  1. I agree, the use of the word Natsi has been used insultingly, it's deliberate use to describe Autocratic Scottish Nationalists has been quite effective. It's hardly a crime though, but is it really anymore unsavoury than the plethora of insults that get thrown in all directions? I don't think so. this thread has got to be up there in the top 5 of biggest bites on this forum. Stuart, if you put away you're fishing rod now, I think this will still get you a prize for the whole of 2016. There's been much frothing at the mouth on this forum over 'he said, she said' over the years, but jeezo, SD caught a whopper with his terminology for autocratic Scottish nationalists. Talking about Scottish Nationalists, what's all this kerfuffle amongst them in Lanarkshire about? http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/14281222.SNP_members_to_refuse_to_vote_for_party_MSP_as__Monklands_McMafia__row_escalates/ http://www.thenational.scot/politics/turf-war-at-the-centre-of-racism-row-involving-snp-councillor-julie-mcanulty.13782?fb_action_ids=767698876700165&fb_action_types=og.comments
  2. did you read the post or did a light bulb flicker & you thought you know how to do sums 200 x £60 = £12k?? Perhaps you missed the "helped fund" part that, at the time of writing was intended to indicate that the fans council/founder members money was not the only money funding the project at that time.
  3. does it really matter? An agreement was reached between The Club & the Fans Council & funding to pay for the fit out etc was agreed & a supporters club {albeit a private members club (at this time)} is being built. Who is paying for it is no one elses business but The Club, the shareholders, the Fans Council & whoever has paid the £60 founder members fee. As the opening of the bar draws closer, there will be more gnashing of teeth about it being members only blah blah blah. Everyone had the same opportunity to sign up to it but so many chose not to. It may not be the right model for sustainability and I am a firm believer, it will not be long before it becomes the 1877 Supporters Bar on a 1st come 1st served basis. If you haven't signed up to it now, bide yer time, you will get in soon enough. Thank f**k there were 200 or so folk able to pay the £60 founders fee that has helped fund this build. Without that money, it doesn't look like this would have been done.
  4. I don't think other places have had the historical hatred but I get what you mean. I completely agree, abolish Rangers & Celtic & the focus gets diminished. Unfortunately,I don't hold out much hope for right minded people speaking out will change it, religious intolerance has been around since time began. Someone somewhere has been getting grief from someone because of their religion. One day, eh. We can but only hope (as a non practicing "Christian", praying won't work}
  5. Scotland doesn't have the balls to stand of to the shenanigans of the Old Firm {They might be considered "deid" but the beast is well & truly alive & kicking"} Until Scotland revises it's education establishment & abolish religious based schools, Scotland will continue to be a petri dish for bigotry & religious intolerance to proliferate.
  6. People getting their nickers in a twist over your speculation is because, we/they can actually imagine the BoD sitting scratching their chins & thinking they could get away with that "as we need the money" Why not, we whored ourselves to Celtic in the summer, whoring ourselves to Rangers won't do any further harm to the club. Personally, I wouldn't entertain the idea. Rangers & Celtic fans have always infiltrated the home end, let things stay that way. If St Mirren really want to capitalise on getting a payday from Rangers for taking it up the shitter, switch the game to Ibrox and St Mirren keeps the gate receipts. A helluva lot more money if it's being done for the money, just like minnow clubs in England's FA Cup switching to the bigger club for a payday. & for Shull et al, Season tickets are valid.
  7. Dont remember my first game, i was 7 (1975) My earliest memory of a game is a 2-2 draw at Fir Park. Sat on the wall by the dividing chicken wire. The toffee bon bons got more of my attention
  8. some cracking reviews on Amazon for Veet. 34,348 of 34,900 people found the following review helpfulDO NOT PUT ON KNOB AND BOLLOCKS By Andrew on 24 Jan. 2012 Being a loose cannon who does not play by the rules the first thing I did was ignore the warning and smear this all over my knob and bollocks. The bollocks I knew and loved are gone now. In their place is a maroon coloured bag of agony which sends stabs of pain up my body every time it grazes against my thigh or an article of clothing. I am suffering so that you don't have to. Heed my lesson. DO NOT PUT ON KNOB AND BOLLOCKS. (I am giving this product a 5 because despite the fact that I think my bollocks might fall off, they are now completely hairless.) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Veet-Men-Hair-Removal-Cream/dp/B000KKNQBK/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1451022238&sr=8-3&keywords=veet
  9. Great stuff SD. Too many people think that "player development" is about creating a winning team. I expect the support David got from WWW will affect many more keepers in the future & that can only be a good thing.
  10. Murray will come good. It's a marathon. Not a sprint. Folk moan that the team is too young. Alan once said (wrongly) "you win nothing with kids" The fella will come good if he is givrn the time
  11. How you gonnae make it worth my while? You gonnae pop doon for some beers. Encouraging everyone i know to vote & if the other nominees dont have any votes from England, then technically EKDC has Englands vote
  12. got notified by the Essex FA the other day. the boys are off to Colchester United v Coventry City on 14th November to receive their Essex FA Fair Play award during the 1/2 time. Boys & their parents are looking forward to it. Me too.
