The second half was appalling. Comfortably ahead at half time. Kilmarnock made a couple of tweaks to how they set up and we seemed to lose the plot. Lost a couple of soft goals and instead of sending on Kwon or Baccus to shore up the midfield he brought on Jamieson.  Gogic has been our best player this season but he was awful in the second half. Why Dunne is at the club, after wishing to leave because he thought he was better than us is a mystery to me . Taylor would be a better option.  Cannot ever remember us losing so badly from being 2-0 ahead. worry now is where our next points come from. Last season we picked up 2 points from our last 7 matches. We are looking at something similar this season. Not surprised to see the extra 1000 fans shuffle off at 3-2. See you all again at a final or a League decider.

Honestly posts like this make me embarrassed to be a St Mirren fan while I agree with the start of your post about Dunne/Taylor and Gogic/Jamieson the rest is absolutely drivel.

The extra 1000 fans were normal fans who probably don't go to away games regularly but made the effort for this one as encouraged by the club and others fans also apart from Motherwell our easiest away fixture to attend.

This crap I don't where our next points are coming from always comes up after a bad defeat same happened in December before we beat Hibs and Aberdeen away also after we lost to Livingston.

Last season was typical bad luck that first time we ever get top 6 we get the big 5 teams in with us no other diddly teams to play this time it's different as Kilmarnock are in there and one of Dundee, Hibs and Motherwell and this Hibs team isn't as good as last season's plus probably be playing them at home where we can beat anybody.

  2. Would have been good having someone with a recent good scoring record , don’t think we will be near top 6 this season but also don’t think we will be in the relegation battle.
Don't think we will be top 6??? Haven't been out top 6 all season your relying on at least two teams below us finding form to overtake us which they haven't done when we've been poor for at least 3 months.

  3. Olasanya & Mandron could play for 20 seasons and not score 20 goals between them, I’m afraid unless we sign someone special before 11:30pm tonight we are in trouble up front as we have zero goal threat in our strikers, Van Veen would have been perfect.
After first few weeks of season our strikers all looked capable of the 10 goal mark not now sadly.

  4. As you can guess from my pre match ramblings, I didn't see this result coming but, luckily, I did travel to witness it first hand. (Thank you grandson). That first half was as good as we've played in ages. Although I can't think of any real failures I do believe Baccus, Hemming, Gogic and Taylor deserve recognition. Baccus has been slowly returning to the form that got him a call up to his national team. Gogic was more like himself. Both Taylor and Hemming were immense. Hemming was ready and able when the defence lapsed a little. On the way out of Aberdeen we passed a shop called "The Happy House". I doubt there were many Dons' fans in there.
Lucky you, having been at Pittodrie over 20 times I've still to see Saints win there[emoji24][emoji24][emoji24]

  5. Lose at the weekend and my prediction is, we’re rooted to the bottom six by January

That argument relies on the current bottom six winning enough points to overtake us which is unlikely.

The last 4 full season third place team has won either 17,18 or 19 matches.

The relegated team has won 5,6,7 & 8 in that period.

The play off team has won 8,9 & 10 in that period.

The teams from 4th to 10th always win roughly 10-14 matches.

We have already won 6 matches in 16 everyone below us has won 2-5 considering they are only likely to win another 5 each until end of season pretty sure we'll still be easily be top 6 come winter break as one of them would really need 3/4 victories in 6 matches remaining in December for us to be rooted to bottom 6 that isn't going to happen.

  6. It was a "go through the motions" performance for us against a not very good Rangers , we got what we deserved . A repeat v the Fakes during the week and all the good early work will be as good as gone. Too many big players not turning up , team needs a complete refresh ! I'd be starting Bolton , Small , Nahmani and Jamieson this week !
"All the good work will be as good as gone"we are 5 points clear of team in 7th place who upon checking are away at Aberdeen & Livingston and home to Celtic next 3 games so very good chance we will still be well in top 6 at end of this busy month.

I say this every year but no matter what teams are involved the amount of wins, draws and defeats stays very very similar each season the fact we are 2/3 victories more than most teams already suggests that if we keep ticking along the odd win here and there the 9 teams below us won't win enough matches to overtake us pre split.

  7. For a team going into December in third place alot of negativity on here.

Heard Mark Wilson have a go at the Celtic fans moaning on Radio yesterday his words were look at every Championship win from any team and you have bad days dotted throughout the season including wee spells of two, three or four matches in a row where you just struggle for one reason or another but you just overcome it.

We are struggling a little performance wise but not effort wise, we are punching above our wait and the sharks are circling below us.

We have a tough run of games in December but still have 3 at home keep our good home record up and we'll be fine for top 6 and even higher this time.

  8. The next couple of games could be really beneficial for us (league table wise) if we do our job as the Edniburgh duo meet the Glasgow duo in consecutive weeks.
Fingers crossed we get back to a more fluid style of play and pressing more in attack. The last few games have been a bit off compared to the previous efforts.
The last 3 games were always going to be really difficult for (obvious) & different reasons.

Playing a cup tie away against a bigger team with a new manager and a team plus fans out for a bit of revenge from our previous result, then away on that pitch enough said, and finally at home v one if the ugly sisters always a risk after them losing two in a row they weren't going to lose 3 no telling how the game would have played out without the red card.

The break has came at a good time for us to recharge and refocus.

  9. That Rangers team might’ve gone above us in GD today, but I’ve got a damn sight more confidence that we’ll go on a winning run than they will. They are f**kin honkin and got a massively needed helping hand today.
Spot on they are a team full of £million bought players and internationals if Goldson,Butland & Tav had Scottish grannies they would be full internationals too.

They look no better than the rest of the league.

  10. What's the odds for this game?
    Can't access Bet365 from out here. [emoji849]
Last time I checked at weekend we were generally around 11/2 to 13/2 don't know if that's changed due to them getting rid of that dud it should bring them in and us out a bit.

I can't bet my 5-1 St Mirren I'm doing 99% of matches this season as they doesn't expect St Mirren to score more than 4 goals.

  11. 2 -0 Saints..... get one early to shut up their one stand of bigotry..   win this we are 6 clear of them...... which is astonishing and very amusing
Be very surprised if they start with Beale in the dugout they had two lucky results to paper over the cracks the next team to play them was always likely to beat them out problem now is we are sort of expected to win.

  12. Another tough away fixture coming up again at a ground historically we rarely win time to put that to bed.

There is nothing to call between the 11 teams after Celtic(even they look fragile) we are the best of the rest at present and deservedly so but that brings its own problems as we are a scalp to teams while we sit up here.

My Kilmarnock supporting mate is frustrated at them repeating the issues that got them relegated two years ago play some good/great football to then lose late goals 3 x 90+ goals conceded their last 5 matches(it happened 10 times to them two years back).

A tight 3-2 win to us coming from behind to win after being 1 up.

Strain, Olusanya and Kiltie although can see us getting a penalty this weekend so maybe O'Hara on the scoresheet.

  13. Two changes though. Baccus and McMenamin drop to bench.
No doubt we will see them at some stage.

Hopefully we get off to a flyer as you say. I’d settle for 3-0 Saints before HT.

Think the two changes were needed if any two weren't at their best on Saturday it was the two dropped tonight.
The mind games from the new Hibs manager pre match have been a hoot.

I like their new manager think he will do well he's not telling any lies I agreed with what he had to say about Saints that fans, budget etc count for nothing at this moment in time we could argue to be the bigger club the guy has been about British football long enough to know that mind games don't work with someone like Robinson or St Mirren.
