I'm sure in such a scenario that REA would indeed find it difficult to match the dignity you've demonstrated throughout the proceedings.

A one-liner in the BBC rumour mill and that is 10000hrs f**ked? The irony!
I have happily backed 10000hrs because I thought they were the best option we had. And until we get even a single shred of actual evidence of this new bid even being made then I am still backing 10000hrs. If the new bidder comes in with the cash and doesn't appear to be a dickhead then so be it. I will gladly let him pump his cash in instead of mine.

Here we go again, 1% of the info that's been demanded from 10000 Hours and yet all the "Johnalists" are all over this as the preferred option.
If the deal is legit and the board feel it's best for the club then all fair and well.

What have I got to be defensive about?
I've always been openly sceptical about the CiC/10000Hours and the actions of the consortium. I'm not the one with any agenda here.
Its incredible that you are claiming that I am trying to make scaremongering personal. If you had the time and inclination, you'd find that I've been more than a little cynical about the motivation behind touting the financial apocalypse position. There is in no way, shape or form peronal. You're struggling nearly as badly as somner here, John. My advice would be that you chuck it before you lose your cuddly WOM image and merely make a rip-roaring cnut of yourself over this.

Come on, Sid. SG and the other SPL chairmen, aided and abetted by the clowns in charge of Scottish Football, were the ones promising Armageddon. The 10000hrs people may well have rode in on the back of this as an opportunity to increase subscriptions from fans desperate to save the club, but they didn't start the bollox.

I sat in the SMFC boardroom a few weeks back, and it wasn't Richard Atkinson who was forecasting financial catastrophe if the newco weren't in the 1st Division.
You're talking bollocks now John, and you know that fine well. The PDE did carry a story a good while back in which someone from 10000Hours apparently referred to a financial apocalypse, and I was no more impressed with that than I have been with the club making such utterences, but you are twisting this beyond any meaningful interpretation due to your apparent desperation to put the boot into 10000Hours at any and every opportunity.

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure that it was 10000Hours who were doing the 'scaremongering'. But don't let that get in the way of another opportunity to advance your own agenda....

No problem at all Sonny. Will gladly get some photos up as soon as possible. I had friends who stayed in Anchor Mill until recently and a friend who owns a couple of flats in there, however they are rented out... There are some photos on the walls of the foyer at the back, just ones off the internet, of the Counting House in its heyday and also as a derelict site, that have been put up by one of my neighbours, aside form this, there is nothing really that alludes to its history.
Any time you've got a spare morning or afternoon, drop me a PM and if I'm in, you're more than welcome to pop by for a coffee/tea and have a snoop about the place.

Aww a wee clue woulda been good! I've waited long enough, another day or few hours woulda been fine!
I'm not sure that I can provide a full exposé of the history, Sonny, but this site has some brilliant images of the Counting House just prior to and during the demolition of Ferguslie Thread Works, which was demolished throughout the 80s - possibly some still standing in the early 90s. The Counting House was far from the handsomest building on the site and it's a crying shame that the Number 1 Spinning Mill was taken down as it was by far and away the best looking of all of Paisley's Mill buildings... So sad. Of course, a part of it still remains, inset into the wall at the roundabout on the corner of Station Road and Old Mill Road is the stone sign that sat onto of the mill.
There are 17 flats in the Counting House now, 13 accessible from the main door on Turners Ave and 4 from the rear door at the back car park... In fact, if you look closely, you can see right into my living room in one of your pics The wonderful thing is that the Counting House was the first one of the few remaining FTW buildings to be refurnished and when it was complete, in 1997, Turners Ave didn't even exist and Old Mill Road didn't go as far as joining Green Road, like it does now. Because if this, the Counting House isn't officially on Turners Ave and as such has its own postcode - I love that!
I don't have any photos to put up just now, Sonny, but when I've Hoovered ( ) I'll take some of my place and some of the foyers at the front and back of the building to get a look at the inside. Surely there must be some other buds who live in old mill buildings who can post up pics too... can't just be me!

That'll be the counting house at ferguslie mill. Which I believe was where all the money was stored and subsequently where the mill workers went to get paid. It is magnificent inside, one flat in particular with the roof terrace is beautiful.

Yup, must be Feegie Park Gardens...! "The old mansion", was that Glen Coats (Glencoats?) House? I'll take a walk through there today with the wee one, if the rain stays off, and see if I can find it!
In fact, there is another interesting feature reasonably nearby that I've considered posting... Maybe if I get a photo of it today and post it up when this one is guessed, Sonny won't mind his thread being hijacked for one more day?!

