  1. So if there is only a few community based clubs then that is the limit of our aspiration? We should be primarily be trying to as good a football club as possible. do you think anybody thinks, it is Ok to loose in the league as long as we are better than another community based club. all the other factors are genuinely “nice to haves” but we should want to be winners.
  2. As an owner of a small quantity of St Mirren shares, I received an email today regards pulling their shareholding to create a new voice. does anyone know more about this email. It says they talked to people at the AGM. As an overseas shareholder I obviously don’t make it. 3 shareholdings SMISA, Kibble and the silent 21% especially with all the in fighting we read on hear about Kibble / anti Kibble bickering it would be interesting to hear more about this idea.
  3. I think by profession AW is a financial advisor. It is good that he helps club invest surplus cash. even the most biased kibble supporter cannot blame him for Covid, war in Ukraine etc, but they will! The more cynical will then ask if they invested through his role or company. That then becomes close to conflict of interest issue. it is tough being a supporter and director. We appoint people for their experience and knowledge to help the Club, then spend remainder of time looking for ways to criticize them. does the Cubs statement out an end to this matter?. In real life, should do, but on this Forum, no chance. The conspiracy theorists will have a field day!
  4. Couple of points AW application to become a Board Member of SMISA. It is up to the individual members to determine which of the candidates gets elected. We could ask ourselves if AW genuinely wants be elected to work to benefit SMISA or is he using this an an avenue to exlore a single agenda. An agenda he has probably not been getting any resonse on now, he is not a member of the ST Mirren Club. The AW Point This matter of the grant application is very much a matter for the Club Board. All Directors should be accountable to the Board for their actions. If the other directors consider that some club directors have acted in appropriately, they should do something about . SMISA appointed a majority of the Club directors and those apointed should be following this up. Despite all that many of us talk about Kibble, they are a significant Charitable organisation and if they consider that two people have acted wrongly and mis-reresented the Club, they should do the honourable thing and have them step down, and appoint 2 new directors. Were they acting on behalf of Kibble or the Club, if shown that they were acting on behalf of Kibble, in a way that was in conflict to their duties as a directer of the Club, they should go. KIbble would not dare to veto any action to remove a director if he, they were proved to have taken action to harm the Club. Directors have a duty of care Would the party who was hosting the Grant application not be very interested in any impropriety in an application. Kibble are a huge Charity, have full time staff working on grants, they need to have a spotless reutation regards grant alications, they have far more to lose than simply this project. This series of ongoing discussions must be equqlly frustrating to their management. This matter has been dragging on for a while. Perhaps we normal suporters may never get to know the full story. We only own the shares, the actions of the Club are run as a business and any such compromising discussions may be considered a closed matter. All of the above presupposes that AW has a valid point, if there is no smoking gun, the very least the Club could do is report that the matter has been investigated internally and closed. Perhas at some point, we may get back to talking about football, we have a game this weekend!! COYS
  5. Think when we all wake up on Sunday morning and the euphoria of making the top six dies down, we will all realise the full impact of yesterdays result. Assuming nobody takes anything from the ugly sisters, we have only 9 points to play for and we are well behind 4th, a win was needed yesterday. That should have been the focus, winning gave us top six automatically but more importantly kept our challenge alive. Sadly I think we are now playing for 5th or 6th. yesterdays game was not simply about top 6, Dundee United secured that for us, it was about keeping in touch with Hearts and Aberdeen and we failed the test. hopefully the extra cash for improved league position and better gates in the run in will help the finances. But all this talk of Europe after yesterdays result is surely gone.
  6. Almost everybody that gave a statement about joining the SMISA Board included "communications". why do we read this bured in the Forum. what is SMISA main means of communications? E-mail? twitter ? . Having announced Eddie's appointment with such a floursih a few months ago, woudl it not been better to contavt all SMISA members regards such a sugnificant event. No wonder there is so much moaning on here about SMISA, Board, Kibble when SMISA just shhots themselves in the foot at each event.

