I never judge a player until he gets a regular run of games but Stubbs is the manager and he simply doesn’t fancy him right at this minute. Hopefully the lad will have a fantastic season and come back next season looking to push for a place. I expect another one or two to follow him with one or two coming in.

Can loan signings ever care enough to play with the intensity and spirit of signed first team players? Where signed players know if they are in a relegation that their futures are on the line where a loan player goes back to his parent club with most of them on long term contracts. We have had some phenomenal loan players and some shockers and we are where we are with 5 loan players but no more please. There is 1000’s of free agents in the UK and across Europe that would be desperate to play for us if given the chance

I would prefer young players on 2 year deals that we can sell on or invest the wages in our youth academy. One or two are fine to plug gaps in the squad are fine but I would prefer permanent signings.

Looks like the boy has potential based on information I have seen on him. I look forward to seeing him in action. If we decide to play him centre half I wonder if he replaces Baird or Kpekawa? Not a good sign for Heaton and would make Gary Mac ever playing for us again slim to no chance. If he plays him as a holding midfielder then who does he drop? McGinn, Willock or Magennis who are arguably our 3 best players alongside Cammy Smith. Good dilemma to have I suppose. I would now love for us to bring in a full back, striker & wide midfielder. Hopefully not on loan as I believe we already have 5 on loan and I believe that’s a bit much.

I will be forever thankfully for Smith’s contribution last year but we’ve moved on and so has he. McGinn in the games he has played has done well and I’m delighted he is our right back. Onwards and upwards.

I never knew MacPherson was a full back but I was under the impression Kpekawa was a centre half who could cover at full back but not his natural position. I would love Eckersley & Gary Mac 2force themselves back in but if not we need cover.

Stubbs must have known the budget and what he had to work with before he accepted the job. Stubbs will be judged after a quarter of the season has gone. By that time he should have his his own squad and results will determine whether he is getting it right. As long as we are not rock bottom at that time which no clubs usually are should anyone be talking about replacing him IMO. As for anyone giving abuse to any of our players during a game is shocking. How anyone thinks abusing our own player during a game would make them perform better it has the opposite effect. If people feel a player is not good enough it should be discussed on forums like this or in the pub after games.

We have 3 centre halves not including MacKenzie. We don’t have cover for Coulson & McGinn that I know of? If they get injured by taking Eckersley out the equation who have we got?

Look forward to seeing Willock in action. Now we need at least one striker, couple of full backs if no way back for Eckersley and at least one wide midfielder. At least 4 I reckon

Well with the signing of Willock I don’t thing we will see McShane again in a St Mirren jersey. Forever grateful for his contributions last season.

I don’t believe anyone on here wants nothing but success for our team. The forum is all about opinions whether I agree with them or not.

Great to see Willock come in. The stumbling block with Stewart is his wages and what we contribute to them.

Reading about Willock it seems he is box to box central midfielder similar to McGinn & Magennis. I totally agree we need a striker and two defenders.

Meltdown coming

We need two players at least. One centre half who can cover at full back and a striker. In 3 games we have lost 8 goals and scored 2. As for Stubbs has been given a 3 year deal and any talk of him getting the sack any time soon is ludicrous. He has to be given and a chance to build his own squad and I will reflect on the start he has made after the 1st part of the season has gone. Yesterday’s game was a glorified kickabout where we fielded a number of trialists. I would rather take this result now rather than in a league game. The game that bothered me was the Spartans as that was a competitive game. Friendlies are for experimenting results don’t matter.

Eckersley’s is a solid defender who I would like to keep personally but the manager has to be given time to build his own squad with his own players as he will be judged on that in time. What I have noticed about Eckersley is that he has won the Championship 3 times with 3 different club and all 3 including ourselves have released him or in our case told him to leave.

He could easily had 2 from the 1st half but does not look like an out & out striker but out wide with his pace I believe could have done a job for us. Hoping to see more signings in the next couple of weeks
