Did wonder how me eating nuts would affect someone else, so I checked up. Apparently some folk are that sensitive to nuts that if they were to touch something that at a nut eater had just touched it can bring on a reaction.

I can't see how stopping you from eating nuts on a plane prevents you from having been in contact with them.

Drastic oversimplification on the drink there

most drinks were above the minimum unit price when it was introduced and only the high strength changed significantly

my wife has Finromyalgia and her rheumatologist told us that smoking in homes was to blame

she told us the SNP had a plan to ban all tobacco sales that was dropped after the tobacco companies threatened to ruin the country with law suits

I’d agree Sunak’s ban is gibberish though and he is only doing it to lay a trap for the incoming government

The bit in bold is absolutely wrong. There wasn't one usual drink unaffected. Beer, whisky, vodka, you name it, was affected by the stupid, blanket blame unit pricing. I hate the tory philosophy with a vengeance but, in this instance, I have to agree with their stance. Remember the excess money accrued by the ridiculous minimum price policy only lines the pockets of those selling the drink. Almost mirroring what happens with illegal drink/drug sales.

  3. Another nanny state interference. And it will never work. There was a 40 something woman actually interviewed saying, and I kid you not, "I wish the ban was in place when I was 11!. BIG NEWS HEN. IT WAS! You were smoking illegally.

The only way this can work medium to long term is the introduction of identity cards to show you're 25, not 24, or 35, not 34.

I stopped smoking almost 30 years ago but, if the government are allowing sale of tobacco to one adult, it should be the same for all adults. Yes. Use education as a weapon against it but not this.

It's bad enough that the overbearing Scottish Parliament is trying to stop all those but the well off to have a drink without interfering even more with people's rights.

  4. Disappointed not to take all three points. VAR once again fecked us. Given the fact the obvious penalty that wasn't awarded would have possibly given us a one goal advantage, there is no certainty it would have changed the result but it does prove, if proof was needed, that VAR in this country does nothing to improve the game north of Hadrian's wall.

I previously said i think we can get 4th on GD if we at least match Killie's other results and beat them Post-split

It will be very tight though and is really not in our hands as they only have to draw against us and match our points from other games.

4th place would be great but only on it's own merits, Europe is an unnecessary drag on our pre-season and has proven a huge millstone for other clubs of our size in Scotland.  We are 3 players short of a side capable of getting through qualifying and unless you qualify for the group stages it's a bit of a money pit.

It's not even certain we'll be top six yet. I think I'll wait until I see where we are after the next two games. IF we pick up points and Killie don't, or vice versa, your scenario changes.

I do agree that a short Euro adventure might stretch us but there are so many younger fans who never got to experience our past exploits that I couldn't begrudge them the opportunity.

Always better to be at a game for sure. Especially over the last couple of seasons. VAR is, IMO, a mixed blessing in that it is useful for very close offside decisions. However, the rule on handball is still open to much interpretation by different officials. An ex senior ref on radio recently read out the rule which appears to say simply that any handball in the box, whether accidental or not, should result in a penalty. I would still like more communication to the crowd on what is being looked at. I would rather the correct decision was made rather than a quick one. Re Motherwell game. We have our tickets and will be there. Often games full of incident and I expect this one to be no different. COYS

IF VAR had improved the decision making I would be in favour. IMO, it hasn't. Our system is a cheap and nasty copy of the English version. Add to this my aforementioned concerns. The part of your post I highlighted is a real concern because we HAVE the long delays followed by the WRONG decision. A recipe for ridicule. As for the quote you inserted, (I don't see his posts unless he is quoted), It doesn't matter if it was for us or against us. It was still the wrong decision. The only thing I would say is,  In Paisley, they were wrongly awarded a goal with the last kick of the ball, even with VAR. 1 point instead of 3 points. We won 0-3. In Aberdeen. 3 points instead of, well, 3 points.

Instead of the usual criticism of officials what would be better is to look at the bodies that set the rules that the officials have to interpret.

I challenge anybody to referee in today's environment but just remember we have VAR because fans and clubs couldn't accept the referees decision in the first place. You reap what you sow ??

VAR was brought in without the equipment to actually make it workable. It was meant to ASSIST the on field officials, and, by god, they needed assistance. BUT. The officials are still making the same "errors" even after micro-analysing every decision. The hidden officials are getting involved in situations they should leave alone. As I have already said, No slow or stop motion should be used to upgrade yellow cards as, most times, it makes any challenge look much worse than it is. It's the same for hand ball decisions for penalties. Slow the video down and you see a brush of a sleeve which is usually unintentional and isn't even enough to deviate the flight of the ball. Some of the off side decisions using our cheap system are laughable as we don't have enough cameras to judge them properly.