    Mr Gilmour

SG at least put himself up for election by the wider membership. Interesting to read in the SMISA news letter that the other people who were not successful were now cooped on to the SMISA board what is the point of having elections, then SMISA just do as they please? I am sure if SG had got on to the SMISA board in a similar way, this page would have been full of the usual suspects calling “foul”.
  8. St Mirren's Baccus v Messi in World Cup last 16. Who saw that coming 5 months ago? Boy's doing us proud.
  9. Being the Bangkok Buddie, things like St Andrews day take on more significance. We had the St Andrews Ball 2 weeks ago with Bahookie Ceilidh Band from Scotland. Tonight it will be full blown Scottish dinner, including haggis, neeps and tatties etc. Bunting is already up on the balcony as are the blue and white lights. Have a great time whatever you are and whatever way you celebrate it. Looking forward to see you all at the Aberdeen game, when i get home at Christmas. COYS
  10. I am sure somebody will correct me, but i always have this memory of a season where St Mirren scored for fun. Somner did all the hard work and Mcdougal claimed all the goals. The guy had the uncanny knack of being in the right place, right time. Goals went in off his back, bum, shoulder, shin but they all counted. What wouldnt we give for a good old penalty box "jammie'" striker these days?

    Mr Gilmour

Yet again a moan abour SGG turns in to a Kibble debate. Like him or loathe him, at least SGG and the consortium all were resonably successful business men who had experience in running a buiness. The club played the Hampden game, financial management game in very difficult times for the Club and Scottish football. Maybe he has an agenda, but doesnt everybody. Selling and getting their money back annoyed many fans, but it is easy to moan when it is not your money. They forget it was the consortium who put their money where their mouthes were when the Club was in danger. Just look at the poor uptake to the previous share issues when the Club needed money, fans cannot actually financially support a club in difficult times. To most of us small shareholders, it was a matter of the heart, not the greatest financial deal we had ever done. That is probably why we still chip in our money each month. How many Celtic fans hate Fergus Mccann walking away with a tidy profit yet are happy that he saved the club, brought professional business practices and was probably the one who set the financial model for those that followed. We all love the club, love the concept of fan ownership but I would be very concerned about most of the fans on a Saturday actually being involved in running it day to day. This message was partly due to reading the statement of the SMISAClub Board nominee. I found after reading it, that it was full of lovely ideas and concepts but I had no idea if the guy actually had the skill set to run the business. Hopefully that may come out on here in the coming days.
  12. I am always confused to read on here about "fan owned". What does "fan owned" actually mean? Even the SG, GLS Consortium was "fan owned" albeit a small number of them and there was always the risk of sale to an outsider.. To listen to some people, they think without Kibble, SMISA would own 100% of the club. The original ownership model of buying all of GLS shares would not have given 100% ownership. There are still about 20% of shares out there in the hands of small shareholders, most of whom are fans but free to sell to whoever they please.. "Fan Ownership" to me, means the majority of the shareholding is in the "fan group's" hands so that the club is saved for the future. No threat of a Brealey etc coming and buying us. But the important thing is that even if Kibble went looking for all of these small shares, or deced to sell to a "predator", nobody can ever get a majority. That brings us on to the upcoming elections, "fan owned" v "fan managed", they are very different things, but that is for another day
  13. Who would be a manger? After the cup failure, SR given hell on here about his poor summer signings, now a few weeks later, he is a GOD with everybody saying what wonderful signing he made. On paper, JR looks to have strengthened his team over the summer. They surprised everybody last season, I wouldn't right them off just yet. A lot depends on if he gets the time. SR did, but that may be becasue we can't afford to sack him. Going to be an interesting season outside of the OF.
  14. None of the above. Pattern on the black looks a bit like 60"s fashion. The more understated pattern on the white looks better but with black shorts and socks.
  15. The Board can invite other people, like the senior commercial person. manager etc to their meeting, but only Board members can vote on issues.
  16. A lot depends on the reason for the money being spent. In the past the biggest shortfall was often cash flow in winter months after a few postponements. In that case individual directors (major shareholders) often gave the club short term loans that were then paid back. I think that could be way ahead for one aspect of the SMISA investment. Like others, I cannot see how Kibble could make such loans.
  17. Does Scotland have a free kick taker? Somebody that when we get something close to the edge of the box gets us all on the edges of our seat. Leigh Griffiths is last one I remember. Who from the current crop of players does that? For us Buddies, the likes of Mallen, Carey used to get us all excited.
  18. Slightly off topic but about the Euros squad, hopefully one of you can help. Given that vaccinations are now getting to younger people, they are more readily available, why was the Scotland squad, families, back roof staff and even fringe players not vaccinated a month ago. Appreciate not 100% full proof but would certainly have reduced the risk. Even with life in a bubble, this might have helped. Hopefuly Jason Leitch quietly organised it for the boys. Don’t want a big antivax debate, just trying to be practical and look after the lads. 1 case and 5-6 not travelling to Holland game, concerns me
  19. This time it’s the blue side of the ugly sisters. Equally it could be the green side. I am hearing Celtic friends condemn this but they never understand it takes two to tango. Don’t see them commenting when it’s the Green Brigade etc. Last month everybody was up in arms about the racist comments made against a rangers player. Isn’t a bit sanctimonious of the west of Scotland society that condemn that but find the bile from rangers and Celtic pefectly acceptable. Not excusing them, but the sad part is that those same players who were abused, were probably singing but don’t actually know what they were singing about in the video. Given fact most of the team are from overseas they are just repeating the rubbish they hear each week on the terraces We all know that at every game we will be subjected to the hatred that is the Old Firm bigotry yet nobody seems to hear the songs at the SFA, SPFL and Holyrood. Money makes this bile acceptable. Maybe when we get the “say no to racism” campaign, we need to look a bit closer to home at bigotry. sadly we all know that not going to happen as it’s the ugly sisters pulling the strings
  20. Bit of a weak challenge. First time I saw it it almost looked like he was trying to kick the ball but was too slow. If you want a real goalkeeper challenge, don't forget about the Artur Borec tackle (assault) on Dargo? Nearly killed him! https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/other-sports/st-mirren-stars-jail-blast-999150
  21. Oh no, what are the club doing in putting out a straight forward statement? Such spoil sports Don't they realise they are just spoiling the fun of all our conspiracy theorists on here who are desperate to talk about fallouts between Kibble, SMISA and the club, Kibble finding grave financial errors in the books, possible financial irregularities that could scupper the buyout. No doubt they will find something else to moan about!
  22. Technically permitted in November but morally wrong in December trip to Dubai. The Covid situation changed dramatically with the appearance of the new strain in early December. After this shambles about the Celtic trip, it will be interesting to see what the beaks have to say about the St Mirren and Kilmarnock appeals. Celtic are already on a warning from a Covid breach earlier in the season, will they get off again? All the talk about a weakened Celtic, half the team played against Rangers. The joy of being able to afford a large squad. Celtic have admitted that there were minor breaches in Dubai, compare that to what Kilmarnock and the Buddies did. I think all the provincial fans know what will be overlooked and who will be punished.

