  1. Really?? Southsidebuddie ‏@southsidebuddie4h @kennymclean66 and u should be busting a gut against well to help him out he needs it #underpressure Expand Kenny McLean ‏@kennymclean664h @southsidebuddie all the players will burst their arse, can garuntee that
  2. When you see that second goal again...why was the Partick striker given the freedom of Paisley to get the free ball, turn and lay it off? If McAusland gets tighter then there is more chance of the striker either making a bad touch or the shot getting blocked. Instead McAusland (and McGinn to a lesser extent) give Doolan (who was impressive) a yard and a half in our box and are then too far away to get out to block. Amateur defending once again costing us.
  3. http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-23724517 "Changing a manager during a crisis in the season does improve the results in the short term," he says. "But this is a misleading statistic because not changing the manager would have had the same result." Hopefully the boards backing proves the making of Danny and we turn it round. He has two weeks at Ralston to get it sorted for the next game.
  4. Cornell DVZ. Goodwin. Mair/McGregor. Grainger Newton. McGinn Teale. McGowan. Bahoken Thompson The 3 behind Thompson..regardless of who is picked. Need to getup alongside him and beyond him when he gets the ball played up to him.
  5. As I left the ground yesterday...a father and son were screaming at Cornell to go back to Swansea. No idea what game they were watching.
  6. The guy isn't out the door yet...5 threads on the go to discuss the manager. And a sarcastic thanks for everything Danny thread isn't necessary imo
  7. This is a horrible thread to start Lex, even worse for Div to post in it, when the man is still in the job. We have 5 threads on the go (now merged) discussing Lennon's future. This thread should be locked until it is necessary.
  8. Really? I dont remember a St Mirren chance the last half hour. Unless you count Thompson and McGowan faffing about on the edge of the box instead of having a shot.
  9. First off I don't agree with dropping Teale under any circumstances, I've loved the guy since he signed. But it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out why Danny did it. The Thistle full backs bomb on every chance and are a big part of how they play. Newton (who was brilliant at right midfield away to Killie Last game of last season) would theoretically be better at nullifying that threat defensively. However I would argue that having Teale running at him in the other direction could have been just as effective at keeping the left back at bay. I thought Goodwin was brilliant today, and very harshly treated for the free kick that led to the second. The keeper likewise was hard done by to end up conceding two, as he played well. McAusland for McGregor please, pretty please. We have leaked goals from the centre of defence for 18 months whilst he has been a first pick, being dropped to the bench might just be the kick up the arse he needs. The new guy had a horror show, running past the ball, forgetting the ball and shooting wildly from everywhere. As much as I'd love to slate harkins and shout for him to be dropped, the guy is at the centre of everything decent we create. Its a sad day.
  10. Douglas McNeil ‏@DouglasMcNeil10m Danny Lennon confirms that paperwork all sorted and he's off to the airport to pick up our new signing.. #stmirren
  11. Hope Danny does something radical on Saturday...bring Mair and McGregor back as the centre halfs, and have both Goodwin and Newton in the midfield. Possibly the best way for us to ensure we get a grip of the midfield right from the start.
  12. If the guy could have applied himself in training, and contributed on the pitch he wouldn't have been freed. How long do you pay someone a wage hoping that "potential" turns into reality?
  13. David Cornell's only main crime is that he is not Craig Samson
  14. Surely the big question is why if the coaches had their plan for this season in place by 19th July...why did no deals transpire? Danny certainly has previous for striking early in the window. I've said it previously...something isn't right behind the scenes with regards to our transfer policy.
  15. Something must have changed during the off season as surely the club not just Danny (because the board must have sanctioned the decision's) would never have payed off all those player if sufficient numbers of replacements were not coming in. It appears Danny is being hung out to dry on this issue. I don't believe Danny is Wenger-esque and handles all the transfer details alone. Evidently in May plans were afoot for a squad overhaul, yet no early deals happened and few after. Something was/is wrong behind the scenes and disrupted our transfer business. On the pitch, we lack the pace we had at the start of the 11/12 season. Whilst Teale has been brilliant for 18 months we have no other viable threat on the other side. We need a Hasselbaink or Goncalves type to balance the team, as opponents just double up on Gary and we are stuck. If we get that pace on the left, then not only will we be able to play central midfielders in their best position, but it will also strengthen the options on the bench as 1 or 2 quality midfielder will be on it. Defensively we need a change. Cornell I feel will be fine, but is a young keeper behind a shaky defence. McGregor did fine as an emergency stop gap last week, but a right back he is not. If he is fit then he plays centre half. Get Van Zanten or Robertson at right back. Central defence is a mess, and has been for some time. During our 6 defeats in a row last season Danny could have chosen to make either Mair or McAusland out as the fall guy as both were as bad as each other. He chose Mair and replaced him with Goodwin. For me that means we can't go back to a Mair/McAusland partnership. Now the McAusland/Goodwin partnership has become I feel also untenable. I think we now need to try McGregor alongside Goodwin/Mair/ McAusland. My choice would be McGregor and Goodwin. Constructive posts like mine and others in this thread are well within reason, but the personal attacks on a man who has done nothing but speak and act positively whilst employed by our club have been disgusting and gone on far too long. However I hope he can turn the season round, the 2 strikers mentioned from France and Estonia would be a step in the right direction.
  16. I'm not commenting about the game. Just fail to see how Goodwin attempts at apologising are worse than the rest by all accounts slinking away down the tunnel.
  17. I wasn't there, but I'm really struggling to see how criticism can be aimed at Goodwin for making the effort and apologising to the fans! Surely that should be aimed at the other players who just went straight down the tunnel?
  18. Was his apology so much worse than every other players? Or was he the only one to make the effort to apologize?
  19. It's not his fault that as a professional he is expected to pass and receive the football?
  20. BBC article has Lennon quoted as saying he hopes to sign a French striker early next week. This in addition to the Estonian boy.
  21. Well if you say it's fact then it must be true.
  22. Somehow I dont think that tweet will stop folk from panicking! Good to hear that from a reliable source nonetheless. Wonder who it is!
  23. Guy has been out for a long time. I assume he still isn't 100%, but his improvement today was like night and day when compared to Inverness ie positioning, touch and fitness. He will only get better/faster with more games.
  24. I meant up at Inverness he was our best player.Like Cheesy, Goodwin also had his moments today. But both had good games. Agree with you on Teale, Harkins and Newton. Thought Grainger was brilliant, the break really helped his fitness.
