  1. I have never thought going back to a manager who has already been at the club is a good idea ? Maybe it's because I tend to think that second time around, things just don't work out as well. I could be wrong about that but that's just my gut feeling on it. So, for me, Gus is never an option, he's been at the club, did well for me, but that was then and this is now ! As for Gary Teale....................I want him to do so well for us, but I just don'y see how he is going to do it ? Lets face facts, the results so far have been poor, we still haven't got our home form sorted out and without solid home form I think we are for the chop ! We are a soft touch at home, other teams arrive at our ground and they know a number of things before they even walk onto the pitch - 1. They are going to score at least once 2. We have not won a home game all season 3. Our confidence is low 4. We are struggling to score All of these factors must be a boost to visiting sides and for our side, they are a burden and a confidence sapper. Gary Teale has got to find a way to sort that out, the trouble for him is that he is inexperienced as a Manager and that won't help him. I thought we could benefit from an experienced Manager, just to steady us, get a few results, draws even, just points on the board and sort us out at home first of all. All in all, it's proving to be so difficult, we've lost our way, months ago........and now, we are struggling every week. Painful really. When I look at sides like Inverness, they prove that smaller clubs with smaller supports can get things right, can compete at the top level and can get consistent winning performances out of their players, with the right direction, coaching, tactics and desire..........we are failing on all these fronts at the minute !
  2. I agree. This is now critical. We are at the 4th January now and we need this sorted. Dithering over a manager is going to be a big problem for us. To be honest i'm not convinced that Teale should get the job, we need someone who has experience I think and that can sort us out very quickly. This idea of not keeping a clean sheet, not winning games, not even drawing games is killing us. To be honest i'm a bit sick and tired of the aftermatch interviews and the excuses. The truth is we are not good enough in every area of the pitch. I accept we have had some bad luck, the referee in the Kilmarnock game was poor but when I thought about what we actually did in the game, it didn't amount to much, we lost the game against Kilmarnock because Samson didn't get tested at all. It's all getting a bit predictable now. We are looking like a team tumbling towards relegation and if we were all honest about it and asked the question ' Do we deserve anything else ' ? I think most of the supporters would have to answer that question with a NO !! When we get relegated our record will show that we were the worst team in the league in every area, wins for, number of draws and goals against, these statistics will tell the story !
  3. I just can't see us getting anything from ICT.................................a cup run is always good, but TC can't seriously think he can take us anywhere in the Cup, All this game is going to do is heap even more pressure on TC !
  4. I watched with interest yesterday, particularly as a result of Tommy's Team selection. To be honest I thought it was a brave call to do what he did, but it left me with an uneasy feeling before kick off and that didn't change throughout the game itself. I think there is a real desperation about that team selection yesterday ! It's okay to change things, or bring in a player to freshen things up etc, I get all that ! But when it comes to starting young players on their debuts for the club, I think it has to be thought through a wee bit more ? I don't think starting young players at an away venue is a great idea ? I would have preferred Tommy to have started the debutants at home, in front of their own fans at a ground familiar to them, just to give them that wee confidence booster and get them off to a good start. I feared that we might get a bit of a doing yesterday and that's what happened, I'm not sure what that does for the debutants confidence. Bringing them into a team low in confidence, away from home and against a high flying side ? Brave call Tommy ! Was it the right one ? I'm sure when he thinks it over he'll concede he got it wrong !
  5. Are we playing some decent stuff ? I just do not see it. We look toothless ! Devoid of ideas and not able to react when things get tough or goals are lost ! I totally agree with you. We are defending badly and not scoring goals. What else could be any worse ? The two things that ensure that games are lost , we seem to be providing an master class in ! Defending like amateurs and hitting the stand when we should be hitting the net. Tommy Craig's work in the transfer market has been woeful and the players he has brought are dreadful. I don't see any of them setting the league on fire ! That just about sums him up. He is yesterday's man devoid of modern ideas and it is all coming home to roost now . we are egetting exactly what we deserve on the back of an appointment like that. Poor football, regular defeats and the same old rubbish coming from he manager after games about playing well and not getting the breaks ! Yawn !
