Hey if I'm wrong, I'm wrong - I just don't want the next Hibs manager to be Stephen Robinson. Lennon is always good entertainment - especially when things go wrong.

I'll leave the sharing to you!

Perhaps I should have done a fartaway and put an emoji at the end. Now I've said that, read my post again.

And a few others. All rumours I suppose but the important thing is is doesn’t distract the team in the next few games. Remember earlier in the season when we were at Easter Rd and all of us thought he was going to take the NI job.

I'm not into bookies so I may be entirely wrong but I think you might find that is at least partly to do with early betting by punters.

Hibs are a mess just now and whoever goes in will need time to fix it (if they can). I hope the Stephen Robinson factors that in - especially since he has us in great shape in what could be a great season.

Hopefully they’ll go for Lennon and give us all a laugh

Seriously? I think Lennon would do a great job. Make sure you share this!

Whilst I agree with a lot of both your posts, they largely don’t reference the point I’m making. I thought we were talking about the sharing of gate receipts which in my opinion is a naive notion to say the least (does it actually happen anywhere?). I’m not convinced that Coke subsidises Tesco Cola or McDonalds subsidise the burger van at the bottom of St. Mirren Brae (possibly showing my age there).

If you want to talk about the equitable share of prize and TV money that’s another matter. I’d be right behind you. We had the very opportunity to sort that out in 2012 but thanks to Wiggy Milne seeing £££ in his eyes at the prospect of being the second biggest club, we (the league) f**ked that opportunity right up.

Oh and by the way, regarding the OF not existing any more……..

I'll get your last point out of the way. Why should anyone find it more tiresome to ensure the truth is always made clear when the lies are constantly spouted? I find it incredulous that anyone should continuously perpetuate the myth that rangers didn't become extinct.

To get onto your other points.

The analogy you make about coke and tesco etc is, IMHO, nonsense. They compete with product and price. In football there is NO competition without 2 teams o the park.

The reason I brought up the prize money is due to the shareout which is far more generous %wise to the lower league teams than it is in Scotland where, as far as the two @rsecheeks are concerned, is geared up to overwhelmingly benefit the top teams two which, as it stands, (and previously when the "real" rangers were alive), is almost invariably the @rsecheeks. I suspect if that were to change they would be the first to claim unfairness.

Agreed. This is only an issue for teams in Scotland because the old firm have bigger grounds and more fans.
Trying to be objective, why should they subsidise the rest of the league.
You can still draw comparisons to the EPL though. I’m not sure you hear too much moaning from Brentford or Bournemouth that Man Utd and Arsenal earn significantly more in gate revenue.
I know there’s more money generally in the English game but it’s still all relative.
I of course remember the old system, but in this modern age it’s hard to believe that gate sharing was ever a thing.

There’s plenty things I strongly dislike about the old firm but wanting to keep their own money isn’t one of them.

Point 1. There is no such thing as the "Old firm". You can thank me later.

Point 2. We cannot compare the Scottish scene to England. They are on a different stratosphere though I do believe the profits from TV is shared to lower leagues at the expense of those Sky want to televise. This is akin to sharing profits made from their games. You have to remember that there are hardly any games televised from Ipox and porkheed. It's their away games that are televised meaning, due to this and their own fans behaviour at away grounds, it is more likely that people will watch from afar possibly affecting the smaller club's revenue. That's part of the reason for clubs basically giving up their home advantage to generate home revenue,

IF the @rsecheeks are being honest about trying to make our league competitive then even giving a percentage of each game receipts would go some way to redressing the balance. Let's say each club gives 10% of the gate after expenses, to the team who have come to allow them to actually play the game. For clubs of similar size it would amount to almost the same thing as keeping their home gates. I'm not pretending this is the right way to go about it but there must be some way to cover travel costs and paying away staff for actually being there.

  6. New figures show the death rate of alcohol related cases is rising. It has been for most of the time since the introduction of MUP. This policy will NEVER stop those who really think they need their fix. All that will be happening is those who want to drink to excess will forego other things to do so which may well account for the increase in deaths. Even worse is those who depend on what little these people have may well suffer too. Education is a long process but it is the only way to reduce misuse.

I think the likely cause of the latest increase in deaths is partly the aftermath of covid restrictions which gave more people more free time in solitude causing them to drink heavier and the fact that those on low incomes forfeited nourishment in favour of inebriation.

