If we ever were to actually get to the byeline and play a decent cross then Thommo will be effective. Our current style of play does not suit the Hawk and its absolutely pish anyway.
Anyway I see we are fixating on an out of form striker when our defence is clearly the real problem. We are hopeless in defence, rank, putrid, bowfing and pure school playground stuff.

I was giving the current management the benefit of the doubt and looking to Hibs poor start to last season as proof that it can indeed be difficult to come down and rebuild in this league. However, it is fair to say things have gone beyond a joke now and its time to urgently apply pressure on the board to take some form of action (which to be fair, has started with Alex Miller being brought in this week).
I was pretty sceptical when Anne Budge and Hearts brought in Levein in a "director of football" capacity and put the pretty inexperienced Neilson in as manager. It is fair to say things have worked out very well for them and that goes down to new leadership coming in and getting the proper structure in place from top to bottom of the club, obviously including areas such as scouting and coaching. I believe Neilson also has the team in in the afternoons and on Sundays & Mondays too when needed.
Murray made a point in his last interview that the home form has been going on for 2 years before he moved to the club. I think its taking the piss a bit to suggest we would not be beating Livingston and Dumbarton under Danny Lennon or Gary Teale, however he does have a point there. It seems the whole structure of the club needs urgent surgery. We have pissed away so much money on releasing players like Dougie Imrie, who seems to be doing ok now still in the top league. Gary Teale was left with no chance to rebuild the team last season, only being confirmed as manager just before the window closed. And we have been at the very least naive if not criminally negligent in building a youth academy and then letting McLean and McGinn walk away for buttons. I have a bad feeling the same will happen with Mallan....
Murray is not a very impressive manager but he is doing worse at St Mirren than at Dumbarton! It seems there are real problems within the club that are going to be difficult for any young manager to turn around.
I know most will say we need a new chairman and board. That simply is not going to happen any time soon.
Something needs to be done, and urgently.
Would the sensible thing to do with Alex Miller be to appoint him in an executive capacity and give him the chance to use his experience to carry out a complete analysis of the youth development, coaching, scouting, management and on-field departments of the club?
I think the solutions here are a lot more complex than continuing the chopping and changing of the first team coach.

Murray should show some respect to the fans and have some self respect and hold his hands up and walk away.
There were 10-15 decent minutes at the start then we fell apart. Gallacher got subbed yet Thommo was offering nothing, as for the penalty, well surely these players get it drummed into them about not making silly tackles in the box, it's not even at school boy level, these guys are clueless

Gardening leave my arse. I don't agree with much of what the BoD do, but they appointed a young manager with knowledge of the division St Mirren had slipped into. He had done enough at Dumbarton to suggest St Mirren was a step up for him, but not a step too far.
It was a sensible looking appointment considering relegation meant a natural re-build anyway. It looked to be an imaginative appointment given the usual Butcher, Tangoman or Shiels type of possibility.
The BoD have, in this instance, in my view anyway, given a promising manager who seemed the right man at the right time, the keys to the club Infiniti.... And supplied him with decent tools in a team with a spine of decent (on paper / for this division) quality - Langfield, Webster, Goodwin, Thommo and Gow... Those names, by Christ, with some talent around them, should be OK for taking on everyone possibly bar the Ibrox Impact Globetrotters.