All in all. I think, given the controversy around the decisions, our form of VAR has actually made things worse and should be scrapped. The money would be far better spent on independent monitoring of officials' performances and for them to be accountable for any obvious atrocious or apparent bias decisions. Maybe then the smaller clubs wouldn't be so unfairly impacted by on field decisions as the officials would know they'd be scrutinised.

    I share your opinion.  👍

    And… as for those of a (Scot’s) nationalist disposition…

… it should be noted the the daft Princes’ followers centuries ago, sang the same song with minor amendments, so that…

…Jacobite beliefs were demonstrated in an alternative verse used during the same period:[45]

God bless the prince, I pray,
God bless the prince, I pray,
    Charlie I mean;
    That Scotland we may see
    Freed from vile Presbyt'ry,
    Both George and his Feckie,
    Ever so, Amen.

    i”m sure this helps.  🤓

And if that were a national anthem of Scotland I'm certain it would goad a reaction from our southern brethren, but it's not, so your point is invalid.

  9. Got our tickets. Bus organised. Just me and the grandson as my missus is fed up with VAR. No matter what some say, I believe VAR IS turning folk off and the increase in numbers attending will be reversed as more and more people will vote with their feet in protest of this ridiculous interference in what was the beautiful game. Numbers were rising before the farce but I can't see more becoming involved while we have this micro management of our game.

Funny thing is, I was hopeful of VAR levelling things up by correcting the disparity in positive decisions for the @rsecheeks. In reality, it's just highlighted the ineptness of our officials and destroyed the atmosphere when a goal is scored.

Back to the game. Heart says narrow victory. Head says, best case scenario? Draw.

    Likewise my Grandmother.

The booing of national anthems is a disgrace!  What a small minded country we really are!  Embarrassing behaviour from the so called "Fun, cuddly and welcoming Tartan Army"!

    Really?

    Verse 6?

Lord grant that Marshal Wade, May by thy mighty aid,

    Victory bring.

May he sedition hush, And like a torrent rush,

    Rebellious Scots to crush

May god get rid of the king (and his hangers on)

OK. Maybe I made the last bit up but I would NEVER advertise the actual line.

I don't think I've heard them boo any other Nation anthem recently.

    I must agree.  :(

(StMirren link in the accompanying pic.  )

I have to say. My missus has almost turned her back on the game. A lifelong buddy, she's fed up with the nonsense that comes with a poor man's VAR and incompetent officials making ridiculous decisions. Long delays and slow motion replays making things look much worse than they were. VAR, if the idiots running our game decide it stays, must be rolled back to only get involved when a really obvious mistake is made. Not set up to micro manage every decision. In fact. Slow motion should not be used at all. If they can't conclusively see a problem in real time, it is NOT, by definition, a clear and obvious mistake

VAR has ruined the game with the offside by a baw hair decisions at times your sitting wondering if it worth celebrating a goal incase you look like a bam when its disallowed ( especially when you know Collums involved in our games) .Between VAR and the handball laws it’s just feckin up the game , go back to refs and linesmen feckin it up without electronic help.

    This

It might be sh!te decisions by the on-field @rseholes but at least it's cheaper sh!te without paying for the hidden sh!ts.

  13. Outside the top three, only Motherwell better us for away points, (and that was on the strength of an impressive but wholly unexpected Ibrox win), so we have some cause for cautious optimism. There is no doubt in my mind, the plastic pitch has given Killie a helping hand this season but I think we can go there with a large away support and give them a bloody nose. Unfortunately I am on standby so can't make the game. I'll just have to hope those who go give the players their loud support and I will keep my powder dry for the Motherwell game.

Heart says 1-3, head says best outcome will probably be 1-1.

Micheal O’Neill strongly rumoured to be going to Aberdeen

This is one that would worry me as Northern Ireland would be looking for a new boss 🫣

O'Neill is on a four year contract and a hefty salary wit NI. Not sure the dons would part with the comp and match the wages.

Don’t mind admitting that after his early games with us & his subsequent slide to Arbroaths bench last season I wondered why we had given him a two year deal .

Early this season he showed some real improvement before slipping back to mediocre again ……however , two goals in two games which helped secure 4 points where 0 looked the most likely outcome has most certainly earned him massive brownie points from me .
He is still very raw , spends as much time on his arse as on his feet and still needs to remember to take the ball with him at times but let’s hope he can continue the form of the last couple of games and more.

It's not just the goals. It's the manner of them. Actual striker type goals. Long may it continue.

Ever present Lewis Mayo sent off yesterday, straight red, will he be suspended for this game with them playing in the cup next week?

Is the rule not that the suspension is in the next match in the competition they were sent off ?

My Dad actually said at the Rangers match that he agreed with Stephen Robinson and their Manager about the pitch being a difficult surface.

I'm not sure what's happened.  As you said, we had one of the best pitches in the country and Tommy Docherty won awards for it.

Is it because of previous preseason resurfacing and it not having enough time to settle in properly?

Are the women not playing at Greenhill Road now?
