  1. DL the manager's ability can be questioned time and again. DL the man, (much like Tony Fitzpatrick) cannot. He's a genuinely good man with nothing but good words for this club. Yeah he's cliched as f**k, but he's a straight up good person, as was documented regularly on this very website by the recently departed lad, Kevin, who Danny used to visit in hospital on a regular basis. Poor decisions? Evidently. Tactically Naive? Probably. Hung out to dry by the BOD? Who knows? But deserving of personal abuse such as being called a Fanny? Have a word with yourself.
  2. If true, then I'd hope that they'll be following him out the door in January. Regardless of who they are. They have no right to play God with the club's league status, whether they like DL or not. DL's ability as a manager and a motivator can be called into question time and again (and regularly is). DL's ability as a human being can't. He's a genuinely good, kind-hearted man and he certainly doesn't deserve a dressing room revolt from a bunch over over-payed primadonnas.
  3. Oh, I know he is. My issue is that there isn't a lot being said on here. SG was very quick to keep the masses in the loop last summer with the whole Sevco debacle on this very site and I'm under no illusions that he's read most everything said on the matter on here. Unfortunately though, at a time where a lot of people were frothing at the mouth over the summer, about budgets, signings etc, he could have quelled a few concerns, without going into specifics. As it stands though. It's simmered away since then. Rumour has met counter rumour and we're now at a stage where instead of DL, the majority of the shit is falling at the BODs' door.
  4. Unfortunately for them it's a lose-lose. The prospect of paying up DL for his contract or the eventuality that our crowds will drop to sub 3,000 every week. Because it will happen if something isn't done. They HAVE to act. As you know, SGG is an active member of this forum and is regularly contributing....his lack of activity in the last few weeks in the face of increasing unrest is concerning to say the least. I don't know the ins and outs of whats gone on over the summer with regards to budgets and the likes, but it's extremely odd that a guy who usually had the bones of his business wrapped up relatively early in the summer, had to scramble for so many loan signings from other clubs. Are the board now resting on a nest-egg and unhappy to fork out more, reducing their share? I hate to be a cynic, but it certainly seems that way.
  5. Listen, we can still salvage this. There's enough of the season left to play to suggest that we can look back on this and laugh come May. What is becoming increasingly obvious, though, is that Danny isn't the man to salvage this. Last season, we lost 6 on the spin and looked unlucky in spells, playing good attacking football and not getting the breaks. We don't have that this time, there isn't a light at the end of the tunnel in terms of a result waiting to happen for us. Every week we're walking in expecting a resounding victory for the opposition, and that's exactly what's happening. That can't continue.
  6. Probably not a bad thing, He's another one who has been f**king shambolic since signing.
  7. It was 5 mins left I think, but that doesn't matter. The cup final last year is my favourite match and moments ever, but there's still something about that day in Motherwell which sets it head and shoulders above anything I've ever watched in a Saints game. I don't know if it was the drama, the twists and turns, the fact that we were beaten and relegated. I don't know. All I do know is that when our 3rd goal went in, I literally sunk to my knees while chaos was going on around me, before screaming like a banshee... I couldn't even jump about any more, I was mentally and physically exhausted. It was indescribable how amazing the turn of events were that day, and in the space of around 15-20 minutes. It was like a solid half hour of total and utter jubilation as we went from despair to joy. There were many late scenes from 1999-2000 as well which were outrageous, but none are just as dear to me as that day in Motherwell. I watch them and I'm happy. I watch that day at Fir Park and I still get the lump in my throat. That's the difference for me.
  8. I'm peeved at McGregor being dropped and Harkins not being dropped.
  9. Kevs buddies was his pie and bovril name, I think, mark. Condolences to his family and friends. RIP.
  10. Marc McAusland never put a foot wrong today. Anyone who thinks he had a poor game must be blinded by pure hatred of him.
  11. You obviously haven't taken in anything i'm saying. My criticism is of the fact that the tactics are being set out to accommodate him, not that it's Jim setting the tactics out FFS. That's a quite obvious criticism of Danny Lennon on my part. Do you think his performances have been of a decent standard at centre-half. aside from 100% effort (which is the bare minimum I'd expect of my captain)?
  12. Paul McGowan, yet again was the only guy beyond our back 3 who looked at all interested. Goodwin was trying, yes. The problem is, he's not very good in the position he's being played.
  13. Today we changed formation yet again to a 3-5-2. Now to me, this served one purpose and one purpose only. Bringing back a good, solid centre half in Darren McGregor, whilst meaning not having to drop the skipper, whose performances are becoming increasingly erratic, bordering on shambolic. I said it weeks ago and stand by it, the Goodwin centre-half experiment has failed and failed badly and it's time to accept it. He's a constant danger of giving away a penalty and/or walking a red card tightrope as he is usually booked early doors. Today, like most of this season, he seems to revel in dropping to the edge of the box to take the goalie's short by-kicks, before either passing it to a full-back (50% of the time), humping it out of the park (25% of the time), or putting us under severe pressure from an onrushing opposition player (25% of the time). I lost count of how many times today he ploughed through McGregor for a clearing header when the ball was clearly McGregor's to win. He is (or at least was) a very good holding midfielder....he's never in a million years an effective centre-half. If he doesn't have the legs for the midfield enforcer role any more, well that's just tough titty. Because he's doing us more harm than good playing the way he is and where he is. I like Jim, he's a good guy and has been a great skipper.....but he's not a centre-half. Nowhere even close.
