  1. I wish I could agree that's the true motivation rather than sticking two fingers up at the club formerly known as one half of the old firm... and you can bet that's how they'll be painting it.
  2. I'm not sure how you measure how 'big' a club is. Can anyone enlighten me? I've never thought of us a 'big' club at all, or that it mattered one little bit.
  3. Because there are people people who post regularly on forums who are immature /opinionated /ego-driven losers who would be living a real life if they weren't posting on online forums (like me)
  4. Fair enough mate. You are right there, and point taken, though the other side of that coin is people who post on here as if the world has ended because this or that player looks like moving on. Anyway, I'll not make throw-away comments in future! We all want the Saints to do well and better. I totally agree we should be looking to build on what we've got, whichis good and I think probably the strongest squad / team I've seen since the late 70's team of my youth. With some tweaking, bit of player development etc they might hopefully achieve as much before too long.
  5. I agree with you despite you consistently conflating my words. It might not be easy, but it's clearly possible. Yes it's a shame when good players move on, but that is football. Look at it this way, who'd heard of Tesselaar before he signed for us? And yet, there's the evidence on the pitch of good (maybe better) players who were out there. I don't need a list (nor did I claim to have one) to know that.
  6. Is that supposed to be sarcasm? At no point did I say there were players 'lining up at our door' as you imply. I just mean no-one is irreplaceable. I agree they've been good players for saints and admire Tesselaar in particular. Travner was considered pretty good too I think; and many on here were sorry he didn't re-sign, yet the replacement has if anything been an improvement. In my view, with our resources the players we will attract will tend to be around the same quality.
  7. Would be a shame to lose either player, but as ever there are plenty out there at least as good.
  8. Hang on a minute. I don't care about any club other than Saints one way or another but let me get this straight. A club who've arguably rooked all the other clubs in the Scottish league through sharp practice are the ones imposing the sanctions... ?
  9. Big Country Communion 2 did anyone hear Peter Hook being interviewed last week on the radio and then interviewing John Cooper clarke? Good stuff, and very funny in places. Though I laughed loudest when hooky claimed that the members of Joy division were brilliant musicians... talk about hubris - great band maybe but no question they were technically limited. I roadied for New Order a couple of times when i was at Uni He's a top bloke, the others were tossers though.
  10. Yeah, it was pedantic, sorry. I'm right though.

  11. no it's no. An anniversary commemorates the date something happened in the previous year.

  12. Good question. One one level, probably none. On another, it depends on the level and extent of commitment of investors who can drift away from drawn-out multilateral arrangements where the basis of their original commitment was a a conditional "I will , if you will..." if their confidence wanes on the ability of the CIC to nail it down.
  13. Knuckles cover? Think my brother had it. We still cite Slade Alive as one the greatest ever live hard rock albums. I saw them once years ago joint headlining with Motorhead. They blew even them away (and Motorhead were VERY loud). top band, seriously uinderrated due to silly spelling and Merry Xmas everybody. I read the other day that Noddy was supposed to replace Bon Scott in AC/DC but he declined.
  14. Agreed, as I get older the more i go back to the stuff I listened to as a kid/teen. First single I bought was Jean Genie and one by Sweet I think, possibly Blockbuster. from the record dept upstairs at Menzies? at the cenotaph possibly. I must have been around 10... First single as a teenager was Pretty Vacant (same shop) which was very exciting at the time. First album bought and still my favourite - Animals. I remember running home from school to watch 'Marc' tv show on the telly some time in the 70s. Brilliant guests - Bowie, the fantastic Gen X, the Jam and the great (adopts Jimmy Saville voice) Showaddywaddy. Must have been '77 or so. Ah.
  15. And another good shout, there's real music fans on this site. Right back at you:
  16. Gitcha Green Dot for that one, Red Team!
  17. and I paid £2.50 to get in.... (I'd have paid double to get out)
  18. Maybe a new thread but what's the worst band you've ever seen? For me it has to be the Ramones. Truly useless, played what sounded like the same song 23 times, remarkably never once in tune/time. I know music's subjective, but they must be the most overrated pop group of all time whose current iconic status bears no relation to the joke they were at the time.
  19. Last 2 listens Count Arthur Strong - Charley's Soddin' Ant The Gun Club - Miami
  20. I've said before he could be a good addition to our squad. I get the feeling he's one of these players who needs to be loved and hasn't really enjoyed the kind of support to bring out the best in him so far in his career. (So maybe we're not the best club for him....) . I for one would like to see him in the stripes.
  21. I'm right footed but I like to think I could hit the ball pretty well with my left too. In fact I er practiced it to improve... Does this thread perhaps highlight the limitations of modern coaching tending to work on players' strengths rather than perceived weaknesses?
  22. Great site Roy I remember when Saints used to play (and win) in the Anglo-Scottish cup and it seemed like most of the teams wore black and white, the best strip in the world. Here's one from my second homeland of Sweden. Buddies of a certain vintage don't really like to talk of Swedish teams, but in this case I'll make an exception: Landskrona http://svenskfotboll.se/superettan/lag/?flid=25522 Barney