The "do-gooders yet again want the majority to suffer financially in an attempt to pretend they're doing things to tackle something which, for most of us, is NOT a problem. We are going through one of the worst financial crises in many peoples lives and they want to further impoverish the normal working person. A one stop fix is impossible in this, as in many a situation.

At the same time, those with deeper pockets will not even notice the difference in price, even if they have a problem,. More punishing the less well off unfairly. It's beyond ridiculous.

This simply underscores the stupidity of Scottish football as a  level-playing field and competitive sport.

once upon a time when gates were shared, and bodies/bawbees of every colour were welcomed through turnstiles) - everyone/every team benefited.

Now diddy clubs scrabble for whatever dregs spill off the top table’s bounteous banquet.

No one cares about opposition punters, the idea of away fans not even being present is being trialled by the bigot brothers…

The other day SomeBuddie on here posted - what I thought to be - a highly accurate comment about the league being a quite well-defined entity now as we knew the various club’s incomes and how that dictated where teams would settle in the league.  Accept that new reality.

Enjoy the current Paisley purple patch till the injuries and suspensions kick in.  :(

It doesn't mean he's wrong though. This "christmas" was fecked by the avarice of two clubs in particular. For the life of me I can't see the logic in a team playing every second week without any income from the game. It's ridiculous.

The apparent inability of clubs to make it easy for folk to buy a ticket.  Time constraints, having to register to buy tickets, shop opening hours, no pay at gates etc…

I can perhaps understand if these hurdles were only for matches against the bigot buttocks, where a full house might be an added complication to violence and aggression, but for run of the mill diddy club matches, it seems like overkill and/or self- damaging obstruction.

The away club don't benefit from the ticket sales so ther is no financial incentive for a smaller club to sell tickets.

It's not VAR, it is the idiots who use it who are the problem.  Why did anyone think it would help when it is the same idiots deciding who have been cocking it up for years

If VAR was used as it was meant to, ie, preventing CLEAR AND OBVIOUS mistakes, it would work ok. If it takes these idiots five minutes and thirty odd views to decide the ref got it wrong then it is NOT obvious the ref got it wrong,

  10. Absolutely gutted. Was that offside for what seemed a good goal even in the same phase of play? Why would VAR even mention a double touch for their penalty if it wasn't? Aberdeen will be carrying their point up the A9 in a swag bag. Why is it that VAR checks WTF they like? If they check our goal for offside missed by on field officials surely it would be consistent to check for a mistaken foul for their goal.

All this apart an almost flawless performance by our outfield players. It's such a shame we were denied by a stupid mistake by our goalie and poor decisions by officials.

    All true.

I would like to think Goodwin leaving for Aberdeen will act as a cautionary tale.

Aberdeen fans on my train in.

Looks like it's going to be jumping both home and away. Hope you see some miserable faces in red shirts on the way back home. A very difficult but, with home advantage, very winnable game. What an incentive to tower above the two @rsecheeks in a lofty first position. COYS.

Wasn’t aware of the Braehead tavern closing but doesn’t surprise me. We pop in occasionally, we were in there last Sunday and it was empty .
A couple on our left and the same three guys and a dog who are in there every Sunday. can’t run a pub on that level of support from the locals and precious little passing trade .

The reason The Tavern closed was that the owner upped the rent for it to the extent it wasn't viable. The landlord of the pub have moved to a place in the India tyres complex. I only bring this up now because I saw some folk in the Braehead yesterday tidying things up. I don't know if it was just that or if they've found new tenants to take over.

Grand fusion just opened in Moss street last week, sit in Chinese restaurant. Just above the noodle bar place. Pretty sure it was a Chinese restaurant years ago (1998)

With his long contract we would get a fantastic amount of compensation 👍🏻

There is probably a release clause in the contract so, maybe not so fantastic

Or double his salary, hold on to him and finish in the top three.

    Which would you prefer?

I agree with Jaybee on this. We don't have infinite funds so we won't be able to match Hibs on salary. I only hope Robinson is driven by more than fast cash.

No matter how good he is............ and at the moment he appears very good, it's doubtful we could afford to do that, I believe he is already our highest-paid manager ever.  Unfortunately this is St Mirren, cloth is cut accordingly.
