  1. Fair play to Jim Duffy for appearing to tell his player how stupid he was... Now come on Saints!
  2. We were trying to do that early on and missing him every time. As long as the midfield stop being lackadaisical and sloppy with occasional passes there is nothing wrong with playing football. Our best chances have come from that with 3 fantastic balls in from Naismith and the cross from Morgan leading to the corner... If the back 4 can hit Sutton in the second half then I agree with safety first...when needed. You can see why Morton are where they are in the league. Physical and niggly. We need another goal for some daylight. Thankfully Willie Collum isn't the ref today with the rain.
  3. The back 4 need to start finding Sutton in that case. I'd prefer quick balls wide and good deliveries into the box...
  4. Disagree 50-50 thus far. The conditions are winning mind you...
  5. I agree. Good post, however we have the benefit of being able to only finish 9th and then win the playoffs. Have the playoffs been around for the last 20 years to cover all those 9th place relegations? A lot of work to do but I think we will if we keep up recent progress...a win against Morton would go a long way to boosting morale...both on the pitch and on here...
  6. Completely agree (although Europe would be dreamland), did the same, will likely do the same again if similar vote in the future and will accept the outcome/difference of opinion as I have done this time round.
  7. I agree Sonny. It will always be Love Street for me as well.
  8. Agree with there. Still an awful lot to do. It is a bit of a downer the draw, but JR has put the right spin on it with post match comments (wanting to repeat 7pts out of 9 each 3 game cycle). The last three games are a massive step in the right direction. Still problems to solve but looks like we have a fighting chance now...
  9. We were by far the better team yesterday in all bar the first 10-15mins of the second half. We looked in control, played better football, had some lovely interchanges of play, typified by the move that led to the penalty, and really should have taken 3 points. It is easy to see how Ayr have the points on the board already with their compact style and ability to soak up pressure and then make the most of a few chances. Sadly we still seem unable to avoid basic mistakes at the back and therefore we have to be far more clinical up front (harking back to Tom Hendrie's 'we'll just score one more than them' promotion season). That said whilst I accept it was 2 points dropped, that's three league games without a defeat, 7 points from 9, sustained progress in terms of performance (from middle to front) and all together there is much more positivity around the place than there was 2-3weeks ago. If JR can sort out the frailties at the back, we are onto something. If we perform like that every week from here on in we should be fine. Sadly the fact Ayr, Dumbarton and Dunfermline all have the points on the board makes things a lot more challenging but if the same effort and application can be maintained, we'll get there...
  10. A slightly more positive take would be that we really should win on the basis of the first half performance. Ayr look reasonable on the break, but bar our defence switching off (resulting in the above best chance/bad miss for Ayr) they are not offering much more than that. We are on top and need to put the game to bed with a goal. Morgan the stand out player so far for me.
  11. I appreciate being bottom of the second tier of Scottish football puts us in a poor negotiating position, but can we not propose a deal with slightly less cash (with the same benefits for kits for various teams within the club) with the following caveats: 1. A contractual agreement re: release date of replica strips 2. The ability to sell replica strips etc in the club shop This would keep both sides happy...those who see the financial benefits and those who have been sorely let down by the abysmal customer service... Win-win for all?
  12. Just in and saw the result... Yes, yes, yes...COYS! Season turns here???
  13. With complete ignorance and without prying is this something that the £2 fund could easily facilitate or are you talking about investment on another level?
  14. The fourth official seemed to talk to Clarke during the second half after a word with Ross. The commentators on Saints radio thought it may have been for wandering from the technical area. Must not have taken kindly to Jack's intervention (at least that was my reading of it).
  15. You'll not hear me disagreeing with you on any of that... Sadly it is all about how we turn things around from where we are now. We're huffing and puffing with no end product on the evidence of tonight. As I've said above, my first thought from what I've seen there is that I'd have Morgan on the right and McAllister on the left as proper wingers and Sutton up top with only job being putting the ball in net. The highlights at the end there had the significant majority of chances for us. Sadly in between, in open play Dunfermline always looked more dangerous. I think we really are too light weight and missing perhaps two strong players at centre half and central midfield - to shore up the defence and provide a bit of steel to let the youngsters play in the middle of the park respectively. Perhaps I'm being too positive, the league table doesn't lie, but that's the first things that I would do to try and sort...
  16. Clarke refused a hand shake...who knows why... Regardless all round we must do better. There are some talented young guys in that team, just missing the right older heads to guide them. Ideally a stronger and older centre half and central midfielder would go a long way on that performance. The league table is painful to see...
  17. It's sad though that we were debating that in the Premier league not too long ago with reference to our current league...
  18. All see things differently. Been quiet since his shot on target leading to Sutton's miss but I thought he started the half well...
  19. Is Morgan left footed (wondering why he is on the left wing when McAllister so left footed). McAllister needs to work on his right foot, has played well but could have been more effective putting ball in with right there...
  20. Unlucky at the other end directly after though. From hapless mix-up, great save, then 2 or 3 half chances. First ball from Naismith was fantastic. Shankland just didn't get there sliding in at the back post... We look dangerous with the ball going wide early and getting balls in. Otherwise we look relatively aimless...
  21. Sutton easily winning balls in the box. Get it wide and get balls into him. Simple as that...
  22. Better dig from Mallan in the middle of the park. Drove forward well with reasonable effort saved from 20 yards. More of that please.
  23. He has been poor in my opinion. He has harried them when not on the ball but he has done virtually nothing with it. If we had someone stronger in the centre I'd take him off and go 4-5-1 but essentially 4-3-3 when we had the ball - 2 sitting midfielder and Mallan supporting...
  24. Hard to disagree, but watching on Alba (having not seen many games this season) the young boys on the wing are doing well. If we keep Sutton up top and on the end of crosses we have a chance. That said we are very shaky at the back... Mallan lacking confidence. Missing the influence of someone like Goodwin doing the dirty work to let him play.
