastor attending to some random unfortunate. Couldn't tell you the last time I saw a policeman anywhere near any form of anti social begging taking place..

Don't know that there is a simple solution to this, but the inaction or inability to stem the numbers involved in this seems to be a clear and obvious problem imo, one that is only going in one direction. Is this just to be the new normal, and we should we learn to simply develop a tolerance ?

When you look more carefully at the Scotland team that's not a road we should travel along...

I know, all the National rugby teams are at it more so these days, quite a significant few in England as well as our own National team. You wonder  just how justifiable the ancestry and lineage routes are across the board now.

Yet, even with 'imports' I'm afraid our style, speed and power still seems to be from a different dna stream

  11. Gregor Townsend needs a decent Six Nations now, or the mob will gather for a change of coach.

By a good six nations that means doing more than beating Italy. It means competing to out gun Ireland , France and certainly compete with Wales.

The England match always takes care of itself, as usual anything could happen here.

But the 'nearly there' tag has been hovering over this squad for too long, they need wins, they need improved discipline and speed of thought as well as play to a more cutting , ruthless standard. Watching the Japan teams discipline, speed and power was impressive......... they are a terrifically coached , motivated and a quite decent lot ,.even if  a few of them didn't look anything like Japanese :whistle

We can't compare Fergie and Ross different times and different era's. Game is totally different now

    Correct.

SAF was a complete force of nature,  a blunt instrument who galvanised all and was a great fit at his time with each club throughout the steps of his career. Also in his day, stepping out into the Community and enthusing, cajoling or just plain bullying the good patrons of Renfrewshire into believing. His Man management style of the day reaped its rewards, a style of the day that wouldn't be acceptable to the brave hearts sweet hearts in these times. SAF was granted time to do his job , especially at Man Utd.  even though he was perilously close to the bullet, yet the rest is history never to be repeated.

JR, very similar early rise through the ranks but stalled, I think as much due to the increased expectations from the likes of Sunderland and fans in general today and also his own decision in jumping an extra rung of the ladder when he genuinely wasn't ready. Sunderland job ( cannot blame him for taking it ) was not beyond him given time, but time today is not afforded anyone. JR's failure was in not getting promoted last season. Indeed who knows what could have happened of he hadn't lost the play off. His stats are good at over 50% win ratio, but not good enough for Sunderland expectations, rightly or wrongly.

    Yup, changed days indeed.

  13. Scotland and participation in sporting competition....................dear oh dear , continually re inventing the term glorious failure on the exit route

Now its the weather, if its not managerial ineptitude, a referee's poor decisions or our inability to be good enough, we can now add to the list the God of Meteorology   :boo2:

    Wha's like us .....................indeed
