I believe some of us did know…

… but it’s always worth bringing up again.

I do - with a poor soul I know, who supports them.  :)

I don't recall reading that but the idea was to encourage others with, perhaps, somewhat lesser known anecdotes.

  2. Given the sub title of this part of the forum is "General nonsense", I thought I'd start this to see if anyone can surprise us.

Did you know that "Dundee" is slang for idiot in Nigeria. "Dundee United" being the plural

It apparently came about when a newly appointed coach of the club, one Jim McLean, took his team to Nigeria and embarrassingly lost 4-1 to a local amateur football team called Stationary Stores FC. When Dundee Utd. left the country there was a headline in one of the newspapers which simply read,

    "DON'T COME BACK"!!

A legacy I'm sure Mr. McLean would rather not have had associated with himself.

Frustratingly, it doesn't appear to have the ticket office's opening hours on the website!

    https://www.stmirren.com/all-news/ticket-info-st-mirren-v-queen-of-the-south-3

I can't see them on the club's Twitter feed, either. I know they usually open on week days from 10 am to 12 pm. However, perhaps best to phone them?

    0141 840 6130 - sometimes it's difficult to get an answer, though! :(

I believe the opening times are 10:00am till 2:00pm

Anyone who has in interest in this shite can get their arse over to Palestine and demonstrate there.

This crap has no place in this country.

On the contrary. Any civilized society should be condemning the atrocious, vindictive, evil, mass murder of innocent people anywhere in the world. And I think you might find it difficult to find Palestine now.

It was when he played for Celtic against Airdrie at Broomfield  It was on TV highlights and even Jock Stein was laughing I think Celtic were already a few in front

As I said. I knew he did it for celtic. I just had it on the back of my mind he did the same with us. I just wanted to know if I'm mixing fact with fiction.

Remember a display at Celtic Park where, I think , we lost 2-0. He gave the best goalkeeping display I have ever seen. Best of all the Saints keepers I saw.

I seem to recall him throwing the ball into his own net. I am probably misremembering but I know he did it with celtic. Am I wrong in thinking he did it with us as well? Great keeper nonetheless. RIP Dennis.

Headlines like this don’t help either…….

Why should an in-law's offences reflect on any other member of the family? This headline really does smacks of "SNP bad" even when only by association that he had no control over. The unionist media are definitely running scared of any potential SNP resurgence.

It will be there down fall. The Alex Salmond SNP actually achieved real change (free prescriptions, free university education, low income family support) the current and previous SNP leadership have been at the helm of the ferry’s fiasco, record NHS waiting lists and the destruction of local services. What are there priorities? Gender recognition bill and banning conversion therapy for LGBT. So basically a bill for the rights of 0.85% of the Scottish population and a bill for a practice that is only really prevalent in the USA. Anyone know of any conversion therapy incidents in Scotland?

I really do agree that the SNP led coalition has been a failure on a monumental scale. That is without doubt. They have been guilty of allowing the tail to wag the dog just so they can ensure the greens allow them to claim a majority for independence. An unnecessary step IMO as the greens would vote for the majority of the policies the SNP on their own would propose while not having to push through the marginal stuff. The ferries are a different kettle of fish. It is almost always the case that, when any of our governments get involved with this sort of thing it spirals. Just look at HS2 fiasco for reference.

That being said. In this election it is NOT a vote simply for the SNP. It's far more important. I really believe we can garnish support by ensuring we don't allow the unionist to claim the narrative of "SNP bad" but instead ensure the message that a vote for SNP is a vote for self rule and, ultimately, a vote to disband the SNP. It's to choose autonomy. A vote for an independent Scotland, free from the more and more right wing  alternative, no matter which of the major parties prevail.

As far as I'm aware, we don't actually know the purpose of the meeting. However, I do not believe a First Minister ought to be chaperoned by a 'UK official'.

I do think, with the UK acting as the World's policeman again yesterday, that it's time for Scottish independence.

Especially when said "chaperone" is an unelected, failed ex PM.

My cousin is a Hoops fan. Some of the support didn’t even know the guy existed and he only turned out against Wolves and Bilbao

If he wears the Black and White I’m happy to see what he has to offer us!

