  1. The United boy playing wide left whined the whole game.

Think it was him who stood on Saints player (Had turned away never saw who it was on the ground)right at the end and started the rammy.

Must admit, when I saw the big lad Souttar at the back I thought he looked like a big lumbering guy who would be a bit cumbersome and just boot the ball up the park at every opportunity, but he showed some pretty nice touches and was confident on the ball. with good guidance he could develop into an excellent CH, big strong and solid.

  2. Ridgers should be looking for a move away from this farce, the lad did nothing wrong before clangers came in and ousted him for the Morton game, why would he want to come back to this.....

From all accounts it was Murray who forced Ridgers into the move. He may want to come back under a new man and prove his worth.

I hope so as Langfield needs a wee spot on the sidelines to give him a shake!

No experienced keeper should lose a goal from a cross that bounces inside his six yard box. Should be claimed every time.

As for the free kick....well struck, but dead centre at arm height...yet Langfield was no where near it!

  3. I must be in the minority, I love Friday night games thumbup2.gif

I have no issue with the Friday night. I also like night games, my issue is the change in date more than a week after the announcement.

People like to make plans early to get good deals on flights etc. I had to change a shift to get the weekend off, and then they change it to the Friday for no apparent reason?

Announce the Friday at the time....no problem.

  4. So! Nine days after the fixture is announced, clearly stating that it would be played 9th/10th of January, the clubs decide to play it on the 8th!!

How many people have arranged transport to get to the game from a distance? How many, like myself, have had to try to change shifts so they get the weekend off, and now find themselves working the Friday night and having a fully free weekend!

Why can't they make any changes at the time the fixtures come out. This does not even appear to be for the sake of TV?

I'm not knocking the attempt to add some fun to games or even the Friday night date, just the timescale of the announcement from the initial dates being published.

  5. My work colleague found this among his late father-in-laws possessions. Can anyone identify what year this is from it's before my time? Do you know if it is of any special significance or worth anything? His father-in-law lived in Barcelona and doesn't know how he managed to end up with St. Mirren memorabilia!

Definitely 1983-84. The badge is the one from the strips of 1981-84.

Alex Miller, Bobby Cousar and Eamonn O'Neil were only ever at the club together for that season. Miller arrived in October 83 the two players left at the end of that season.

  6. If ur not at the game then u can't comment f**king sick of clowns on here that go to about 2 ganes a season

    Comment if ur at game

So sorry. Forgot St Mirren is now a two tier supporter organisation.

Those that are entitled to speak cos they are super fans and those that for reasons unbeknown to even superb persons like yourself cannot make every single game!

Just goes to prove that some of us have actually got a life and family unlike sad bastards like you!

  7. Didn't see the game today, but you have to question the brains of a lad who with 3 minutes left in a 3-0 defeat and brought in on an emergency loan as there is no-one available to play the role, why you'd drag a guy down instead of just letting him go. The game is lost by that point and we're severely weekend again for our doing next weekend.

Wasn't at the game either, but reading reports etc, they all talk about him being the last man, on the halfway line!

There is no such thing as 'Last man rule'. It is denying a goal scoring chance. Surely if it was a clear cut scoring chance, from the half way line the rest of our team need to chuck it now! Booking for the foul;, but unless it was violent conduct or similar, no way a red should be given in these circumstances.

    Surely we have to appeal!

  8. Decent game tonight.

First Motherwell goal, defence caught trying to play short passes inside their own 6 yard box.

Equaliser was a sweet shot from the edge of the box from Lewis McLear.

Just before half time Luke Conlan (playing centre half - not lost out at left back!!) picked up the ball midway between our box and half way! He picked out one of the sweetest passes I have seen from a Saints player in a while, straight between the Well CH and RB for Jordan Stewart to run onto and calmly slot it behind the keeper!

    2-1 Saints at HT

Into the second half and one of the most bizarre goals I have seen! Assist 100% lies with the referee.

Dan Wilks is penalised for holding onto the ball too long - ref awards a free kick and books Wilks. All good so far.

He than wrestles the ball out of Danns hands and places it at the foot of a Motherwell player who touches it to another well player who shoots, Wilks blocks the shot but the rebound is slotted home for 2-2!

By the time the ball hits the net, half the players are still around halfway, making their way to the Saints box for the free kick!!

No waiting for the refs whistle, no waiting till everyone is 10 yards back, just the ref placing the ball and Well scoring!!! Bizarre.

Thankfully Saints managed to find the winner when Morgan made one of many fast breaks and Mclear was on hand to tap in after the keeper parried Morgan's shot.

If Lewis Morgan could add finishing to his game, he would be some player. three times tonight he broke free from inside our half and got one on one with the keeper, each time he shot straight at him, luckily the third one rebounded out to McLear.

Good performances from most Saints tonight. Impressed with McLear in a forward role rather than midfield. Cuddihy did well in the middle rather than RB.

Conlan solid at CH, not LB. Morgan fast and tricky on the left wing, not the right!

Everyone else got pass marks except McGrath! Shows signs of being a decent player but too quick to get into 'discussion' with the referee and as for the petulant kicks at people...fully deserved to get sent off! He looked as if he was losing the plot a few minutes before the second yellow but thankfully going down to 10 men did not cost us.

  9. Belter!

I've still got mine - my son has worn it to a couple of matches but he's not keen on the material.

    100% polyester. Oof.

THat was the first Saints strip I ever had. Got both home and away ones. Sadly I have no idea where the away one is now. Still have the home one! Doesn't fit me anymore for some reason!!!

  10. This belter turned up on my Twitter timeline today.

This was a couple of seasons before I started watching the Saints so I don't recognise many of the players. Any older Buds able to put names to them?

Love that they're not all wearing the same shirt..

Back row (l to r): Henry Mowbray, Alistair Lafferty, Graham Hart, Jim Herriot, Scott McKay, Tony Fitzpatrick, Paul Stewart

Middle row (l to r): Johnny Fulton, John Dickson, Sandy Cleland, Brian Third, Jason Walker, Richard McLachlan, Wilson Lamb, John Jamieson, David Millar

Front row (l to r): Willie Cunningham (manager), Bobby McKean, Gus McLeod, Willie Johnston, Jim Taylor, Dave Robertson, Dunky McGill (trainer)

  11. i like the team although we should start with this team and formation and we should eventually change agnew or carswell possibly late on with gall and move him up top with Thompson on even switch him with Thompson and move McMullan inside and morgan right agnew left

we do have options with the players at our disposal

Agree with the changing later in the game, but would never move Morgan right. Completely lost on the right anytime I've seen him there. Much better on the left.
