  1. And where does the Bible give an actual date for the creation of the world (or Jesus birthday)? Maybe we should label science as dangerous too since some atheistic scientist reject evolution on scientific grounds and argue for a 'young earth'.
  2. So what will become of this just ONE adult or CHILD attending church because of St Mirren FC, Why are they in peril?
  3. You obviously have a well informed and balanced view of religion. Have quite a few influential scientists over the last few centuries not been 'religious' and yet able to help further a scientific understanding of the world? Could it be that religious people have different views of creation / the origin of the universe just as scientists also do? Some atheistic scientists reject Darwinism as being 'bad science' in their opinion. Exactly why do you think that possibly letting a local congregation have a weekly hire at the football ground = someone at the club is "pushing this drive towards organised religion at our football club"?, If the let goes ahead I am sure the congregation in question will get as much backing from St Mirren in terms of an organised push as the RAC did when they held a conference at the ground. You will be alarmed to learn that there was already a conference about prayer held at St Mirren Park last month and will have no doubt been aware of all the resulting Bible-bashing at the matches ever since. If St Mirren are happy to let the facilities for a weekly hire, why does that have to amount to any group taking a weekly hire having to buy into the CiC as a business partner paying £10k per year?
  4. As someone who works for a non-denominational Christian organisation I so wish people would realise that the Old Firm sectarian scandal has next to nothing to do with the Christian 'religion'. The sectarian bile they sing is basically POLITICAL and relates to whether Ireland should be united and ruled from Dublin or divided with the North continuing to be part of the UK and ruled from Westminster. The links to paramilitary support of the IRA or UVF again is a political issue rather than a religious one. I don't hear any r*ngers of c*ltic fans singing or shouting about any of the theological issues which make Protestant Christian and Catholic Christian distinct from each other: the authority of the Bible v the authority of tradition; whether it is right to call the Pope the 'head' of the church or Mary the 'Mother of God' etc. The only concern I would have over a congregation using St Mirren's facilities to have their church meetings would be if they were at the loony tune extreme end of theological spectrum and were guilty of encouraging sectarianism Many churches no longer meet in traditional church buildings because of the costs of maintaining an old building often built in the 18th or 19th century and not all that practical for multipurpose use today. I know of several churches in Renfrewshire meeting in school buildings or community centres or further afield there are churches meeting in coffee shops, a pub and a former cinema. St Mirren Park's function suite has been used to host seminars and workshops for RAC and other organisations since it opened, if a church reckons the facilities would suit them then why not let them hire it as any other local business or community group could. If a Zumba dance class were wanting to do a weekly hire would there be the same fuss?
  5. Ooh the irony! I presume you don't know Richard either but you are prepared to insult him (he's a fanny etc) on a public forum. Is Richard only allowed to make comments you agree with then?
  6. are Motherwell not interested in going down a similar CIC route post-Boyle?
  7. Was that 10 years ago when we were a first division club struggling to stay full time and with the bank wanting their millions we owed them back asap? 10 years later we are debt free, with a new stadium we own, a new training complex we have a long lease on, and have played the last 5 seasons in the SPL. Can't imagine why gven the change in circumstances the shares may be worth a lot more now.
  8. Come one Danny let's go for it this weekend

  9. If he was already bored with Scottish football and wanting out because it was boring in the 80s (when Aberdeen and Dundee Utd won PL titles) it's safe to assume he's not interested in coming back now. Didn't really paint a fond picture of his St Mirren days... got signed because we turned up on the wrong day and thought the United game was rotten even though he didn't come in with high hopes for much quality it sounded like he was still disappointed!
  10. think we'll do it on Sunday
