  1. You've obviously seen my experience with the absolute nuggets on the Pie and Bovril forum. [emoji3]
    If you haven't, here's a wee flavour.
I once posted that it was great that the government were making it easier for disabled people to work if they wanted to. Since then I have been accused of hating dsabled people and wanting them worked to death.
I then posted that I couldn't understand how anyone on benefits could find themselves in foodbanks and asked what they could be prioritising over food. Since then I have been accused of hating the poor, loving the rich and wanting the poor to die.
There are endless other examples but that'll do for now.
It's rare to be confronted with those levels of stupidity. I mean, you hear about it, but you rarely see it in action. Many of them are teachers by profession too. Sheesh. [emoji3]

I haven’t been on the P&B for a while now, but I get what you’re saying. A couple of years ago on here I was debating with a chap..... a police officer no less that called me every name under the sun because he thought I was a racist (made me chuckle considering my wife is Hindu and Father in Law is Muslim) The modern day teaching profession, law enforcement for example used to be respected individuals, but when it comes to actual life skills and experience, they’re a far cry from what they used to be....... IMO.
  2. I agree absolutely.
Until live gigs start back up again, how else are people going to get a good laugh.
I mean, talking burning bushes, "virgin" pregnancies (try that excuse nowadays), water into wine and walking on water conjuring tricks and entire seas parting for miles on end, you just can't beat organised religion for a solid belly laugh.

Blasphemy I say.......blasphemy. Next thing you’ll be telling us is that Santa isn’t real.

  3. Seems a bit strange that the powers that be would shut this facility down with armageddon approaching? [emoji848]

Neil Ferguson apparently suggesting we stay in lockdown until April. Good old Neil, he’s always been bang on the money. 🤭

  4. The woman is 66 years old. What exactly were you expecting?
Time isn't kind to anyone. There are no exceptions that I have seen.

I was joking chap. Catherine Bach in her prime would’ve been a sock filler for many a young lad. I just couldn’t imagine Yflab filling a sock as she is now. Maybe he is................. Yflab, could you please put us out our misery?
  5. So why in Asia where they have been hugely successful in controlling COVID do all the folks still wear masks and have been from the beginning.
Strikes me that you are making comments about a subject that you just don't have a clue about

The Asian countries that I’ve been to including South Korea, Singapore, Japan, far eastern Russia and Kazakhstan. Wearing masks is a normal practice, pandemic or not chap. A practice I may add couldn’t get my head around at first, but after a few weeks I didn’t bat an eyelid at.
  6. How many times does this view have to be shown to be wrong before you change it?
    - Hardly any cases late Feb/ early March
    - hardly any cases September/ October
    - hardly any cases mid December.

Covid19 spreads with people in close contact & can take hold very quickly without strong restrictions. Why do you still need told that in December 2020? [emoji29]

For all that...... only 4280 deaths. (As of today from https://www.travellingtabby.com/scotland-coronavirus-tracker/)

No doubt there’ll be someone that’ll come along to say those figures are wrong.
  7. Now let's get those 2 forfeit results overturned. I'm sure our appeal will be supported by Roy McGregor.

Not sure if this is true, but it’s believed that the Saints bubble could have been burst due to the fact the stadium was being used to administer the flu jabs. If true then I’d say it may help the appeal, however. I believe the powers that be will want to save face on this and the appeal will be rejected regardless.
  8. You claim to be sceptical but all I can see is another gammonista with his head in the sand.

“Gammonista”, “Gammonites” seem to be two of your favourite descriptions for those that disagree with you [emoji848]

I did the wee googly thing to find this.

“Gammon. In 2018, it became particularly known as a term to describe either those on the political right or those who supported Brexit”

So does that make me a right wing, brexiteer? What the hell, why not add racist in there for good measure [emoji6]

I thought this was a COVID thread 🤷🏼‍♂️

  9. Little Christmas puzzle y'all out there - how many mistakes can you spot in this report?

Covid-19 cases have risen in the last week in England, Scotland and Wales, with an estimated 660,000 infections across the UK between 6-12 December.

In England, the rise was driven by sharp increases in London, as well as rises in the South East and East Midlands.

But the proportion of people testing positive in the North West and Yorkshire has continued to fall.

Roughly one in every 95 people had the virus across Britain.

Last week's figures suggested about 560,000 people had the virus across the UK - one in 115 people in England, one in 120 in Scotland, one in 175 in Wales and one in 235 in Northern Ireland.

Covid cases are broadly stable in Northern Ireland with about one in every 215 people testing positive, according to Office for National Statistics (ONS) estimates.

I can see 2 contradictions and 1 outright error so bad I would expect even an army recruit with a reading age of 5 to be able to spot in between administering lateral flow tests for the virus....
....and to think we can have even more fun when we go into Lockdown3.
PS [mention=7598]Russian Saint[/mention] the correct figure for Covid deaths in Scotland is now over 6,000.

The number of coronavirus deaths in Scotland has passed the 6,000 mark, according to latest figures.

National Records of Scotland (NRS) statistics show there were 224 deaths where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate between December 7 and 13, a decrease of eight from the previous week.

As of Sunday, a total of 6,092 such deaths had been registered in Scotland.

Not according to the Scottish Government.

    https://www.gov.scot/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-daily-data-for-scotland/

“Since the start of the outbreak:

4,239 people have died who have tested positive
6,092 deaths have been registered in Scotland where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate up to 13 December”
