The sell on fee percentage being a perennial reward for future sales is a great reward as long as the the player is bought rather than moving on out of contract. It means we as fans have more of a vested interest in former players doing well and is vindication of our investment in the youth policy adopted by the club. Hopefully that is the case...

I think he’ll go from strength to strength down south. If he does well with Villa you could easily see a £10million+ move in a year or two, specifically because of the cash in English football and because he has that potential.

Celtic have lost out big time as he seemed the natural successor to Brown.

In summary, great player, lots of potential, great move for him, Saints and Hibs and hopefully the gift that keeps on giving...well done Gilmour and co for your negotiation skills and to all those instrumental in his development in the youth teams at Saints as well as the managers who played him regularly and gave him time to develop.

Not the best of games, but we did more than enough prior to today to allow us the luxury of a 0-0 to get us over the line. There can’t have been many more 0-0 results celebrated with such gusto.

Players saluting the fans and vice versa at the end was the highlight for me. Although Jack’s thanks to all walking round afterwards probably pipped it.

Even listening to his and then Tony’s interview on Radio Scotland on the way home added to the day. There does seem to be a bond there and hopefully in can continue to grow...top 4 or maybe even winning the top league and I would take Jack over Brendon any day of the week...what a man Tony Fitz is - Mr Saint Mirren indeed.

Stelios time wasting on three separate occasions as an unused sub was also pretty funny to see for anyone in the Westbank who may have missed it.

Have a safe night everyone, here’s hoping the feel good factor lasts...

    1. Fair play to the club for asking.

    2. This clearly will help the club in a number of ways.

    3. The club surely need to examine all methods of funding acquisition prior to dipping into it’s own funds.

    4. That said ‘Ring Fenced’ funds for the sole purpose of purchasing shares to obtain a controlling share of the club, surely should be solely used for this purpose?

    5. Why, if the first team have not been training on the pitch this season was this proposal not made sooner?

    6. Surely an open and transparent mechanism would have been to do one of the following:
    a. State at the outset of the campaign to BtB that the ‘Ring Fenced’ £10 spend may at times be dipped into but only at the expense of and not exceeding the £2 spend.
    b. State at the outset or with any of the votes since that some of the £2 spend would be set aside in advance for alternative capital investment either anticipated (as this should clearly have been given the details about the quality this year) or non anticipated ‘rainy day’ funding.
    c. Offer members a clear opportunity to consider a change to the use of the ‘Ring Fenced’ funding with a clear explanation of the implications of such a move.

The SMISA committee/board clearly were aware of the potential sensitivity of this issue with the effort taken to articulate the proposal in the way they have done. Why not offer members an opportunity in advance to consider such a potential proposal? The current scenario suggests trying to curry favour rather than than actually using the funds for their stated purpose.

A lot will depend on what our formation and tactics will be next season. Getting promoted and losing Morgan mean that it will be difficult to play 4-2-3-1 and I would imagine we’d be playing a 4-5-1 most of the time if we set out this way.

Only Jack will know, but Stelios has all the attributes to play as a left wing back in a 5-3-2. As mentioned he’s great going forward but at times has been caught with the purely defensive side. The Aberdeen game was case and point with our goal coming from his attacking drive but x2 at the other end coming from mistakes.

Had it not been for those attacking attributes we’d be playing league 1 football this season rather being on the verge of promotion to the premier league...

Had we won it would have been a massive step ahead of Livi. On the other hand, they had to win to stand any chance of catching us...

The response this weekend will speak volumes and hopefully will be another step forward to the championship...

I know (see the comment before about a particular League Cup Semi Final) just making sure others did too. No need to apologise...I think the perspective thread about what a difference a year makes is stands true for the fans as well as the team mind you...

Don’t think you can fault the travelling Buddies. They out sang the home support and genuinely were excellent from watching on tv. Was more talking about the rest of the team. With limited opportunities he took his goal well, did a fair bit of closing down and held the ball up well at times.

I agree with others no need to be too down hearted they are the second best team in the country.

Also given where we are in the league championship winners comes miles ahead of being dejected about today’s performance. Back to winning ways next week and the feel good factor will return...
