As some of you may have seen on Twitter, a group of us are arranging a cup final display.

These things take up a lot of time and effort. We've had mixed success with these in the past, but confident we know what we're doing this time around!

We've made up a gofundme page, if you could spare a couple of quid, it would really help us to buy materials.

Would appreciate any comments, advice, suggestions or questions to get this show on the road!

if you remind me in  a few weeks I will donate a few quids... maybe it will be good maybe crap but at least you are trying.

  2. For that to be true you'd have to find 3,000 people who'd said the sole reason they turned up at Greenhill Rd and paid full adult price admission was to watch Stevie Mallan play. I'd doubt you'd find more than 30. The lad isn't a top drawer entertainer and he isn't a Messi, Ronaldo or even a Dalglish.

welll that is just counting ticket sales and ignoring any other match day income from them too(any merchandising sales, programmes and other nonsense), over the course of however long mallan stays at saint mirren, it isn't that far fetched at all, its around 90 people a game for two seasons. Goals encourage people to go to games and also stop them from not showing up at games too.. Also you would have to add in the improved league postition and cup games that his goals and performances have helped, prize money and so on.. I really don't think it adds up to sell this guy for 60,000 quid.

  3. I wasn't there but the accounts I heard was that St Mirren didn't control the midfield. I've conceded previously Mallan can score from free kicks and penalties but he'll have to improve his midfield work rate and ability many times over before I'd see him compared anywhere near favourably to the likes of Billy Stark, Tony Fitzpatrick, Lex Richardson, Billy Abercrombie or even Dougie Bell. I still say £60k was a great price. St Mirren should have sold

not that i watch too many games anymore, seen a few though, you could well be right about how good mallan will turn out to be but I think you are way off by saying 60,000 was a great offer.. goals win games and bring fans in(although not so much in scottish football), I do think mallan is worth more to saint mirren than 60,000, his goals have gained points and people really do like to see impressive looking goals which mallan seems to be scoring this season, so I would suspect his goals have helped attendences too.. I would guess that if you did some calculations it would not make good sense to sell mallan for that price ...

  4. He was playing in the 2nd tier of malaysian football, that can't be a good standard... 28 goals is pretty good though but still, it's not even the top league in malaysia.

Although if Mehmet was available on an affordable wage I'd want him back in paisley he was never great but still pretty handy.

  5. A team the size of saint mirren thatis in a location like paisley, considering the current climate of world football... I don't see any interesting profit being made for business men so unless there is some crazy rich man out there who feels like wasting money I dont think saint mirren will be going to the ownership of someone with good intentions for the club...I am very apprehensive about the sale but I guess it has to happen

  6. His goal to game ratio is as good as Billy McKay had before joining ICT. I bet many of us had never heard of Billy McKay.

He is a good age and has a lot to prove. Seems like his career has been hampered by injuries. I'd rather take a chance on a young tall striker who has played in the English Championship than Imrie or Harkins.

He is only on trial too... so if he is signed I would guess he impressed the coaching staff and that'd be good enough for me !

  7. let me think... my journey back to scotland started on friday(well on thurday the 8th of march really but that is going too far back)

so I was in minnesota on friday taking the long and cheap way back to scotland... the travel plan was to fly to chicago then london heahthrow, bus to gatwick then finally fly to glasgow. So my friend drove me to the airport in saint paul at about 1pm american time, the plane was at 3.55, got there earlier to drink before flying as I dont like it at all but it had decided to start snowing that day and conditions in chicago were bad so the flight ended up being delayed for 6 hours and it was close to midnight by the time i finally got to chicago, I had a cheap hotel booked but I was leaving early so I decided to just sleep at the airport.

I didnt really sleep at all...so they opened check in and security went through the gates so I could start drinking(it was about 5am on saturday by this time, american time again) so i proceed to get very drunk this time, the cuban server gave me some free brandy which was rather effective... made it to the plane and i was totally out of it slept for about 2 hours I think and i woke up with visions of me rambling to the guy sitting next to me and him looking terrified, I am a bit worried what i said to him....Stopped drinking after that as I was feeling very hungover plane landed on time in london 10.40 pm, It was cheap :S, so I hung around at heathrow untill 2am and took the bus to gatwick, once again it worked out a lot cheaper doing it this way), snoozed a bit on the bus and made it to gatwick at 4 am or something.. flight to glasgow at 7 and i saw some jambos on the plane..... so about 8.45 am got a lift to my uncles house slept for about an hour there then headed off to glasgow..

    11am headed to glasgow

1.30 pm train to mount florida

3pm cup final... not bad !

5 something pm headed back to bishopton and went straight to bed ...