    AGM 2020

Has anybody been contacted regards the 2020 AGM? It normally should be around early December. Is it on hold pending the financial investigation that has been reported recently. As a Company, does the Club not have an obligation to it's shareholders to bring them up to date.
  24. Gilmour given a bit of a rough time. There are three parts to the Covid issue. The Government decision was simply based on number of cases, risks to other players etc. They are not worried who is infected, simply number of cases, exposure, risk etc. They do not look at individual players etc The UEFA situation only dictates the number of players you need to field. It does state that it is 13 players INCLUDING a goalkeeper. The situation of losing 3 goalkeepers very late in the day is a football issue. The emergency rule is there but what would be the outcome if St Mirren had conscientiously endeavoured to get an emergency goalkeeper and given the difficulty such as player needs to be Covid tested, failed through no fault of themselves. Hearts having a goalkeeper in training and tested was pure luck. Outfield players have gone in goals but seldom from the start. To me insisting they put an outfield player in goals is the wrong part.
  25. Interesting to listen to Tommy Wright on Sportsound podcast last Fiday. When talking about St Mrren going to Ibrox, he was asked about how difficult it is to go to the ugly sisters. He explained very clearly that the difficult part is not defending against the Old Firm, most teams can get men behind the ball. the most important aspect is when you do get the ball, do not give it back to them easily, try to hold it, take the steam out of the game. As I sat and watched the game, i could just hear his words coming back to haunt us! Hot potato fotball, In most cases 2 passes and Rangers had the ball back. Jim needs to get that part fixed. Not fair to comment on Obika, any worldclass striker would have been isolated on Sunday. Sadly might be more of the same on Wednesday.