  13. Went to Squeeze at Southend on saturday night. Next gigs will be Simple Minds in Dublin on Nov 29th and Happy Mondays at Brixton Academy on 3rd Dec. I see the Waterboys are touring around then too so will go see them too, probably in London.
  14. Only tweak I would do to this is not have a fee on the door. The till should realise enough income to pay for the door staff if the model is right. The current model will, I expect, be rethought. From now until ready for opening, I'd like to see some of the fans council's research on when they have visited other clubs supporters bars & what info they gleaned from these visits. That would either endorse their model or perhaps blow it out of the water. Whichever, I am a great believer in, if you don't try something different, you'll never know if it'll work or not but you need to be prepared to recognise something not working & change if need be. I wish the venture success in whatever model it ends up with.
  15. apart from all that, must have been a good deal financially for the club. Been led to believe that is all that should matter, Taking a deal that puts the most into St Mirrens coffers, even if it means selling our soul to the devil. For a few dollars more, St Mirren will allow a replica kit supplier to provide the most shoddy of shoddy provisions rebrand it's stadium. use part of the busiest home stand {inconveniencing St Mirren supporters} to accommodate away fans of some clubs. I'd rather see an active commercial department maximising revenue streams so that St Mirren didn't feel the need to sell it's soul f0r a few dollars more. Here's hoping, the BoD are paying attention & already thinking of where to go once this deal finishes {too much to expect their being a clause to extricate The Club from the current deal in time for next season}
  16. said our club secretary in an email to me today. I am really delighted for the boys on the U11 Greens & their parents, it was a tough season for the team but they came back week after week and finished every game having enjoyed the game. Their conduct through the season has been exemplary. I cannot feel ought else but pride in the group of lads & for them to receive recognition from The League & The County F.A.is testament to their will to have a crack at football. Off to Essex F.A for their awards on Tuesday night. Need to convince the wife to drive me there as it's out in the sticks of Chelmsford and there's no point going to a do & not enjoying a beverage or two.
  17. I'd rather my wife cheated with my best mate than my football team prostitutes itself to that shower of shite. What a crock of shite. By all means, rent the ground but that's it.
  18. Was on a golf society day on Friday just gone. A mate organises it every year. They're Profit margin is £10 her head on the society day itself. They then hit golfers with various charges through the day to boost their fundraising. One of them being a buggy waiting somewhere on the course to "relieve you of £10 to carry on". Fine's for shanking off the 1st tee. a mate playing his first ever round of golf just wanted to play 1 good shot all round, his approach to the 18th. Hooked the ball onto the club house patio = £20 fine. It all adds up. anyways, without knowing the costs or the facts of the day, I find it impossible to criticise. unashamed editing. Thanks Poz for pointing out.
  19. How the f did an 1877 club dicussion get turned into an argument about a golf day?
  20. Whilst it is a great project to finally be getting off the ground. I too believe the model is not the right one for a supporters bar. I wish you well with it but I believe it won't be too long before a rethink is on the cards. Hopefully, the ideas being discussed on this thread provides some food for thought if a rethink does happen. It isn't too late though to start the rethink now though I'd have gone for 1877 Lifetime members at £50 which would realise £93500. {How many season ticket holders, forum members etc etc. 1877 at £50 each isn't imho unrealistic} No idea how much to kit out the void but that can't be far away. If licensing could be got, it could be open at other times & possibly hired out for functions with a discount being given for members therefore getting some of the initial £50 outlay back if a member books the place for a private do. Like all clubs/pubs/venues that does not have infinite space, entry is on a 1st come 1st served basis. 1 out 1 in when capacityis reached with a nominal charge for entry on the door {would pay for the door staff + some}. I've wandered into many a pub, opened the door & thought, that's rammed, i'll go elsewhere. There can/should be no difference here unless an exclusive club is the aim. If entry is guaranteed to members, they could rock up at 2:45 for a quick pint before the match & if 300 rock up at 2:45 ish, not a lot of drinks is going to get sold. 1st come 1st served will encourage people to make it their watering hole of choice on matchdays & those who enjoy a few scoops pre-match will be inclined to come down earlier to try guarantee getting in, therefore buying more drinks over a longer period of time & spending a few more quid and maximising beer selling time. However it pans out, I wish the venture every success
  21. Saturday 2nd April 2016 St Mirren v Hibernian. Phew! I had booked this & gambled that St Mirren would have a home game. Result that it's Hibs as a good friend of mine who I met when I worked in Saudi Arabia is a Hibee {& coaches a team in Leith} will hopefully make the game too. I know it's 9 months away but looking forward to this even more now.