I can see the scene now. Somner sitting on an upturned bar stool with his fingers in his ears desperately trying to ignore me. Stalinist Sid troughing his way through a huge pile of sausage rolls whilst blaming someone else for eating them. And me looking at the two of them and thinking back to the glory days of bigger and better times on a committee with a juvenile football club where a curry was the standard fayre for a club meeting. It'll never happen. For a start Somner won't get beyond posting on the forum and Sid will have changed his mind by next week.....

The concept's a good one Somner and I like your vision of what St Mirren could be... Of course there are PVG issues with what you laid out, but I'm sure you were just presenting a concept as opposed to an actual plan.
I'd add to it the opening up of the matchday experience: the stadium opens at 11am with 5-a-side tourneys for all age brackets. A BBQ outside selling all the usual guff. The pandas mixing with fans. local bands on a mobile stage, stalls from local community groups. Beat the goalie etc. bouncy castles. A bar. Merchandise stall open. Maybe injured/suspended players out mixing with fans. Face painting for kids. Etc etc... All culminating at 3pm in kick-off - free entry for under 12s who were at the open day. A much happier crowd. Pulling in people from all over the district, non-saints fans, former OF fans, fringe supporters all coming to bring the kids, meet mates etc.
All scottish football clubs are so narrow-minded in the way they present the matchday experience. St Mirren could be leading the way in community involvement and attracting more fans.

anybody who hasn't done so should buy a season ticket now, as long as it's what they are able to and want to do, don't hang about , you can help the club immediately, then lets see what else we can do when we know the size of the problem

Got to say, and this is just my personal view. If Celtic fans want to do something like that - which is actually a positive thing rather than a negative thing - let's ride with it. I'm going to try and get to a few more away games too. There's one huge issue facing all of us at the moment - the less talk of boycotts and reprisals amongst any supporters, the better.

Interesting to find out how this new fraternity amongst clubs pans out. Can it include Celtic?...Fans are planning to buy St Mirren scarves for their visit to Paisley and show them as a sign of unity in the SPL vote. They also want to make sure every away ticket is bought..... Thank fcuk red dots don't exit anymore but hey I'm only the messenger so don't shoot!

I think the aim is that once we know what the club is facing we will engage with the board and ask them if they want help from our members.
If that is an offer they want to take up we would email the members and ask for their approval. Any money we used would need to be in the form of a loan to the club or on the understanding that it was to be used as a reduction in the selling price.
I don't think it would be in the members interests to simply "give" money to the club otherwise we'd effectively end up inflating the selling price for ourselves to then pay again !
The mechanics of amending the direct debit total are quite straight forward. All you would do would be to login to your GoCardless.com account, cancel the existing direct debit and then go through the sign up process again via 10000Hours, choosing your new monthly amount. This time you would not need to create a new GoCardless account of course.
We will wait and see what happens and what the club want to do, but we are in a strong position to help and I would hope that the likes of SMiSA would also be up for assisting if they were asked by the club.

Good statement. I'm well up for doing whatever I can to 'ease the pain' of this affair. Seemed to me that a lot of good dialogue - with zero in-fighting or shouting the odds, was achieved on Monday and Tuesday.
Could be a good idea to do that again. Main stand - but the topic of discussion is coming up with ideas and maybe going about setting up some mechanism for club and fans to implement the workable ideas.

As I've already posted on page 1 of this thread mate, SG et al WANT out. They reiterated loud and clear on Tuesday night.
I suspect they might hang around a little longer to help steady the ship in turbulent times, but they are for the off, and who would blame them?

Let's assume sponsors need supporters custom, otherwise why sponsor football? Well, if they choose to walk away then let us leave them to. They will drive away custom just as much as Scottish football will drive them away.
Let's not be held to ransom for the sake of a pittance of sponsorship money and actually show some ambition.

Sky and the rest of the sponsors were smart enough to put the clause in the contracts because the Old Firm have indicated their intentions to shaft us all by moving down south. Why would the rest of the SPL clubs not do the same with their players?
I know it was a long shot but obviously not long enough to put 99% of the leagues sponsors off adding this clause. Hmmmmmm

Let's be honest nobody should WANT administration and what that brings. IMHO our club has no chance of going down this route and as such the question raised by 10000hrs is bollocks. I intend to ask this question tomorrow as our club can always ask our top players if they would like to leave for free or wait for pence in the pound.......A no brainer for me. But hey I'm only a supporter. Seemingly they are all on 2 yr contracts and will demand the full payout. Total and utter pish!
