  1. Douglas McNeil confirming on twitter its Guy, Mair, Adam and Imrie who aren't in Danny's plans.
  2. He used to be a dead ball threat, during his loan spell but can we still can him that. I count 2 goals from free kicks in 2 seasons. I was at the stage where I celebrated if he got one on target or by the wall. Brittain, Vigurs, Mulgrew are the names I think of when I think SPL free kick specialists. Graham Carey epitomises what St Mirren as a club have done this season. Lack consistency, with his league cup performances papering over his poor league form. We are all in agreement that this season's league campaign has been hugely underwhelming. I'm sorry, but I cant lay the fault 100% at the manager's door. Some players performances do not merit a new deal, and Carey is one. We cant afford to have a player with "potential" on the wage bill, if that potential only comes to the fore 2 or 3 times a season. That wage is better spent on a first teamer who delivers more regularly. For us to climb that league next season, changes must be made. Now if Carey is released and the players replacing him and not of a certain standard then I will complain. But imo this is the right decision, If someone isnt contributing regularly then his wage could be better spent elsewhere.
  3. Playing off the striker...without the pressure of being the No.9. Billy could flourish.
  4. Ok granted...but McLean's all came pre injury. So was actually quite an impressive first half of the season. Both of these guy's have been more productive than Carey, yet fans are chasing those two out of the club and clamouring to keep Carey. Its bizarre to me. Has he? Hadn't read that, only knew about Brittain signing a pre-contract.
  5. I hope Iain Vigurs is on our shortlist. Goals from midfield (which if Mclean leaves we wont have), and can strike a set piece. If given the choice of Vigurs or Carey, I'd choose Vigurs.
  6. General Nonsense for this surely, nothing to do with football or St Mirren. The guy shouted to get a reaction, and he got one. Right or Wrong...what was he doing, surely given the non-award of the penalty on the whistle, his shouting should have been directed at Bobby Madden.
  7. Traditional home kit, and a red or dark away kit. We have no need for a 3rd kit surely, how many times did the team wear this seasons?
  8. http://www.saintmirren.net/pages/?p=21984 Not sure about the pattern in the stripes.
  9. Along with... "Oh and they have another one, It's stunning, absolutely stunning here at Hampden"
  10. Its not who I want to go. Just can't see us being able to keep them. Possibly 1 of them or maybe Newcastle send them back. Hopefully. I also think Imrie could still play a part for us next year.
  11. All the loanees will be gone. Along with McLean, Imrie and Parkin I think.
  12. Not so sure about Carey...but Imrie is visibly not happy. But the guys in front of him are playing well. Talk of Danny losing the dressing room can be well and truly quashed!
  13. Cup win can only be bettered by winning the league! Wouldnt trade our season for anybody's. ICT, Motherwell and Ross County are playing for 2nd, 3rd or 4th place. Nobody will remember that in 1, 5 or 10 years time. We will remember yesterday forever, and will go down in history as the 2012-13 League Cup Winners.
  14. Same team as played Celtic in the Scottish Cup with Goodwin in for Mair is what I expect. Carey, Imrie & Guy our options from the bench. Lets be honest, Danny cant win regardless of who he picks. We have 13 players with a good claim to be start. The only way we will all be pleased is if we come home with that trophy, and as long as that happens who cares what team starts!
  15. Yeah that's what I was meaning. Hopefully Heart's lose the plot on Sunday. Webster & Wilson off for violent conduct!
  16. Hearts have the derby as their last game before the final. Doesn't give them much chance of rotating players, unlike us. If it turns out to be a fiery Edinburgh derby, will any red cards carry over to the Final?
  17. The great man hopes to manage Saints one day! Would be glorious!
  18. The only position we can afford to sell is the centre mid position, as we realistically have 5 guys fighting for 2 or 3 spots. And that is me counting Goodwin as a centre half. Was tempted to say we could let Parkin go, but should the unthinkable happen. And its that unthinkable I'm not even typing it. Sam is the closest like for like replacement we have.
  19. Gary teale is in just about the form of his life. He was involved in everything positive that we did on Saturday. Lays the ball off to Newton for the 1st, wins the corner and penalty for the 2nd, and slips the ball to cheesey for the 3rd. His work rate as well for a 34 yr old winger is immense, then to cap it all off he bursts into tears on the radio! Great guy!
  20. check out the sportsound podcast for thommo talking about what it meant for him to score and run towards the saints fans today. one of the best moments of his career! Magical...he is just living the dream that we all have, and loving it. Also you get to hear, Teale crying along with Gilmour and wee Chick..pretty emotional.
  21. always said that's where he is best. His problem was that Dummett had made that position his own. Now hopefully with a bit of a point to prove Carey produces a sparkling 6 months of form. Signs a new deal, and leads us to a cup double and top 6. And ends the yearly search for a left back!
  22. That was pretty special. Nobody let the club down. Danny in the face of much criticism and ridicule got every detail spot on. Just look at the reaction's to the goals, Danny, gowser, thommo, nobody can question their commitment to the cause. For 5000 or however many fans were there, immense. For once there was no negativity...nobody hurling abuse at an individual player. Everyone was in that together! 2013 could be a very, very special year for this club. Lets win this thing!
  23. A new signing always brightens up the day. Hope he has a good impact til the end of the season.
  24. It's not a signing for a one off game. We are also still in the Scottish Cup, with a winnable home tie. So long as the signing does affect the performances of the living legend that is Sir Seven Thompson, and we can afford to do so. Surely it's worth the risk.
