  1. 1 - Old Firm. Get them ta feuk out of Scotland, the sooner the better. 2 - Paisley's one way system. Obviously designed by a prat who does not live in the town. Maybe the person is from Greenock 3 - Charter Flights. Being 6,2 I have long legs and no way can i sit with my legs in front. Have to put them side ways which is impossible unless I am on the out side seat. Have not been in one for years now and don't intend to be in future. 4 - Sunday Drivers. Living in Lochwinnoch you meet more than your fare share. So next time your driving up from Largs spare a thought ! 5- Bad Boys Of Love St - You know the ones shouting abuse at players whether the players is 16 or 36. These dickheads should go back to school to learn the meaning of the words encouragement and motivation.
  2. No thanks, hate them yoch ! But no problem if you like them Jimbo.
  3. Soups don't need to be a starter they can be enjoyed as a main course with bread. My first three soups fall into that category , all are home made. 1 - THAI TIGER PRAWN & SEABASEE the soup base is coconut juice, lemon grass, ginger, chilli, corriander. red onion and takes 6 min from start to finish. Great soup. 2- Cullen Skink Cullen is a village in the north east of Scotland on the door step of the Baxters factory. This soup is a Finnan Haddock Potato soup with a wow factor ! 3- Bavarian Beef Goulash Soup Meat , potaotes, vegetables, A real heavy soup for winter day's 4- Cock-A-Leekie-Soup Another Scottish soup with chicken, leeks, potatoes , vegetables and rice. mmm ! 5- Italiano Mr Stronie To you and me Minestrone , Tomato based stock with vegetables and Pasta , yum yum !
  4. Expecting Rain, That's the reason I bought the album on the strength of Oxegen and what a pleasure it is to hear. The album has a country rock , folk feel to it . Don't let that put you off as lot's of good music comes from this area. Eagles , Neil young to name but a few. The album is fill of great song's. I won't be in Paisley till next week or I will be at the Clyde game. So If you would like me to burn you a copy so you can have a listem no problem just PM me.
  5. Not a bad start to the year with music........ 1-Willy Mason - Where Humons Eat 2- KT Tunstall - Eye To The Telescope 3- Feeder - Pushing The Senses 4- Athlete - Tourist 5- Bloc Party - Silent Alarm.
  6. That's what I did in a open top sports car even had the Beach Boy's greatest hit's playing. I went from LA to San Fran , this was wrong. If you ever do it go the other way San Fran to LA as you want to be on the outside ( beach side ) of the road for a better view. Greig, Thought you might have had some more South Americans in your list ? Notice I have no Africans ( people ) In mine
  7. Wrong Tom it's moved to West Hollywood However , yes it still has a large community that are...... a pain in the arse ! ! San Fran is a great town with chillied out people. It's also very diffrent from other American cities in that you can actually walk from A to B.
  8. Bill , Bill where is your humour gone ? As for the movie it's true. So rather than what nationality would I like to be I will go for where if I had the money would I puchase a second home for I have found contentment and happiness in Lochwinnoch. hope that's ok Bill 1- San Francisco 2-Cape Town 3-Island Of Jersey 4-Austria by lake St Wolfgang 5- Arran
  9. I am very proud to be Scottish and have never considered myself to be anything but Scottish. Bill has living in Engerland given you an inferiority complex I travel a lot in my work and find the Scots are loved everywhere apart from some places in Engerland.. We have to thank Mel Gibson for putting us on the map. Even when I was in the Congo locals talked to me about our fight with Engerland Italians, I have worked with them, give me a Scot any day. However the birds fall at their feet. French I have worked with them also. Something goes wrong and they panic big time. They also think France is the centre of the world a bit like the Americans. Czech , You can get their beer in any supermarket. Have you been there , some real poor souls. Auses... My girls have to clean rooms of Auses. Nobody in the planet comes close to these dirty fu-ck-ers. Irish.... Cool people, very much like ourselves however why want to be one
  10. Jeez oh Jimbo you get about ! The daughter wife and dug like a hoof along the front in Largs. I like the drive down ( put the foot down ) So I will try Morris Inn. where abouts is it ? For a fish tea it's hard to beat the one on Storie Street. Or McFees on Byers Road accross from the tube. You can get a salmon supper there and they let you take in your own bottle. Oddbins is only two doors down
  11. woops ! Thanks Tom McB. I have heard their is a good restaurant in Langbank, you would not know it's name by any chance ? The Chip is that the one off Byres Rd. If so I thought it was a bit pricy for what it was. In saying that a lot of Glasgow's Restaurants are a bit on the high side of which I found the La Gamba to be well over the top. I will try Stravaigan's
  12. Being in the catering trade I often go out with Mrs Lochwinnoch to eat in reataurants to find new idea's and inspiration. Of the many I have ate in here are in my view the best by quite a margin. Put down yours can be any type of food, even a chippy ! 1- Braidwoods Restaurant just outside Dalry. This is a cracker of a place. Fixed menu of 4 courses for £36.00 can be washed down with good wine in the £15.00 bracket which is not a rip off. This is a husband and wife team who are both holders of master chef's of great Britain. The restaurant also has a Michelin star. Well worth a visit. You have to book this 4 weeks in advance. That should tell you something ? 2- Ragano Another class place though the decor is a bit 60s however the food more than make up for this. 3 - 78 St Vincent Street Restaurant Good nosh 4-City Merchant Restaurant Good for seafood ! 5- Glenleven Inn. A pub in Kilbarchan with food the beats off a lot of so called good restaurants. All of the above need to be booked especially at weekends.
