  1. Same old failings in the first half. Midfield way too lightweight and easily overrun by the opposition. Defensively too hesitant at times. Sorry, but yet to be convinced by Baird. A young Cheesy as far as I can see. His attempt at a clearing header for Rovers 2nd goal was beyond a joke. No surprise when AR hooked him at HT. As for Gow...what's the point. For what it's worth, I think Agnew merited his MoTM award. Best I've seen him play in a long time. Also thought Thommo made an impact when he came on. He won every ball in the air that came his way. His knockdown for Shankland's sitter was excellent. As for Shanks, won us the three points on Saturday and should've nicked a point for us tonight. Raith? Definitely best of the rest and had enough to see the game out. They will lose to the Bairns and or Falkirk over the two legs of the play-off. Now if we slip up at Alloa on Saturday.....
  2. Haven't played that well but just about shaded a really poor first half. Usual piss poor defending accounted for Livi's equaliser. We still look disjointed and overly reliant on individual skill such as that produced by Shankland for our 2nd goal. Would be majorly surprised if we keep Livi at bay in the 2nd half. Mind you, they are a poor side.
  3. Alex won't be dragged into any play-off nonsense. Stabilising the team and ensuring that we stay in the Championship will remain his objective. That and beginning to build for next season.
  4. The management team should be applauded for the pragmatic approach they've taken. Just as Gus and Andy did almost a decade ago, they are making us difficult to beat and now we're starting to nick results and build confidence.
  5. Pat on the back to all concerned. Must admit that I didn't follow up my initial interest bug this'd fans who stuck with it must be pretty pleased. Looks like it will be a real asset to the club.
  6. More worryingly, all the other results aren't doing us any favours so far.
  7. A very brave man by the sound of things.
  8. The guy had a miserable 6 months at the club. In that time he has gone from a young up and coming manager to a dud. ( Such is the nonsense that is Scottish Football). He'll know the mistakes he has made but obviously won't broadcast them as searches for a new job. I hope he learns from his mistakes and goes on to become a top manager. It's embarrassing that St Mirren seems to have become the graveyard for the careers of so many young managers.
  9. Well done to AR and DF. Again, far from pretty and under the cosh for long spells by the sound of it but the team hung on. Another wee step in the right direction. Next week will be a test but they can go to Dumfries with confidence. Good stuff.
  10. Difficult game this. I'd happily take a point and keep the team progressing. However, should the Doonhamers decide to turn up play shite....
  11. A Chelsea man through and through but you've just got to love what Leicester are doing. This kind of thing is why people persist with watching football. Just great.
  12. Rae's not daft. His task is simple. Keep us in the Championship this season. He won't do that by wasting trying to turn journeymen players into a version of Barcelona. He knows that if we tighten up defensively and stop giving away stupid goals then the objective will be met. Easiest way of doing that is to get our defenders to clear their lines first and foremost.
  13. Played well. Finally an experienced old heid pulling his weight and helping the youngsters around him.
  14. If Alex and Davie turn the club around and push us up to mid-table with such a poor squad, I doubt they'll be here long enough to worry about rebuilding.
  15. Three points, three goals, three different scorers....three positives of the day. The rest was absolutely dreadful. Still way, way short of looking like a decent team. Still, it's a pleasant feeling not to be bemoaning another defeat. Slowly but surely Alex is moving us forward.
  16. Received a text saying we've signed on loan from Motherwell until the end of the season. True?
  17. By all accounts, well certainly according to certain media chats hosted by AR, the manager believes he was sold a right crock when it came to the squad. Rather than a good squad of players looking for direction, he believes he has inherited a squad of part-timers, wasters and cowards. The experienced pros, Goodwin excepted, have been told to get the finger out. One has been told to leave his ego at home and start using his experience or ship out. In truth, with the exception of Mallan and a couple of other youngsters, AR doesn't rate the younger players. No genuine work ethic. Despite SG's belief that 4th place was not beyond us if AR could get the team going, the manager believed mid-table was best we would achieve. Having no assessed the squad he's not overly confident that we're good enough to avoid the relegation play-off position. He now realises that radical surgery is needed and time/money is against him. Very worrying.
  18. Another rotten defensive display that will confirm Alex Rae's belief that we have team full of wasters.
  19. Didn't expect us to take anything from that game. So, well done lads. A smashing wee pick me up for the rest of the season. Pleased for Alex Rae.
  20. Might as well plan for the relegation play-off game right now. It's the best we'll get this season.
  21. Well, it confirms that Alloa must have been really poor.
  22. Just a thought. Another up and coming manager has his career stalled following a spell at St Mirren. There is something wrong at the heart of our club.
