  1. You are getting a bit of a hard time over this and I for one think it unfair, unfair indeed. Your point about Daniel Lennon's failed signings and his "this is the one ive been waiting for" type comment is are entirely fair point's to make about our currently failing manager. Mr Dickson actually made a very good post on page 2 of this thread (despite him peppering it with the old "I told to so" observation's) that again I agreed with, well almost all of it anyway. Daniel Lennon's team selection's and tactical set up are hamstringing what could be a pretty decent team of footballers. The lack of willingness to change from one up front makes it very easy for the opposition to nulify what little threat our team may have, very easy indeed. Daniel Lennon's bizarre insistence on playing players hopelessly out of position is severely handicaping our chances of winning football matches and I continue to grow increasingly worried by our manger's apparent lack of ability to set up his team. For those reasons I disagree with Mr Dickson in that a change of manager would be pointless, it is far from ideal but if we can find someone, anyone who picks his best player's and plays each in the best positions then our beloved team will have every chance.
  2. I popped in pre-match before my spirit was well and truly broken. I purchased a key ring for myself (I know I am so kind to myself) for the very reasonable price of £2. Anyway it is both a St Mirren crested key ring and a bottle opener...amazing. It is just like when someone finally put wheels on the suitcase.
  3. I do not understand why we are comparing Josh Magennis with Adam Campbell. As Josh Magennis was played on the right wing initially (yes I know that is not his natural position but you would have to ask daft Danny why) then surely we must compare Josh Magennis with Gary Teale. Obviously daft Danny feels that an out of position Josh Magennis is a better right winger than Gary Teale. Personally I think Gary Teale is a cracking player when played on the right and poor Josh Magennis is trying his best but being hopelessly out of position he is destined to struggle. Hamstrung by our daft Danny if you will. Adam Campbell is a player I would really like to see played up front with Thommo in a 442 formation. He looks to me to have a wee bit of pace about him and playing off the Thommohawk may well bring the goals that we so desperately need. Nothing will be lost in trying it as daft Danny's only tactic of one up front is failing badly. All said and done though I do feel sorry for Adam Campbell as daft Danny has sold him a pig in a poke when he brought him here on loan. A fair assumption would be that young Adam was offered first team football but is being left to rot on the bench by our daft Danny.
  4. We could put our hands over our eyes and fail to see the utter failure of the management team and choose to continue to make such statements. Yes 21 points are still up for grabs for us as they are for the teams above us. The fact is we are now hot favourites for that play off place and this failing and unchanging formula can no longer be tolerated. That performance tonight was disgraceful, the starting 11 and the set up of the team was disgraceful, the lack of idea from our failed manager is disgraceful and the position our team currently find themselves in is disgraceful. That little daft man does not have the ability to overcome his shortcomings and I am afraid we will only see the same failing and predictable dross until he is removed or we are relegated. Our team under wee daftie must be the easiest to play against in the entire league and it needs to change immediately.
  5. Goodness me indeed I did not expect anyone to fail to see that part of my point. Little Daniel has PLENTY of options so he has no excuses. The decision to stick with the same formation that has failed us all season was not out of necessity but daft Daniels choice. He could easily have started with a 442 playing, say Adam Campbell up front with Thommo. He has options wide with players like Teale ,Wylde or even MGinn playing on the left and right respectively. He has options in the middle with Goodwin, Djemba-Djemba, Newton, McLean, McGinn and McGowan all able to play various roles in that area. He can move Naismith In and go three at the back should he wish. It cannot be claimed by any sensible person that little Daniel does not have options, he is choosing not to try the alternatives.
  6. You have clearly not been a supporter of our team for very long. The squad is actually quite versatile when you look at it but unfortunately we have a stubborn and clueless little man picking the team. He has to go now and as has been said already it should have happened by now.
  7. Daniel Lennon picked that team and made them play in the same formation that makes us predictable and easy to nullify on his own. Daniel Lennon is unquestionably hamstringing our team and unless change is made forthwith we are heading for the play off. The man is failing us badly and needs replaced urgently. He has no excuses as he does have options in his squad should he wish to change the formation or starting line up. That piss poor first half performance tonight was due entirely to Daniel Lennon's lack of ability as a manager and the excuses can no longer be made for him. That little man will relegate us. Remember all that is needed for people like Daniel Lennon to be allowed to relegate us is for good people (such as the directors) to do nothing.
  8. If it were up to I then the formation would be a 4-4-2 with Thommo and Campbell up front as the current system is predictable and is failing us. We need goals. Anyway if our team have any fire in them then we will see it tonight. Come on the Saint Mirren professional football club pte ltd co first team playing squad, COME ON!
