Deals for him and Shankland have moved closer but still work to do from what Douglas McNeil is saying

Someone on twitter saying it's a done deal, wasn't Douglas McNeil but someone posted to him

There needs to be a time scale placed on this deal, if he decides next week our offer isn't good enough then it leaves little time to get a different player in, plus we are losing money each time he's there, might only be a few quid but it's still money wasted if he doesn't join, give him another day to make up his mind then send him in his way

Agree with nearly everything here, even playing Jim in a midfield 4 this year could work in my opinion, yeah he got caught a few times last season but the standard has dropped. He'd be in my midfield no matter who else is available as he's the only player in the squad who can put his foot through the ball. Agnew and Carswell will get bullied alone in there this season so Goody provides protection an allows them to be more creative

If people are worried about the state of the team and performances they have every right to be. There was nothing positive to come out of Saturday for the team, yeah it may take time but here's the issue, we've know when the season starts for 2 months and we still aren't anywhere near ready. Formation changes, no sort of settled 11, a threadbare squad made mostly of young lads. Pre season is there for a reason, yeah it's only 3 games but if any fan has been excited by what we've been served so far then the expectations are far too low for a club like ours. We have fans who will always see the best in any situation which is fine, we have fans who no matter what, will moan and moan. But without being happy clappers or knicker wetters we all just want a successful team on the park, at the moment it looks miles away but let's hope things improve quickly

Anyone who feels Jim won't add to our starting 11 has been watching the wrong team for far to long. Jim is no world beater but he knows how to get stuck in and disrupt other teams. Our midfield is so small and lightweight that we just don't compete. Yesterday was embarrassing from start to finish

Goodwin must be brought back to that midfield, don't think we won a tackle today as we were sitting so far off them. His experience will help both the defence behind him and the players next to him

So one paced, conlan, Carswell, gow, Gallacher, and Morgan all gone missing. Morgan had 1 decent cross but it's pointless when we have 1 guy in the box. Very disappointed to say the least. Dumbarton are bossing us all over the park

Lost the 2nd goal too easily at his near post, positioning was very poor, great save at the end but got a bit unlucky that the ball rebounded back to sheils

Can't believe some are slaughtering Thommo. He played alone up top against 4 defenders at times. Yeah he's not as mobile as he was a few years back, but he will be vital for us when we go with 2 up. Lone striker he isn't, legend and vital to our season he is, double figures will be achieved. We won't play rangers every week. Some folk need a reality check on here

More positives than negatives, going forward with pace and guys like mcmullan will cause teams lots of problems. Thought defensively we were decent after the first 25, second goal was criminal, just not matching the run then keeper beaten at near post. Our goal was superb. Just knew Thommo was going to miss, he's miss hit a couple of pens and he wasn't having his best game. He's certainly not finished at this level it was just a bad night at the office. Our season starts next week do 3 points and we are off and running

No sure how much it is fans are knicker wetting. Could it not be the case that we've known for 2 months where we need to strengthen and 1 week before the season starts we still don't have any of these positions filled. Players take time to gel so the longer we leave it, the further behind we could fall. If fans are confident that's great, it's not happy clapping, if others are worried it's no knicker wetting, it's all opinions

Playing against what I would imagine is a very decent championship side, but looking at our squad it's worrying how lightweight we are. It could be a very tough season ahead if the right players aren't added by the Morton game, we can right off the game next week, that means little to where we will finish this season
