I'm an ex smoker of some twenty years but I don't agree with the overtaxing of ciggies or drink in a pretence that it's for health reasons. It's total hypocrisy to, on the one hand, condemn cigs and alcohol as demons then turn around and demand continuously rising income from the same devil. Put tobacco into the same category as amphetamines, barbiturates, codeine, cannabis, cathinones (including mephedrone) and synthetic cannabinoids. In fact there is an argument for making alcohol a Class C drug like benzodiazepines (tranquilisers), GHB/GBL, ketamine, anabolic steroids and benzylpiperazines (BZP). It will never happen but for as long as it's legal to smoke why do you think the state keep taking income from it? Simple answer. They need the revenue and I believe they calculate the financial effect of any rise in duty. Just enough to show they care and anticipating the same revenue stream from a smaller number of addicts.

Really? I feel the Board have backed Gary by allowing him to improve the squad and paying the price by releasing what Teale thought was dead wood.
