  1. Going on that wee snippet of audio (though it could be out of context due to it's brevity):
We've spent the money we got from the Scottish Government
We're still in the black (probably excluding the Scottish Government loan) - he said we want to remain in the black going forward.
We've had costs relating to covid.

IMO, if all, or the vast majority, of our debt is the aforementioned loan, then there's no issue.

My concern is what have we spunked 1.7m on?

It would be good to understand what the shortfalls were in terms of income due to Covid, and what else has it been spent on and the expected ROI?

  2. Tam,
Have you tried contacting local churches in the area?
They have a good source of helpful people who may have contacts?
I assume you have posted on St Mirren Facebook and Twitter groups .
Well done on supporting  these displaced people.  [emoji122]
I hope they get sorted out very soon.

    Great suggestion, thank you.

  3. We recently sponsored a Ukrainian family and guests have settled in well, both are working, Tanya as an accountant, Serhii as a Car Mechanic. Their son Yehor is also starting nursery in Renfrew.

They are keen now to find their own space (with 9 people and a dog in this house, it's understandable [emoji23]).

The problem they are experiencing is via Housing Associations they are classed as Low Priority. For private rents agents are advising them that they can't help because they have no UK credit history. So they are a bit stuck at the minute.

Does anyone know of anyone (ideally in the Renfrew area with Yehor starting nursery), who has a flat available they could rent privately from them?

Hoping the power of SMFC does its magic.

  4. The way I done it when managing for those on 4 day weeks was just do their holidays in hours as opposed to days. They would have 25 days (175 hours) plus 8 Bank Holidays (56 hours) = 231 Total hours. A condensed working day would generally be 8.75hrs.

If a public holiday fell on a non working day, then they would have the holiday entitlement in their annual allowance to take whenever they want, however if it fell on a working day they would get 8.75 hours deducted from their working day.

  5. I do a 4 day week which now consists of 2 days in Glasgow in the office and 2 days working at home.

Generally do 8am-5.15pm, but in my role I pretty much manage my own time, so can flex my hours to suit, depending on meetings I have etc.

Depending on various stages of projects I can be really quiet or really busy - there's not really a middle ground, so the quiet times I'll probably work less hours, but more when it's really busy. As long as the job gets done, everyone's happy.

The con is Monday is Daddy daycare, and I have to deal with 4 kids for 12 hours, two under the age of two...

  6. I’ve just finished self isolating after testing positive. Was ill for about 10 days, just felt like a really bad flu. Took the test on the off chance due to how long it was lasting. I suspect I got it via the weans most likely as there were positive cases at their school, and had hardly been out the two weeks prior to symptoms.

I was really disappointed with T&T, I got my results back on the Wednesday and it took until the Saturday for them to contact me for close contacts. They didn’t contact close contacts for another 2-3 days after, of which one of them finished their self isolation period on the same day!

  7. Whilst the average wage in Scotland might be £31k, how many hours a week is required to earn that.. 35-40 generally.

How many hours do the players work? Probably about half of that. So if you drill down into earnings per hour, there would be a significant difference.

But it’s also a shorter career, less stability etc. Swings and roundabouts.

  8. I was Yes in 2014, and I’ve never moved from that position. I have no particular affliction to any particular party and in an independent Scotland would vote for the party with a manifesto I agreed with the most. I would hope with independence we would see an emerging of a number of new parties.

For me the recent General Elections and EU Referendum just demonstrates how far apart the political landscape is in Scotland compared to England.

I am expecting my first child next year with my Polish girlfriend, so remaining in the EU is more of a driver for me than before - although pleased to say she had settlement status granted recently.

The FPTP system is outdated and needs changed. The system for Scottish elections means it is extremely difficult to get a majority meaning all parties need to work together, and this also appeals to me.

The key element for me however, is I don’t want a WM government we don’t vote for making decisions that impact Scotland. In an independent Scotland, if the government is not performing we can hold them account at the next election. With so much power held at WM, we have no say at the minute, and I find it bonkers. I just want decisions for Scotland made by a Scottish government voted by those who live in Scotland.

  9. Think they split the business Billy.1 got the High St and the one under the bridge and the other got the Coffee Shop,Function Suite and Burger and Keg.I might not be 100% correct but it was similar to that.

    Bungalow as well now...
  10. Out of all the names being mentioned, Neilson is the one I'm most comfortable with.

Won the Championship with a number of good young players, and took Hearts to 3rd in Premiership.

If Levine was the real man in charge, then why has Hearts stumbled about mid table since?

He's proven himself at a bigger club and knows the Scottish game well. Due to the number of players we need and time constraints, we need someone with good knowledge of the game and players up here.

Next season's objective is to stay in the league, anything else is a bonus. After that it's just about year on year progression.

  11. I support the club in this decision. The Family Stand only has approximately 300 season tickets I believe - I very much doubt any campaign would have added significant numbers to allow for the OF to be restricted to one stand.

I do agree that there's a lot more we can be doing to increase attendances. But ultimately, its continued success on the park that can drive these numbers substantially.

The club has taken a decision which increases our revenue, causes inconvenience to the smallest number of people possible, whilst compensating them with discounted season tickets and match day tickets. I don't like it, but think it's the right thing to do.