  14. McAusland never put a foot wrong today defensively. Not one. Goodwin on the other hand is a f**king shambles. We went to a 3-5-2 today simply to accommodate bringing the impressive Darren McGregor back in without having to drop Goodwin. He's a defensive liability and spends around 65 minutes of every match walking a red card tightrope. He constantly drops deep to receive a 3 yard pass from the keeper so he can f**k about with the ball and generally get put under a LOT of pressure, about 25% of the time in which he passes the ball straight to an opposition player. He was woefully out of position in the second half to put the Estonian boy 1 on 1 with our goalie. He's a gash centre half. f**king garbage. A manager with balls would have dropped him weeks ago rather than playing a shite system to fit him in. If he doesn't have the legs for midfield anymore, then it's time to move on to pastures new.
  15. I'm simply too exasperated to have a rant on this anymore. I know we've had far worse times down the years, but it's soul destroying watching that.
  16. I was about 13 at the time and was taller than him.
  17. Gary McGrotty once stopped me in the street in Marmaris as he recognised me from my time as a ball boy.
  18. How would you feel if your son had made his debut for his new side, was 6 minutes into his home debut, hadn't particularly done anything wrong and one of his own numbnut 'supporters' (and I use that term very loosely) in the stand started shouting at him to f**k off home and he was shite. Would that bother you in the slightest? I'd wager it would. I'd wager you'd be raging and would be desperate to protect your son from such unwarranted abuse from such a vitriolic excuse for a man. If what was said to the young lad was true (and you haven't denied it yourself), it wasn't a 'bit OTT' it was f**king bang out of order. Fact of the matter, Jake Caprice done nothing wrong, absolutely nothing. He came on with 6 minutes left at 2-1 down, was played badly out of position, chased down a few balls unsuccessfully, didn't really know where he was supposed to be and had to do this in front of a frustrated support. One guy in the crowd singles him out for abuse and the lad, as someone else said, was clearly rattled by it as it was unwarranted and unneccesary.
  19. I still don't get the continued disregard and outright hatred for the keeper. He's young, yes, but he';s a decent shot stopper, is a far better kicker than Samson, is good in the air and seems to have a decent command of his box. What has he actually done wrong? Did he make a single mistake yesterday? Seems people are hounding him from what they were told in pre season. I think he's a good goalkeeper.
  20. I don't have an issue on making our feelings known at full time. There is an issue and as fans, the easiest way to show that we care is to let the players know, as long as the game is over. Apathy in this situation would be much worse. Booing a player or team during the match is completely different scenario and isn't going to help a player get their heads up. Cornell applauded when we were leaving, I shouted over the barrier at him to keep his chin up, it was thanks to him we were still in that game as long as we were. I don't know if he understood me though, so apologies if it looked or sounded to him like he was getting abuse, I assure you though, he wasn't, not from me anyway.
  21. So for anyone who doesn't understand this omnishambles of a post. "I pay my money, so I'll abuse who I like" Classy.
  22. It wasnt great, he and Thompson were desperately isolated up front though with no help from the midfield. Ill reserve judgement until the boy settles in a bit.
  23. Anyone screaming abuse at a 20 year old kid, far from home and making his home debut needs to take a look at themselves and their own shortcomings as a human being. Embarrassing to be associated in the same crowd as people like this.
  24. You can judge this on 6 minutes of football? Tell me, why haven't you been headhunted by one of the G14 clubs? You obviously have a god-given eye for accurately judging talent based on 6 minutes of football. You could make a fortune.
  25. The gap between our 'midfield' (if you can call it that in the first half) and our two up front was massive. I've always felt that we'd come good in terms of both signings and performances. It now appears that the time for new faces has passed us by. The performances don't look like getting any better. I'm annoyed that Lennon doesn't seem to be able to motivate the team into looking like they are bursting a gut (save for a few), I'm more annoyed at individual players who don't seem to get it. I'm annoyed that Jim Goodwin was in the paper midweek shouting about how we need to knuckle down. We lost our 2nd goal and his head dropped lower than anyone else, not exactly what you want from a skipper. I'm annoyed that Paul McGowan was abused for losing the ball deep in his own half, deep into injury time, the very fact that he had to track back 40 yards to attempt to grab the game by the scruff of the neck and try and make things happen, as everyone else around him had f**king chucked it, was lost on said abusers, when pointed out to them. I'm annoyed that Conor Newton was made to look like a junior footballer today, not through his lack of ability or capability of his opponents, but that his lack of cover on the right hand side (a side in which he is woefully out of position btw), effectively saw him trying to do the job of two players and constantly chasing shadows, being done up like a kipper as a result. I'm annoyed that despite the being four (f**king FOUR ,where he got that from I'll never know), minutes of injury time, we did not look like mustering up a collective assault on Partick's box, much less their goal, the Paul McGowan incident aside. I'm annoyed that when there were guys hovering about on freebies like Higginbotham, that would have improved our squad considerably, that we were instead coveting Newcastle like subservient bitches for a player that they had no intentions of letting sign for us. I'm just f**king annoyed by it all. Really, really annoyed. I can accept defeat with a bit of fight or if we don't have a good squad on paper. Neither of these applies to us. We DO have a good squad on paper (at least a Premiership level squad) and we DON'T have a single f**king iota of fight, drive, heart or passion.
