Isle Of Bute Saint reacted to bazil85 in Club Should Demand VAR in Scottish Football
For me the reason similar systems to VAR work in sports like American Football & Rugby is the nature of those games (much more stop start) allows for every decision to be scrutinised.
VAR can't work and has now been categorically proven not to work in football because of the free flowing nature of our sport. It's the same reason it's the best and most popular sport the world over. The only way it would be fair, would be to review every dubious decision from throw in to goal kick, remove assistant referees making any but the most clear cut offside call & playing on until VAR reviews everyone and obviously that isn't practical given the hold-ups.
Failed experiment, hopefully the people in charge put their hands up to this and remove it from our game. Has really put me off EPL & CL in recent months.
Above is just my opinion on the matter and the reasons for it. Appreciate others are still in favour.

Isle Of Bute Saint reacted to East Lothian Saint in Celts v Saints ( Plus all other scores that might be importance to us)
Phoned up this morning to get 4 tickets. They only had restricted view left.
That wasn't a problem but I'm sure the lady said they hadn't sold that many tickets which made me wonder. 'How many unrestricted tickets did we get if we haven't sold many but we're sold out.'
I fear the worst but we live in hope.
Maybe Saints will win, Obika will score and the green brigade won't bring any political or offensive banners.
Taken that too far but the first two aren't impossible
See you all there.

Isle Of Bute Saint got a reaction from bazil85 in Club Should Demand VAR in Scottish Football
When the idea of Var came out I thought what a great idea. After watching English premiership highlights on a Sunday night its clear to see controversial decisions dont go away. Would like to see a poll of English premiership fans on what they think of VAR.

Isle Of Bute Saint reacted to Magic Monkey in Lewis Morgan..Is he injured or just out of favour?
It's been raised on here before but when was the last time we had an attack-minded manager or coach (ie one who used to be an attacker)? Mixu?
Obviously it doesn't always follow that a former defender can't teach attack - Chequebook Guardiola manages ok; Klopp was a striker to begin with but became a defender. But at our level, who is coaching the strikers to make the right runs, to find space in the box. Who is working with the wingers to make them more productive?

That would not be a surprise. Our problem is not getting Morgan back he is gone some are clutching at straws. We need to work with what we have at this time. That is a lot of practice on the training ground attacking.

Isle Of Bute Saint reacted to DougJamie in Jonathan Obika
Think we have tried that tactic ………….. and as demonstrated since 2014- it doesn't work - just destabilises the club
We have a St Mirren man at the helm- we are competing in all games so far- we are work in progress and I would imagine the main feedback in one word would be frustrating …………….

Matches like yesterday fair kill the optimism, play reasonably well, put in a hard shift and come away with nothing.

Going to this cant say I'm looking forward to it as I am a guest of the Rothesay Celtic supporters club. They even got my ticket sitting with then in the home end. They are sound people so should not get a hard time of it back at the hotel. Park the bus Goodwin.

Met a happy Arbroath fan in The Laurieston last night we got talking about refs. Like me he said he cant remember a period of such poor quality refs in the Scottish game like me he has watched football for the best part of 50 years.

Other than the Motherwell game, all our games this season have been defined by the smallest of margins.
We could easily be sitting up in 3rd instead of Killie, if we had the same mentality and momentum that they have created.
Jim needs to work hard on the training ground with our set pieces, defensively, but more importantly attacking.
7 or 8 goals from set plays in a season would take us out of the relegation picture.

Went for an impromptu pint last night which resulted in a fuzzy head this morn. Got to station to find Fecking train from NB cancelled. Scrambled a lift to Edinburgh and now on train to Glasgow. Killie here I come.
Had two visions in the haze. One obviously involves a hair of the dog but the other was Magennis will score. It just popped into my head.
See you all there Buds. Enjoy my premonition.
Now about that other vision. Wheres that hair of the dog

Stop being such a wanker.
His question is legit.
It says to print off and use the barcode. Fine.
He asked if you can scan directly from a phone.
Valid question.
Where is it answered then smart arse, or are you so busy stalking him you don't really care if he has a valid question? -

Just had a look at the weekend fixtures. If we can somehow pick up the 3 pts against Killie, it will more than likely put us just 5 pts off of 3rd place. Big incentive to get the win.
