The current system isn't adequate though and despite numerous public attempts to attract potential donors, the ratio of organs available to organs needed continues to be skewed in the wrong direction as a result. This situation will only get worse as the operations become more successful and expertise in the area increases. Therefore as apathy is a major issue, this change forces people to decide, therefore rather than leaving already distraught families with an awful decision to make the issue is addressed in advance.
I personally wouldn't see it as government intrusion, but as a means to an end seeing as government policy changes are the only way to achieve it.
Ethically it is a big shift in decision making but for the greater good of society as a whole I think it's a good decision. It would not be required if enough people were donors, but seems to be a sensible way to get people to think about an issue, for a situation which in all honesty none of us wants to be in.

Everyone will be assumed to be an organ donor unless they previously have stated they are opposed to organ transplantation. The organs will not be kept for any other purpose as you elude to above. The key factor is the difficulty involved in the discussions with families in such cases however with a change in society's view, hopefully this will go smoothly and be a success. If religious bodies and personal opinion mean people don't want to be a donor then fair enough, but if the majority would be happy to get a donated organ if they needed it then why automatically assume they wouldn't want to donate?Don't get me wrong it's a very delicate area on a personal level, but on a population level it makes sense.

All about opinions and shows how subjective football can be. Ultimately these decisions and resultant success or not are what Danny will be judged on, however he will have made these decisions over time and with a lot of contemplation.Sometimes faces fit. Sometimes players play well. Other times it doesn't work out. I wish both Carey and Imrie (and the others who are leaving) all the best for the future and thank them for their contribution but to be honest I'm neither up nor down by the thought of any of last years crop of players that are leaving.
Carey had some great games (Celtic in the Semi for one) and scored some cracking goals but often was quiet and lacked consistency. Imrie just wasn't the same player he has been at other clubs. Both will find new clubs and hopefully do well (but hopefully not against us).

Danny's decision. Bit of a waste given transfer fee, but i'm neither up nor down with the decision. Sadly didn't work out for Imrie with us but wish him all the best for the future.

All the years of rationalising the irrational, of the many lows and occasional highs, of the disappointments, how close we came to going out of existence, and all of the things only we could do, turned to unbridled ecstasy in one amazing match, which seemed to have it all. It really was a cathartic experience and although there was never any wavering of conviction with everything that has gone before, it certainly made it all seem like a walk in the park. What a wonderful tribute encompassing all of the great things that happened that day.
I love St.Mirren, and what that day will mean to me for the rest of my life.

I don't know if I've ever met you my fellow Buddie but 3. and 4. have me greeting right now. All the best with whatever has to come. I hope it's early and curable and even if it turns out that it isn't, remember it's not the end, just the start of a new chapter and journey for your dad, you and the family. Stay strong. Also tell your dad he is a wonderful man for 3. regardless of how it feels now.
ETA: I hope that isn't stepping over the mark, but I felt compelled to write that more than anything else I've ever written on here.

    Am - Pre match build
up with family and friends. Much talk of 87 & 2010. Nerves are getting the
better of me. Travel to the ground is done in silence, there is lots of noise
around me but I am not there.

My normal prematch butterflies don’t exist I just feel waves
    of nausea .

2.59 – My heart is pounding so hard and loud I am sure it to
the beat of “O when the saints”

3.10 – Hearts Score my head in in my hands, but I still
#Believe that we can overturn this

3.25– Hearts are ripping us apart, we are getting none of
the breaks. I fear the worst

3.32 – Something happens !!! Between the showers and the
beating on the pitch, the sun breaks briefly through the clouds. From where I
am sitting it appears to be only shining over the St Mirren End and our fans. At that point I believed and knew that this
    was our day.

The team were starting to fight back.

3.37 – Thompson flicks to Teale, Teale runs in to the box
and I just want him to shoot, I am willing him to shoot, I am shouting SHOOT !
SHOOT!. He passes ???? NO NO!!!!! Across
the box on the run of Gongalves. Bang ! Goal !. We are about to make history.

5.01 – Thompson steps up and lives out my and every other St
Mirren fans boyhood dream and scores in to the top corner of the goal in the
final of a national cup final at Hampden. The only bit that is missing is that
is in the first minute not the last minute. I want the game to end there and then.

I no longer believe, I know that we are going to win the
    cup.

4:50 – We are the champions I am hugging grown men and women
that I have never me in my life.

PM – Back to Paisley to see the streets lined with people,
County Square is packed with boys, girls women and men of all ages all wearing
    black and white.

For one moment I looked around and we were One Town, One
    Team.

Sunday will live with me for the rest of my life !
