  1. It wasn't a criminal case and, as I said, Goodwillie needed to prove his innocence as opposed to the crown proving his guilt. It is also the case that the burden of proof required is far less than a criminal case. The judge didn't need the same amount of evidence to decide on the lack of innocence. So I suggest he didn't contradict what I claimed. No matter the language used. ETA. This would have been a case of they said, she said if it went to a criminal trial. I am not saying he was or was not guilty. I'm saying the evidence is weak enough that his life shouldn't be completely destroyed.
  2. Quoted the wrong post. Sorry. Senile moment! Should have been this one.😵 So... How are you getting to Glasgow? ETA. I've wasted it now!
  3. No he wasn't. It was a civil lawsuit. Not the same thing. It didn't have a jury of his peers and the onus was of proving his innocence rather than his guilt. Ergo he was found "not innocent. There was no proof he was guilty.
  4. I might be in the minority but, given Goodwillie was NEVER found guilty in a court of law, I applaud Glasgow United for there stance. I fear they won't be able to continue to continue with it because people just can't forgive even when the authorities couldn't charge the man. David Goodwillie ‘deserves a chance’ insist Glasgow United as they stand firm over disgraced striker - Football Scotland
  5. Totally different circumstances. Oran was new to Scottish football so the club, wrongly IMO, thought he'd need help settling in. Goodwin followed and was a rookie but I think Gus' contract was the main reason he continued in the role after Kearney left.
  6. Apparently Kiltie was on crutches. Hope it's precautionary.
  7. Not long back from the game. A far better performance all round. I know it was against "lesser opposition", though not as low as Montrose, but some of the crisp passing from defence to attack was a joy to watch. We could, perhaps should, have been out of sight before HT even though I thought Arbroath made a good fist of it. All in all it was a good game to watch. I haven't changed my opinion on Mandron. He can use his head but still seems clumsy with the ball at his feet. And Boyd-Munce was guilty of giving the ball away too cheaply at times. Nahmani, on the other hand. I know it's early but his cameo appearance was delightful. He looks to have speed of foot and mind and looks as cool as a cucumber in front of goal. I am really looking forward to seeing him against better teams.
  8. IF we were to get a director of football, and I say if as I can't see it happening, it would be for the wrong reasons. I think it would be a vanity statement saying, "We are a big club". AFAIC, totally unnecessary.
  9. A wee bit side tracked but it started more to do with what Robinson might get out of a previously poor striker.
  10. You misunderstand what I am saying. I don't doubt McMenamin is a really good winger but we DON'T PLAY wingers My point is we signed a player who either doesn't play or doesn't play in the position that got him noticed. It just doesn't make seem logical.
  11. I really do hope so. I will be the first to admit I was wrong if Robinson's signing do click.
  12. He was woeful in that position and, as I said, Robinson, historically, doesn't play wingers so why did he sign him and, since he did, WHERE will McMenamin play. If not LWB, why was he played there v Montrose? Square peg, round hole.
  13. My mistake. I forgot we only drew with Motherwell. It was still that isolated run that convinced Aberdeen to part with cash for his services.
  14. Thick skin? Really? If my grandson played as badly as our new striker and winger did, Nobody would need to criticise him. He's very critical about his own game. As a PROFESSIONAL footballer, you open yourself up to scrutiny so, when I criticise a player, it's because of what I saw when paying to watch them. WTF is wrong with that? As for cookie monster's ridiculous comment. I was simply pointing out the fact that I have not been negative at all. Well not until I saw the team playing since SR has let a good, solid defender and a winger who had potential go. (The latter was surplus simply because we don't play wingers). Then he seemingly upset a really good keeper. He's subsequently replaced them with a striker who looks like he's never seen a football, a winger, when he doesn't play wingers and what looks like an inferior keeper. Even now. He's bringing in another striker when it looks blatantly obvious we're weak in defence. Is that because he knows the one he added won't be up to the task? I hope I'm wrong but I can't see this as strengthening the squad.
  15. In fairness to Faraway, Goodwin's good run that got him the Don's gig was a 7 match winning run but 3 of them were v lower league opposition and, previous to that, we were eye-bleedingly bad to watch with results peppered with draws and defeats. It was no surprise it took Robinson time to sort out the way he wanted the team to play. I don't think I was alone in wondering why Aberdeen were willing to pay a fee for him.
  16. Really? Do you actually read past posts before spouting pish? ETA As for my grandson. He's in the 09 Scotland squad and was drafted into the 08s yesterday so he's doing just fine.
  17. On first impressions, not a big loss at all.
  18. I think I'll wait to see if this is a REAL glorified friendly before parting with anymore cash. I'm going to the Arbroath game more in hope than conviction of a result that keeps us in the hunt. For some reason my grandson wanted to go tomorrow so I bowed to the pressure but I won't spend another penny on this tournament until I see the same sort of enthusiasm from the players.
  19. Hmmmmm. Very humorous.............. in your head I suppose.
  20. Whatever. Urinating in a tornado mate. He doesn't grasp reality too well.
  21. Just back from the Man U v Lyon game in Edinburgh as my grandson was determined he wanted to see them. Over £60 for a ticket. Man U were out of the blocks real quick but seemed to want to walk the ball into the net. Great goal by Van der Beek to win it though. Anyway. Parked, or more like abandoned the car at Ingliston park and ride as there wasn't a parking spot in sight. Had to end up climbing a kerb and hoping for the best. Got the tram. Obviously busy as feck. Queue like an execution to get in. Prices for snacks and drinks were horrendous. Getting back to the car was a challenge to say the least. Turns out the clever cnuts were walking to Haymarket and getting the tram there meaning the thing was crammed when it got to Murrayfield. Then getting out of Ingliston was another chore. Motorway traffic was, by then , in rush hour mode. Murder! All in all, an experience I wouldn't want to repeat.
  22. YEp. One of my workmates is a supporter and he predicted Goodwin would get them between Cellicfootballclub and sevco. I laughed and told him the best he'd get was a record for the number of draws. Of course he kinda rewrote history when he found Goodwin was only his name. 🤣
