Sorry to say guys but the signatures on the shirt are not authentic. Was reluctant to post as I dont like to intrude when it comes to donating to Charity but noticed the signatures straight away and they are nothing like how those players sign.

Collected Saints autographs on programmes when I was younger and could spot the difference a mile away. Tweeted Lee Mair & Vanzy so they can confirm this for me.

  2. A massive thanks to everyone who turned up (despite the heavy rain) today in Erskine and supported the St Mirren Fans Squad against M**ton Fans..

Plenty of money was raised in aid of Cancer Research and we even managed to hammer the "mighty" Ton 4-0.

Cheers to Hugh McMillan (photos below) & Allan Picken for taking photos of today's game and a huge thank you to the volunteers (Zoe, Amy, Kiara etc) who went around selling programmes and raffle tickets for the charity.

Another passionate post match interview today?

Saints continue to wait for their first win of the league season after losing to Queen of the South. Manager Alex Rae gives his thoughts.

He said: “We’re obviously in a difficult place. We’re conceding goals with considerable ease at the moment and it’s not the young ones, it’s the senior ones who are causing the problems. Unfortunately we’re making it very difficult for ourselves. We equalised and we allow them to just waltz up the pitch unopposed and get a tap in. It’s extremely disappointing.

“We created a couple of chances in the first half where their keeper pulled off a couple of decent saves. We need to remain positive. When I was at Dundee, we started the season exactly the same the opening five games without a win and we finished third so we know we can turn it round.”

Today’s results means Saints are now bottom of the table and the fans made their displeasure known during and after the match. The manager added: “I can understand people’s frustration, I’m as frustrated as anyone. This has got nothing to do with tactics, this is purely down to individuals who, unfortunately, are crumbling under a bit of pressure.”

The manager added: “I can understand people’s frustration, I’m as frustrated as anyone. This has got nothing to do with tactics, this is purely down to individuals who, unfortunately, are crumbling under a bit of pressure.”

  6. St Mirren manager Alex Rae was relieved to see his side make it to the last 16 of the IRN-BRU Cup this afternoon having fought back from a two goal deficit against Albion Rovers in Coatbridge.

He said after the match: “We’re just pleased to be in the next round. The positives are we have got Rocco [Quinn] some minutes and Gary [MacKenzie] some minutes and we had an opportunity to look at one or two things and we’ll assess over the next couple of days, when we watch the footage again, what we can take from it.”

Saints found themselves behind early and the manager is looking for better from his players. He said: “The fact of the matter is if you defend like that it leaves a lot to be desired. We need to do so much better. I’m not wanting to pull the wool over anybody’s eyes, it is nowhere near what we are looking for.

“It [the return of Quinn and MacKenzie making his debut] gives us options as obviously we are a wee bit short on the ground but we need to dig in because we are playing through a patch just now that is becoming difficult.”

Under-20 player Andrew McDonald had his first outing as a first team player. Alex said of McDonald: “We wanted to have a look at him as he done well through the week with the reserves [under-20 side] and it gave us an opportunity to see him.”

With the game going to extra-time it was a long debut outing for MacKenzie who also played through the week.

Alex said: “He played 75 minutes in the reserves the other day, we thought we may well have got it done by 90 minutes but obviously had to play another 30 which wasn’t ideal because it runs the risk of injury but it’s in the bank now and so that is a positive.”

  7. St Mirren scored a late equaliser today to get a share of the points against Ayr United at Somerset Park.

After the match St Mirren manager Alex Rae looked back on the ninety minutes. He said: “If you don’t defend a simple ball into the back post you’re going to become unstuck and we didn’t do that again. I want us to be a wee bit braver on the ball. It looks like we’re asking them to shell the ball and we done some stuff in the last couple of days about playing the lines because we felt as if we could get joy by doing that and we’re just shelling balls up. It’s just a wee bit of a [lack of] confidence – taking the easy option – but I’m pleased we got the point but it’s nowhere near acceptable.

“One of the things that gives you confidence is how you are playing yourself. When you’re getting on the ball and passing the ball. At no point have we told the boys to start shelling the ball. There’s the odd diagonal that might be effective when it is up to John Sutton but it becomes an easy option.

“We tried to utilise Ryan [Hardie’s] pace in behind and when we get the service into him he just sets it on a plate.

“We wanted to be brave. We played three at the back and wanted to try and take the game to Ayr.”