In fairness. Someone saw enough in him to pay a hefty fee. Let's hope it wasn't the tea lady down London Road.

Those afraid of independence are growing by the day. Your going to have to offer more that pejorative language to argue for it while the snp are in power.

On the contrary. You're equating SNP support, which will bounce back as the truth of labour's real message of more tory cuts and no real benefit for the lower paid in society emerges, with the level of support for a free Scotland. The emperor's new clothes will be hung out to dry. Even with the smear campaigns, the level of support for independence remains at roughly the same level as before. Flitting between high 40s and low 50s. I fully expect that to tilt toward the top end soon.

  12. Turned over to watch the Arsenal, Liverpool game and I'm amazed that Arsenal are wearing white tops with white numbers, (Black outline), and no names on the shirt. I thought the numbers were supposed to be very clear. And why no names? Was it mentioned in the pre match commentary?

    Behave yourself.

No amount of whataboutery will change the phrase, "That's more to do with the manager's lack of belief than the ability of the boys in question".

No "maybe" or "if" in there.:whistle

Anyway, you'll be happy to know this will be my last post on the matter. Fact.

If you are incapable of reading more than one part of a post, or decide not to, to allow you to use a part of a whole statement out of context, that's on you. Your lack of intellect knows no limits.

It's fortunate for us all that you're not the manager.

You stated, "That's more to do with the manager's lack of belief than the ability of the boys in question"

    That's not an opinion.

You're stating that Robinson has no belief in his younger players. Asked him did you?

You've clearly got a beef with our youth system. That's fine, but it skews your views on the matter.

Nonsense. It was my opinion.  Read what I said FFS. I started that statement with "Maybe".Or do I have to explain that I DIDN'T ask the manager?

ETA I also followed up with "IF he thinks none of our young players will make the grade "

Now please behave. That statement was my opinion just as your statement is NOT fact but simply your OPINION. .We simply differ in our opinion so please refrain from deciding what I think.

Or maybe he uses the reports he gets back from the individuals that he sends to watch them that to decide they're not developed enough for first team football in the top league.

It looks like he's read the situation with Lewis Jamieson extremely well.

Although I'm sure he'll be grateful for you sharing your wisdom on how to bring young players through.

I disagree. I think he's handled Jamieson very badly. Flitting him on and out for no apparent reason when the lad did ok is, for me, more likely to demoralise and demotivate the player. And I'm NOT sharing my "wisdom". Like most on here, I'm merely giving my opinion which you seem to decry by giving your own words of "wisdom".. Or is that not allowed in your small world?

As it could cost him his job, the manager would and will pick what he considered are the clubs best players.

Maybe it's more to do with a lack of trust that the lads can't replicate what they show in training. That's more to do with the manager's lack of belief than the ability of the boys in question. IF he thinks none of our young players will make the grade then something is very wrong with this supposedly elite academy.  These lads will NEVER get real game time while the manager lives in fear of playing them. Even when they do well they are, in the main, dropped back to the bench or even out of the squad. We are a club that needs to be bringing youth through and selling them on.

  17. So now the rangers want to pick which official is involved in their games. "Rangers request Willie Collum 'not involved in their matches going forward' after SFA VAR audio row".

I suppose they want to shake hands first before deciding whether the referee can be in the middle.

Or maybe a quiet word to find out if they would award a penalty to the opposition when, inevitably, Gouldson decides he's the second keeper?

They seem to have forgotten about those penalties that weren't given.

I guess we should all decide which referees we all want to officiate in all our games too.

They really do think their special and. given the fact they were allowed to take a place in the professional league when they were newly born, I suppose the powers that be gave them a rod to whip them with.

If the SFA had any balls they would hammer the rangers for bringing the game into disrepute.

Dock them 20 points and fine them £500,000 I say.

Hopefully with a coach leaving last summer things will improve. I know a parent of a former youth who said it would be a good thing for us that he is no longer at the club. emoji1696.png

The problem ATM is that, even when we have youngsters doing well in the academy, our first team management team are either not interested in playing them or they don't trust the lads to make the step up. I don't think losing one youth coach is going to waive that mistrust.