  13. Piss off Jimbo yer no that old ! 1.... Ian Munro 2.... Bobby McKean 4 .....Jim Blair 5..... Archie Knox Extra 5...... Everyone of Fergie's furies Extra extra 5....Alex Smith cup winning team for giving me one of the most unforgettable day's of my life. What a day, night and morning. Superb. The game only came to life in extra time, who cares we won the Scottish Cup
  14. Most venues mentioned above are good but how could the fruit market be missed out which is another great venue tut tut ! ! SSEC has got to be the worst however if you stand whithin the 50ft mark of the stage the sound is not too bad. Anything past 50ft the sound is terrible. My top two favs are Carling Acadamy which has great acoustics no matter where you are sitting or standing for that matter. The fact that the bar has live coverage on large plasma screens means you miss nothing of the gig. Like a smaller Green's Playhouse with better acoustics QMU..Another great gig venu, up close and in your face , turn it up
  15. The Music - Welcome To The North LostProphets - Start Something The Killers - The Killers Interpol - Antics Judas Priest - Brittish Steel
  16. Bill Lees choice is not that bad amaican All Stars are a cover band in a raggie sort of way. The Crusaders are a class.
  17. Aye yer no often right Sid however this time you are.
  18. 90's An entire decade of complete and utter pish
  19. Bud The Baker. Bob Marley you are one lucky man. Hope you were not on the weed ! Dream Theater should be bigger in this country i seen them in the Cathouse few years ago. Good choice Bud ! This aint too bad ether though Chuck Berry must be a close run thing with Buddy Holly. So much good music in the 60s where do you begin infact maybe the best decade ever. 70s Again so many good progressive bands not easy to pick , has to be a personal choice REM were good best of the 08s mmmm ! Nirvana, ok Nivermind is a personal classic but best of the 90s fuu-cck off no way the other albums from Nirvana were not ground breaking. Has to be the Spice Gils Only jocking I dont know who it could be ?
  20. Do YOUR OWN best live acts not some fuu-cck wit from a tv programe. Out of all the live acts i have seen, wow hard one this. their is so many however i will try. 1- Pink Floyd - Earls Court 2- Muse - SSEC 3- Green Jelly - Cathouse 4 Deff Leapord - Hysteira tour at the Playhouse. Also the loudest band i have heard 5-Thin Lizzy- Glasgow Apollo
  21. Some superb Cd albums kicking about just now. 1/ Dayna Kurtz..... Beautiful Yesterday (Jazz blues) 2/ Wilco...... A Ghost Is Born (another cracker from Americas country rockers ) 3/ The Manic Street Preachers Life blood...... ( classic ) 4/ Razorlight ..... All Night ( Liverppol band nothing new here in there pop rock ) 5 /Prince......Musicology ( His best album yet better than 1999 and Purple rain put together, wonderful ) Scottish band "Dead Dogs Die In Hot Cars" Sound quite Talking head'ish very good Cd. John Michel Jar has re-recorded all his clasics to give his tracks a modern feel. It comes with a free music dvd in souround sound to blow your head off if you have a good system for it to play on. The new Cd from the "Music" is a pure rocker, think of Led Zeppelin with out the clasic songs. Very good young band out of Leeds.Glasgow's Blue Nile have another cracker of a Cd not long out, chillout over a roaring fire and glass of good Bordeaux with your good lady and see what happens
  22. Chinford can we not give Bill a very small clue like it might be up above in a post Come on Bill all Saints fans should know who our beer sponsor is. As chinford wrote T T !
  23. I think it's Lowenbrau that you mean, Iain - never heard of Longbrow Thanks Bill ! I quite like the odd real ale followed by a nice wee malt, very nice !
  24. Maybe this has been doen before if so appologies. Budvar was mentioned in the "General Discussion" today and so had me thinking of a nice chilled beer. Here is a tip if you have never tried drinking you're fav beer this way. Let the water run in the inside and out side of you're glass. Give the glass a shake ( not dry ) Now put in freezer. This can be done 30min before drinking or even the night before. When ready put chilled beer in frosted glass for the ultimate beer ! ! Top Five Beers 1/ Zywiec....Polish beer can be bought in Cafe Beir in the City Merchant, must be tried. 2/ Budvar....Readly avalible everywhere and never to be confused with the American chemically made pish. 3/ Longbrow..... ( hope it's spelt right ) For me the best of the German beers 4/ Carlsberg Export....Must be the Export as it's far better than local brewed Carlsberg......Anyone tried there very powerful blow you're head off Elephant beer, wow it's a strong one ! 5/ Tennants.... Yes our very own lager can be drank all night for that happy none headache feeling and for that alone is in my top five. What's you're fav ?
