  1. We budget for one game in each of the cups albeit that the revenue is split.
  2. I'm guessing (hoping) that it was a "tongue in cheek" reference to Tommy Craig's response at the weekend.
  3. I'm sure "Slash" doesn't need me to defend him but he didn't say "major problems" he said that Tommy Craig was a "major part of the problems".......you yourself wanted Lennon to go, as did I (although I never really said it out loud), and I can only guess that was because you believed there was some sort of problem that required sorting or changing.
  4. To be fair, I don't think he could say anything else whether it's true or not!!
  5. I thought Brian Caldwell was already in place as CEO
  6. Maybe he uses the Astra as a "works van" rather than get his good car all dirty
  7. I'm petty sure it actually was "Gary Withey" himself that was involved and not just "the" company..........however it was only meant as a tongue in cheek jest and a giggle at a previous "takeover" bid. Now that I know I'm not allowed to do it I will resist the temptation in future!!
  8. Was Gary Withey the lawyer that was brought into St Mirren boardroom by Ken McGeoch?? If so he's been arrested as part of a police investigation into the sale of Rangers...........he's only been arrested, not charged, so far. Hopefully he's not acting on behalf of this lot of "Secret Buyers"!!
  9. Used my "14p off" at Tesco Greenock last week so took price of diesel down to £1.12 per litre instead of £1.26 per litre.....drove to Oban got on the ferry to Tiree to discover diesel at £1.48 per litre!!
  10. It isn't about his "professional" contract (he says) it's about his registration and they are different things. For example Motherwell held James McFadden's registration last season but he wasn't paid or "employed" by Motherwell.
  11. I would think if his legal team were so confident of victory then the last thing they would want, for now, is to go to the papers..........more likely they are trying to embarrass the club into letting him go. IoBS, these things aren't always cut and dried and I'm guessing you haven't seen a copy of his contract, if you have then I stand corrected.
  12. It happened about 300 yards from my office in Westburn Street in Greenock and close to where my partner parks her car...........unfortunately this wasn't an uncommon occurrence in the area close to the bus stops and near an underpass. It is also quite close to the chemist shops where a lot of the addicts come for their "methadone" and then congregate in this area for the rest of the day, it can be quite intimidating at times just walking through what is a town centre area.
  13. I was starting to feel left out and that maybe I was the only person left who doesn't know who these guys are. Maybe if we could upgrade the sausage rolls to canapés we may encourage a different type of "guys in suits" to come forward.
  14. Is that guesswork BtB or have you heard who these guys are??
  15. Have to agree with a lot of what davidg has to say, a truly brilliant sporting experience. The golf was brilliant but the whole package was superb, right from the 5.20 train out of Gourock. The organisation was excellent although ScotRail could maybe have got us out of Gleneagles a bit sharper and the stewards treated everyone with a smile, a joke here and there but more importantly respect, football stewards could learn a lot from them. The atmosphere was brilliant and although quite noisy it was all good humoured, both sides were treated with respect without exception. Even after Europe had won the remaining games were completed in a good and fair spirit. As Bob Bubka said this morning on TalkSport, "there are Ryder Cups and then there are Ryder Cups in Scotland". He said it was the best golfing experience of his life and he's been covering golf around the world for over 30 years My only gripe would be no cider and no heavy at the bars so it was slightly warm wine for me but that's no real complaint.
  16. Interesting pairings right enough, weak link for Europe may be Bjorn but he has great experience and possibly a temperament to suit Kaymer........bring it on!!
  17. Tickets arrived safely, train booked.............now just need to set my alarm for 5am on the 26th and drag my arse out of bed to get to the first tee on time!!
  18. In all this there is a wee unwell boy who is now separated from his parents (due to arrest) and his family which cannot be good for him. The arrest, they say, is for neglect..........can anyone tell me why their crime of neglect is worse than Madeline McCann's parents who have never been arrested. This seems like a reaction that is well over the top, surely the parents should be helped and the boy get the best treatment available rather than being arrested and punished for doing what they see as best for their child in a desperate situation.
  19. Big Yards, on 29 Aug 2014 - 13:08, said: He's also factually incorrect!!
  20. Thanks Stuart, I honestly thought I may have missed something but this is the political posturing I'm talking about. Politicians, and others, accuse people of things they wanted to hear them say rather than what they actually said. It then becomes fact, even though it isn't, and is regurgitated by people trying to prove their point. For what it's worth we haven't yet reached the end of August and Ms Sturgeon may or may not announce "parliaments" decision by then although whether it would have saved Fergusons or not is neither here nor there. If an announcement was made today for example there would be a design phase, a tendering phase and a planning phase before any new contract got off the ground.....what would have sustained Fergusons in the meantime??
  21. I have said all through this thread that if he's guilty he should be dealt with accordingly by the relevant people, I just don't feel the need to apply labels to people and to claim that I am better than them, I don't see myself as better than anybody else. I have done plenty wrong in my life and don't feel superior enough to judge other people from a position of "holier than thou". I do remember a term "90 minute bigot" that applied to the old firm supporters who claimed they only sang sectarian and terrorist songs at the football, I see a certain symmetry in your "it's just banter between friends argument" versus comments made in the workplace. If a comment is wrong (and this is using your standards for what remarks are wrong) then it's wrong no matter the company. Good news for Mr MacKay is that the texts appear to be private and by your very own high standards that's OK.
  22. Just for clarification Stuart, when did Ms Sturgeon commit to such a vessel, I'm not saying she didn't I just haven't read anything as definitive as you are suggesting and whether the timescales would have been realistic enough to save Fergusons. I ask because I hate the political posturing and blame that attaches itself, on all sides, to situations like this. For clarification, I have a vested interest in Dunoon-Gourock services due to having elderly relatives in Dunoon and who find the current service difficult although not impossible.
  23. Why is there a difference, a discriminatory remark is just that whether it is made in public or not, you're only justifying your discrimination. Having obviously not seen as much of the information and evidence as you have, just how public were those texts and emails?? As I have said repeatedly I think his remarks, if correct, are wrong.........I just don't feel the need to judge people or to justify my indiscretions by comparing them, favourably or otherwise, against others.
  24. I couldn't care what you think about what I do or don't know, coming from someone who regularly quotes football agents etc that he has been speaking to/communicating with, it does make me smile (or is that cringe). I am prepared to accept that we all know people from all walks of life for many different reasons. Why does the workplace have any baring on whether remarks are acceptable but i'll take that as an admission that you have, at some point, made remarks that others may have found offensive or were just plain wrong. I don't feel the need to label or berate anybody, especially with discriminatory names like "pariah" and "dinasaur" to describe people that have "allegedly" made offensive remarks. I already mentioned "Now TC let's hear you deny that you have ever cracked a "sexist", "racist" or "xenophobic" remark............I'm not proud of the fact that I will have, at some point in my life, done one of the above but this whole "let's castigate someone from our ivory tower" position gets on my nerves just as much as the stupidity and ignorance of the original remarks." Good to know that you're better than Malky MacKay, hope that makes you sleep better at night in your sanctimonious splendour!! I am sure I have made remarks that I shouldn't have at some point in my life
