Danny Lennon - 4 Season League & Cup Report Card
stlucifer replied to Wrong Planet's topic in General St. Mirren Discussion
AFAIK, The reasons given for Bahoken's failure was to do with his attitude in training, or not training. The club then found they couldn't dispatch him due to contractual issues. Our very poor defence have a better goals against return than all but one of the bottom six. -
New Contract For Lennon - Got To Be 2 Years
stlucifer replied to Bud the Baker's topic in General St. Mirren Discussion
Given the quality of possible replacements heralded on here I wouldn't swap DL for many. The one's that spring to mind in a positive way would be too expensive. Lambert? Definitely out of our leaue in more ways than one. Clarke? He'd laugh at the wage level. Davis? I doubt he'd want to manage the club he owns. -
Great thinking. We should all buy one for the kids and ourselves then none of us will get lost in that crowd!

Who Do You Want To See Finish 11Th?
stlucifer replied to BAWZ's topic in General St. Mirren Discussion
I believe the potential promotees needed to apply for permission by 31st March this year. I presume all three did so. Edit to add. Just did a search and found this. http://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/football/spfl-promotion-challengers-face-march-deadline-to-prove-they-are-turf-at-the-top.23206421 -
Who Do You Want To See Finish 11Th?
stlucifer replied to BAWZ's topic in General St. Mirren Discussion
I have a bit of a connundrum here. I wouldn't mind seeing any of Hibs, County or Killie condemned to the second tier but I don't want Plastic pitches anywhere near the top league. All Championship, ( what a stupid idea to call it such), contenders play on artificial surfaces so it's close to no change for me. -
St Mirren V Ross County, Sat 3Rd May 2014

Kenny has taken time to find his feet, (or should that be sweet left foot?), since coming back from injury but, for me, it's been worth the wait. A genuine talent who I am sorry we didn't tie down when he was struggling with fitness and form. -
New Contract For Lennon - Got To Be 2 Years
stlucifer replied to Bud the Baker's topic in General St. Mirren Discussion
I am swaying toward the present manager being handed another opportunity and on a 2 year deal for the reasons already highlighted. My opinion has been changed and, now, rechanged. The one thing for sure is the club need to act quickly. What needs done is a review of players and deciding who should be offered future employment. This CANNOT be done properly if the manager's position is unclear. If he's in, get it sorted. If not? Then identify and formalise an offer for the future incumbent This has to be done as near to now as possible. Then and only then can the players be chosen and contracts handed out. We do not want to be chasing our tails as we head for the first training session of 2014-15 as we did in 2013-14. -
I do hope you're kidding. FFS, READ THE POST...... COMPLETELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Danny Lennon and Tommy Craig Appreciation Thread
stlucifer replied to shull's topic in General St. Mirren Discussion
I too had started to doubt afetr a period where I was constantly backing Danny. The signs are there right now that things are improving. I am reconsidering my reconciderations at the moment. -

St Mirren V Ross County, Sat 3Rd May 2014
stlucifer replied to faraway saint's topic in Matchday & Travel Club
What a goal! What a performance from most of the team! What inspired substitutions! (And perfect timing of the subs.) What a shame it's taken till the last 7 games to turn our potential into performances! What IF we had been as consistent throughout the season. Anyone who says this group of players wouldn't play for this management team, look at the fight and dig from them recently! -
WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Jim Goodwin Thread
stlucifer replied to Lanarkshire_Bud's topic in General St. Mirren Discussion
I don't know why you would be upset by that comment. to be honest. Every player in the JG mould does exactly that IMO. And Jim does it well in most circumstances. Their intepretation of his performance however....... -
The Jim Goodwin Thread
stlucifer replied to Lanarkshire_Bud's topic in General St. Mirren Discussion
What I did notice was that the referee seemed more inclined to give fouls FOR Jim last night. I just wonder whether its because our manager openly criticised the treatment Jim gets or whether it's just that last night's ref is untypical of his brethren. I hope it's a turning point and Jim gets to do what Jim does best without unfair discrimination. Just maybe the men in the middle have finally sussed out that Goodie gets treatment from the opposition but just picks himself up dusts himself down and gets on with the game. -

Does that mean you'll already be sitting there Drew? -
The performance yesterday from our team and the support was fantastic from start to finish. I was pleased that the fans voiced their support so vociferously even before a ball was kicked and then continued for most of the game. The astoounding start obviously helped. Their wasn't a failure in our team. From Dilo to Thompson. They all did their part. McLean started the play and by the tenth second his sweet left foot was preparing to lace the ball. I allways new Kenny, (or should that be Paul? ) had talent but his pace throughout the game amazed and surprised me. Dilo started a little pensively but grew in stature. Our central defensive pair looked solid and McGregor in particular was immense. Our very young wide defenders showed composure beyondd their years. Our midfield harried and bullied their counterparts while showing sparks of class. Goodwin showed all that is good in his game until his dismissal which was a farce. In Thommo we have a leader who shows by example. By the fourteenth minute I had sussed out the game plan. Number eleven. Number ten. Thommo was supposed to score the next. After that we would have had to bring back Harkins.Afetr that I would have been praying we didn't score anothertwo or we would be detransferring Mair! This management game is easier than I thought! Seriously though. Well done to all concerned. Tactics and substitutions were spot on!

IF there is to be blue and white at Cellic park final it will have to be Saintees!

Just watched the goals on Sky. It didn't help with the Motherwell first but I think we got away with one for the winner. Looked offside on telly. It was no more than we dserd though.

Sorted that for you. Also. I have decided the wee joke about yellow cards being printed with the preordained "Goodie name" is, in fact, a reality!

Our Club Banning Motherwells Drum
stlucifer replied to Craigyboy smfc's topic in General St. Mirren Discussion
Great decision from the club. I hope the stick to their guns. I don't see why the thread was started as there's no need to bang on about it! Does anyone think there'll be re percussions if we play them at their patch next season?