  9. Nothing less than a win will do, nothing less now come on the Mirren!

    1. Kendo

      Kendo

Careful that you don't wet your britches old chap.

  10. Thoroughly enjoyed the night, very well run and really enjoyable, really enjoyable indeed. I wonder if other top division clubs allow the fans such access to the players? In any case this is just another example of the fans council doing a good job and providing something fun for the fans. That's me been to a few things now and I can't thank the fans council enough. If I were 40 years younger I would even get involved! The woman that did the buffet, was that Sally that used to do the corporate hospitality at our dearly departed former home? A pleasant wee blast from the past.
  11. That has just cheered my old bones right up. I am off out to treat myself to a sandwich and a coffee at TaTa Bella's!
  12. We will get something but everyone is missing the most important issue, the most important issue indeed. Kenny McLean is a gowfer so if he were to leave then the club need to sign a replacement gowfer to keep the number's up for the magnificent gowf day. Add to this the fact that Danny Lennon may well need replaced and as such young Tommy Craig may go with him then we could be three gowfer's down!!!!!!!!
  13. Now I am not disagreeing with you entirely, not at all. However may I point out that someone with only seven posts would be unlikely to know Faraway Saint's posting style well enough to be able to make such a statement. One (not me you understand) may be led to think that only an alias would have such in depth knowledge of the character of regular forum user's such as "oor Faraway".
  14. Hopefully we will not hear it. As someone who attended the fans council AGM I was very impressed by the energy of the people involved. They are clearly motivated decent fans of our club who are taking an opportunity to do something constructive for our club. If I were a bit younger this is the very kind of thing that I would happily have involved myself in. So I will repeat myself, lets not hear it. I like the opportunities that the fans council are presenting for fans to interact with the players. The golf day was brilliant and I am sure this will be as well. Opportunities like this do not just happen, someone has to organise it so hats off to them. I am looking forward to the buffet already!
  15. Well said Poz. One would think that an event such as this would take a bit of organising so the current shit soup that is our clubs fortunes at present are somewhat outwith the control of the fans council. I like the concept of us supporting "St Mirrens day" on a weekend when some of the less desirable in our town will be celebrating a Saint of another country. I shall pop in this week and buy a ticket or two. The price is very good as well. As ever good luck with it and I am looking forward to it.
  16. Here goes my wee shot 1) Daniel Lennon will indeed take us into the playoffs and we survive by the skin of our plums. 2) Daniel Lennon's contract will not be renewed 3) The football will remain stale and boring and crowd numbers will dip before the season is past. 4) Desperately hopeful people will continue to allow themselves to be needlessly taxed via the lottery ticket scheme 5) Scotland will vote yes 6) Maximillion will continue to alienate people and look foolish in the process 7) Shull will reach 35,000 posts before the season is out 8) Stuart Dickson will continue to haunt this forum until death becomes him and not before 9) I will continue to evauate my bowels at 0730hrs each morning 10) Johann Lamont will NOT win Miss World 11) The price list at the catering stall's will continue to be a bug bear of Shull's 12) The remainder of the UK will sink into poverty without us Scot's providing them with free money and we will be able to look down our well pampered noses at our former equals and scoff 13) I will continue to drink more beer than my doctor would advise 14) Adam Campbell will continue to warm the bench or play wide right 15) Div will continue to tweek the appearance of this forum, in fact he will never stop 16) DFS will have a sale on 17) Needless bickering will continue on this forum 18) My pension will continue to increase below the rate of inflation 19) My urine will continue getting frothier the older I get 20) Most people will NOT read this far
  17. Great post Norrie, great indeed. Yes what you said has of course been said before, many times but not always as well. I thoroughly enjoyed reading your well constructed and sensible point of view, aided no doubt by the fact that you have my full agreement, full agreement indeed. I remain a worried man as I have been for much of my adult life owing to the support I give to this damnable but wonderful football club of our's. As I have said elsewhere I would like to see a real shake up at the club, one big throw of the dice whereby a message of intent is sent to player's and fan's alike with the allocation of some welcome gardening leave to our stressed out manager. A new broom to sweep clean, that new manager "bounce" to see us shake up our predictable style of play, play player's in the correct position's, make the player's earn the place in the first team and take this situation by the throat and banish all thought's of relegation within a few short weeks. That is what I would like but here is what I expect. We continue with the same playing style of one heavily marked striker up front with a tried, tested and failed midfield combination struggling to provide ammunition for the heavily marked Thommohawk whilst wondering what player will be playing in what position this week. A strategy of "keep it tight at the back" whilst failing to score more than a few goals whilst cursing our continued bad luck as yet more defensive errors cost yet more points. After the match we return (facing tripping us) to our horseless carriages just in time to hear our Mr Lennon speaking in boring monotone and makng statements such as "we will work hard every day" and "if it wasnt for another defensive error then we wouldnt have lost that goal and maybe next time our one shot on goal might go in and we might not let a goal in and we might win a football match next week, except its away to Celtic so we probably wont next week but the week after and the players know what they have to do and I know what they have to do and we will try and do it". We need a shake up as the fact is our current squad are a pretty decent bunch but we are hamstrung week in, week out by poor team selection and predictable and often bizarre tactics.