  6. 5 straight defeats in the league is awful. I want to enjoy watching St Mirren so badly but I have not been able to do that for a while now . This stuff we are being subjected to right now is total misery. There is just no other way to put it. Teams like Dundee and Hamilton and Patrick are ambitious and looking to improve. Young ambitious managers etc. We are lacking foresight and ambition too. I am not looking for us to breaknbanks and overspend etc but we must show more ambition in the market place. Instead of buying and wasting money on a fancy scoreboard do something positive for the team . Tommy Craig was an awful choice for manager. We lose again against an ordinary Killie ! No surprises there. Not many would expect us to win now. We need to consider where we are going. Nowhere under the present regime. I hate to heap pressure on St Mirren managers but Tommy is taking care of that all by himself !
  7. All the best Danny ! Thanks for a wonderful League Cup run and win in 2013, never to be forgotten. All the best for the future !
  8. I take your point but I was really meaning any money that he has cost us in terms of wages, bonus payments etc. He's just been terrific for us. I just enjoy watching him score goals, it means something to him too, you can see that in how he celebrates. A real St Mirren man ! fantastic. I'm a bit disappointed with Stuart McCall's comments about the second half ref. He said that the penalty decision more or less cost them the game ? Well it didn't Stuart !!! You had 90 odd minutes to go and win the game, you had numerous openings to score more goals and you had the same time remaining in the game that St Mirren had to go and get the third and your team didn't do it. That's not the Referees fault ! That's your teams fault ! We had the same experience at Tannadice a couple of weeks ago, a bad decision from the Officials, but the game was still there to be played out and it's up to the team to go and make something happen.
  9. Great stuff from Saints today. I think pound for pound Thomo is one of the best players St Mirren have signed.........ever ! His goals today were so important and I think it was appropriate he scored them. I think Partick and Kilmarnock will have been looking at that game today, probably thinking that Motherwell would win it. It will be a blow to them to see us come through and take the points. I just hope Saints can put together a wee run between now and the end of the season. Nice one Thomo
  10. Dundee Utd 3 St Mirren 2 ? Is it just me or does anyone else feel that even at two nil up, with 10 minutes to go, only St Mirren could contrive to somehow loose that game ? I've been watching St Mirren for 40 years and I know the feeling only too well. As soon as Utd scored that familiar sinking feeling set in and true to form they delivered right on cue. That's a devastating result for us today, for morale, for league position, for confidence and for the club as a whole ? Danny Lennon has a massive task on his hands because Partick and Ross County seem to be better fighters than we are ? Gutted !
  11. I liked Lee Mair, good passer of the football and I think he battled away well to get back into the squad despite DL making it obvious he was wanting to move him on. His goal against the Accies in the cup run was so important for us and I'm glad he came on at Hampden to shore us up at the back and see us through to a famous win. He's going to be a good signing for Partick and I wish him all the best !
  12. Jimmy Bone was a wonderful player for St Mirren. That goal that he scored against Aberdeen was one of the best individual goals that I've ever seen a St Mirren player score, fantastic stuff. He scored that goal against one of the best defences in the country as well, Leighton, McLeish, Miller etc etc. I have real good memories of that St Mirren side, they played some great stuff and Jimmy Bone was at the heart of that. Thanks for the memories JB !
  13. I'm looking forward to seeing Gary H in a Saints strip. I have to say that I was impressed by his performances at Dundee and I think he's going to be a good addition to the squad. I do see Gary and Gowser making a good creative combination in the middle of the park. We need that craft in the midfield to try to open up defences and I hope to see that from Gary. Welcome to Paisley Gary and all the best !!
  14. I couldn't agree with you more. Big Thompson did a brilliant article in the papers last week in the build up to todays game and it really came through that he's a supporter of the club as well as a player. I was delighted to see him get a goal today and such a good goal at that. The still photo's of him reeling away to celebrate show what it means to him, just take a look at his face, it's an awesome image of him ! He did such a good job today and it would be great to see him winning something and writing his name into a legends team ! Go on Thommo enjoy it !
