For me, it’s more about the progress. We know things are too expensive & have changed our operating model to be more cost effective. Don’t think anyone expected we’d be able to fully implement that in one year, after last years results. The results show we aren’t the finished article but it’s a big step in the right direction. It’ll probably be two or three seasons of work behind the scenes before we are fully in a position to take the sort of hits that would come with a poor season. These changes are rarely (if ever) instant. Overall, these results for me say that we have been able to take a far bigger than expected step in the right direction, because we had such a strong season.

So, was the correction correct or incorrect? It was correct. My issue has never been with that. It’s the holding up the game. VAR doesn’t add (close to) enough value to take away what makes football the best sport in the world. It’s free flowing nature. I’ve made this clear so many times.