  18. That I do not accept, do not accept at all. The obvious exception's being that DMC fellow who claims to support thr Inverclyde unwashed and maybe DaveJ who is a Partick Thistle fan. Everyone who support's our football club want's them to do well, every single one. Even those who call for Daniel Lennon to be relieved of duty forthwith and raplaced with anything from a bucket and sponge to Mr Ian Murray deep down want to see our fabulous and wonderful little team do well. Hell even Mr Dickson who claims not to support our team at all will bubble uncontrolabe tears into his pink fluffy pillow should relegation befall us. No I do not accept that assertion, In contrast I thereby assert that those who assert that Daniel Lennon should be thrown from the managers office window only make such assertion's because they care about our club. I have never blindly supported the Saint MIrren professional football club pte ltd co, I do so with my eyes wide open yet for some reason I continue to support them. I will be supporting them on Saturday and many others who have lost faith in our current manager will be doing the same and hoping for a victory nonetheless. No-one of our persuasion wishes ill of the team, no-one at all.
  19. No they have not as the strips that you are currently seeing were not available until after the Christmas period. I know because I monitored the web site and pestered the company with e-mails reminding them of the heartbreak that certain Paisley families encountered on being unable to buy the strip of our club for the "young uns". They have done far from okay, far, far, far from okay indeed.
  20. I love golf. I don't hit the ball as far as I used to but that is just part of getting older and decrepit. That said I still hit the ball further than most lady golfer's and despite my age worn face I am better looking than any of them. The fact is that lady golfer's tend to be a bunch of right ugly bastards. What has any of this to do with our current manager's immediate future? Nothing but I am really getting bored of this now. Daniel Lennon should have been sent packing months ago and now our premier league status will be put under threat as a result. If I did not have a season ticket I probably wouldn't go myself on Saturday as I am fair scunnered, fair scunnered indeed.
  21. All this talk of sacking Daniel Lennon is a little bit of wishful thinking on the part of the exponents of "sack him now". His contact runs out at the end of the season so there really is no need to sack the man now and throw money away, no need at all. The only viable option (I mentioned earlier in this thread) would be to grant him some well deserved gardening leave, let him put his feet up, de-stress, enjoy some family time but in any case keep him well away from the first team and most importantly team selection. That would beg the next question though...who do we currently have at the club that would rise to the challenge of managing this team and steering us away from that play off place? I have been unhappy but with Daniels stupidity in the team selection department for some time but we must surely realise that our board of directors are unlikely to bring about the required change as they most likely would have do so by now. I fear that I may remain "fair scunnered with the fitba" for some time yet!
  22. Someone who claps happily. Another weekend ruined by our team and Daniel Lennon's league record continues to worsen. Better manager's than him have been pushed for less. It is going to be another long week for our kind.
  23. That is unfair. Mr Dickson does not support our wonderful club and as such we cannot expect such a non supporter to be familiar with the nuances of this fine supporters forum and what is more..........meh WOOOOOOOOOOOSH
  24. A coupe of very fair points, very fair indeed. I too have been guilty of lacking the optimisim that such a signing really should stir in one's loins. At 32 years of age and a footballing pedigree that includes playing at Manchester United in the first team under young Alex Ferguson then we really should be more excited by this. Maybe the pessimism say's more about us as pain struck supporters than it does about our new Eric Eric. I am now looking forward to seeing said Eric Eric play in the midfield for our wonderful club. I do hope however that our Dan the manager man has the resolve to overcome his temptaion to play Eric Eric up front or in goal and play him (and everyone else for that matter) in the correct position's.
  25. Fingers crossed it all works out and that elusive commanding centre half is not far behind oor Eric. From looking back over wee Eric Eric's career I think he might just be a bit better than Sean Lynch.
