should be pretty easy to replace. Not fussed at all.

barney reacted to Sonny in Speculation Thread
Our policy of signing big name players (and double named players) who have history of injury and are on a fast moving downward spiral has not exactly worked out in the past (or even the season just finished). McFadden has serious injury problems and low fitness levels allegedly. Leave him well alone.

Could tempt them with the chance to win the cup back. It would only trophy they'd have this side of the new season!

barney reacted to Dave The Buddie in Stabbed In The Back
I am and always will be a St Mirren supporter but I have swaying on renewing my season ticket mainly due to value for money but this has swung it and I won't be renewing it after the appointment our new manager.
I will be cheering on the boys and supporting our new manager as always but I am embarrassed on how this has come about and the BoD have to take the majority of the blame
If I was DL I would be raging as this has not just happened in the last 24 hours but must have conspired and planned for weeks possibly months behind his back by our BoD, his assistant, his captain and one of his senior players in Teale. Disgusting treatment for our cup winning manager he has been stabbed in the back by people close to him...
You deserved better Danny no matter what people thought of you.

As I've said before you can enter the season with trepidations but get behind them from the start. If you are on their back from the get go then it's already doomed to failure.
I'll give them my backing until such times as I feel it's not deserved.

stevie clarke taking over would be a beautiful, though unlikely thing.

barney reacted to Lex in Danny Lennon - 4 Season League & Cup Report Card
2010/2011
The infamous summer of Beath. Danny comes straight from the 2nd Division and seems to believe the players who done a job for him there will do a job for him in the big league.
Not surprisingly, the result is a disgrace of a campaign and failure in both cups. A combination of Michael Higdon and a terrible Hamilton side somehow keep us above 12th.
2011/12
Danny seemed to have learned his lesson in the transfer market, and recruits some top players. Thompson, Carey, Teale, Hasselbaink, Tesselaar all arrive and succeed to some degree, McLean comes onto the scene.
However, the team continues to underachieve. We can't get near the top 6, much less in it, and we flop at home to Ayr United in the League Cup.
12/13
We regress alarmingly in the league, going from 8th and comfortable the season before to 11th and nervous. The attention from this is diverted by 5 games and a glorious cup win.
The glory and performance levels in the cups goes further to highlight the infuriating lack of consistency the team is displaying. 1 week we are losing 4-1 at home to Ross County, the next we are beating Celtic at Hampden.
13/14
Danny's cup win grants him a stay of execution and one last chance at taking the club forward. He fails. A complete mess of a summer transfer window sees us lose 5 of our first 6 games and crash out the league cup to lower league opponents. He goes someway to rectify his mistakes in January, punting all but one of his summer duds out the door, at the clubs expense. Not surprisingly results improve.
For the fourth season running we are nowhere near the top 6, and spend most of the campaign in or around 11th. Thankfully we turn it around in 5 crucial end of season games and secure our safety for another season.
However, our captain regards it as yet another season of underachievement.
My conclusion is that, apart from the Cup win, Danny's reign has been a failure. We are regressing not progressing. I really can't see how any Buddie thinks he has a case for a new contract.

Try going to a game and seeing for yourself. -

St Mirren now cannot finish in the bottom two. The permutations of results prove that beyond all doubt. So let me take this opportunity to congratulation the team, Danny Lennon, and everyone associated with the club.

barney reacted to TediousTom in How Many Points?
To return this very forum thread to the very subject that it was initially intended to disuss I shall step forward, take the mantle if you will and make a prediction as to the number of points our fine team require to reach in the SPFL relegation group, or bottom six if you will, in order to avoid the contest that will be known as the relegation play-off.
In most season's where only one team drops through the trap door of relegation it is commonly accepted that a points total of around 34 points is (in most cases) sufficient to "avoid the drop". This season however such a points total is unlikely to be sufficient as we have the added excitement of the "play off" as already discussed and as is common knowledge. As such one may assume that 34 points is unlikely to result in the relaxation that safety will provide, not at all.
Our beloved team currently have 34 points, as a prediction I would wager that a further six points is entirely reasonable to expect and once our beloved team achieve the 40 point mark I predict that safety will be achieved.
34 points will not be enough
37 points could be enough
40 points will be enough
Ladies and Gentlemen of the forum, I present you with a prediction......40 points!

Going to be a strange one this. On the one hand, I love going to Firhill and the Friday night scenario with a huge Saints support will make it even better. On the other, I'm with you Lex. I will find it very difficult not to completely associate the game with what happened to Simon last time round. It'll be very strange to remember having a few jars with him before and after in the Star and Garter. Let's just hope we do him proud and get a convincing win just like last time. -
barney reacted to div in Open Letter To Mr. Stuart Gilmour
Stewart reads B&W Army regularly, and as alluded to by Tam he is always up for a chat with concerned supporters.
The board are not daft. They are all St.Mirren minded men. They will be hurting as much as everyone else after last nights performance.
We need to rely on them to make the right decisions in the interest of the football club.

Agreed but, quite rightly, the damage was down when we only drew with Thistle and lost to Hearts
I's have hoped for 4 points and we got 1.

barney reacted to Lex in No More Business Today
So, at the start of the window we were a bit light at the back and most fans thought we needed defensive reinforcements.
What's the Danny Lennon solution?
Release 3 defenders who have around 500 top flight games between them and then sign 2 wingers and a striker.
Welcome to the Danny Lennon school of squad management, I hope you enjoyed today's lesson.

barney reacted to Lex in Wrong Attitude
The question is, why does he keep signing players with known attitude issues?
Harkins being the prime example.
He lets go of Imrie because of a bad attitude and Carey because of fitness issues.
He replaces them with Harkins, who not only has a bad attitude, but fitness issues too.
Baffling.
