SamSmith99 reacted to ALBIONSAINT in Saints v Sellick CupI must have been at a different game from some of the posters on here? We played some great pressing football today against a team with a budget that out strips ours by a country mile. We put their ex-England and Man City keeper under severe pressure with shots and multiple corners and our defence on the whole managed to contain two Japan internationalists, while our midfield battle against players who are used to playing in top European teams. Some folks on here are starting to sound like old firm fans.

SamSmith99 reacted to Swiss_Saint in Speculation ThreadIs that how it works, amazing , you mean he can score in any game given the right service wow.
p.s. the sarcasm isn't aimed at you but the people who are very negative
last 5 results
win 3-0 v Aberdeen
Loss 0-3 v Celtic - no great surprise there
win 1-0 v QoTS - should have been more but we will take it
loss 0-1 v Rangers - should have been at least a draw, Newco Rangers felt the need to time waste such was their lack of domination
win 3-0 v Hibs - dominant all game and good goals (penalty was soft), could have been more
so 7 goals in 5 games, 2 losses both of which we would normally expect and 2 dominant displays against teams who on paper (bigger support, more money etc) we should struggle against. Yet we still have people who are talking us down.
Enjoy the highs folks and quit moaning, best Saints side for a long time, if you are down now wont be long till you are suicidal based on my 50 years of supporting Saints, I have watched some dross.

I agree. We totally dominated possession; it's the first game back after the winter break. We're in the hat and that's all that matters.

SamSmith99 reacted to JJ McG in Speculation ThreadThe 1’s that give Baccus stick are the 1’s that don’t really know much about football, quite a few of them amongst our support.

SamSmith99 reacted to exiledfan in Aberdeen away (Dec 30th)Wow just wow. Reminder we are a good team who went through a sticky patch rather than a poor team that went through a lucky stint. Bring on Celtic.

SamSmith99 reacted to Wilbur in Aberdeen away (Dec 30th)Well, what about that !
To all those who travelled up to Aberdeen today, mega-respect. You deserve this result.
To all the negative doom-merchants on this site, well GIRFUY.

SamSmith99 reacted to munoz in St Mirren v Kilmarnock SPFL PREMIERSHIP 27/12/23We're on a bad run and confidence is obviously low, but this group of players and management are the same ones getting all the plaudits earlier in the season. Getting rid of half the squad isn't always the answer when a team is struggling.

That argument relies on the current bottom six winning enough points to overtake us which is unlikely.
The last 4 full season third place team has won either 17,18 or 19 matches.
The relegated team has won 5,6,7 & 8 in that period.
The play off team has won 8,9 & 10 in that period.
The teams from 4th to 10th always win roughly 10-14 matches.
We have already won 6 matches in 16 everyone below us has won 2-5 considering they are only likely to win another 5 each until end of season pretty sure we'll still be easily be top 6 come winter break as one of them would really need 3/4 victories in 6 matches remaining in December for us to be rooted to bottom 6 that isn't going to happen.

"All the good work will be as good as gone"we are 5 points clear of team in 7th place who upon checking are away at Aberdeen & Livingston and home to Celtic next 3 games so very good chance we will still be well in top 6 at end of this busy month.
I say this every year but no matter what teams are involved the amount of wins, draws and defeats stays very very similar each season the fact we are 2/3 victories more than most teams already suggests that if we keep ticking along the odd win here and there the 9 teams below us won't win enough matches to overtake us pre split.

SamSmith99 reacted to Ronnie in St Mirren v Livingston SPFL Premiership 25/11/23For a team going into December in third place alot of negativity on here.
Heard Mark Wilson have a go at the Celtic fans moaning on Radio yesterday his words were look at every Championship win from any team and you have bad days dotted throughout the season including wee spells of two, three or four matches in a row where you just struggle for one reason or another but you just overcome it.
We are struggling a little performance wise but not effort wise, we are punching above our wait and the sharks are circling below us.
We have a tough run of games in December but still have 3 at home keep our good home record up and we'll be fine for top 6 and even higher this time.

SamSmith99 reacted to FTOF in St Mirren v Livingston SPFL Premiership 25/11/23So now we're apparently shit.
More like our "supporters" are shit and have extremely short memories.
Didn't take long for the usual suspects to start their mind numbing negativity.

Miles better, thankfully, than seasons gone past.

SamSmith99 reacted to billyg in Message to ALL St Mirren ShareholdersWhat's that got to do with anything , that kind of scenario happens the world over ? That kind of attitude is why Todd and Corson were too small-time for Fergie , and the "we are all St Mirren supporters on the BOD" days are gone at most clubs forever. It was Gillespie who negotiated the deal to bring in SR , do you think it even crossed Robinson's mind that Gillespie didn't support the club growing up ? It's such a narrow minded outlook , much the same as Wardrop's , childlike even !

And the wee man won the cakes at half time perfect Saturday all round.

SamSmith99 reacted to billyg in Explosive Smisa applicationWhich couldn't have been passed anyway without 100% Board approval. AW stirred up a hornets nest because he thinks he's relevant , when he clearly isn't ! IMO

And again….
Very acceptable to draw away from home -
SamSmith99 reacted to billyg in Kibble Hit The Headlines“We believe we’ve done all we can to keep Stephen. We’ve backed him in the transfer window as much as we possibly could and he works very well with Jim Gillespie and Keith Lasley on the football board.
Hi Chris , just highlighting this quote from JN from last week , it seems that Kibble and the playing side are very much linked, I've also read that SR credits Gillespie with being "switched on" to what's needed to bring success. Sure , Kibble can't overstep the mark within the BOD, and if they have , it can't happen again , but , as I said before , we don't want to shoot ourselves in the foot , like we have done historically , when things are looking up on the pitch. This needs put to bed , quietly, so we can move on with what really matters , and some of the snipers on the fringes of the club need to get over their self-importance and remember it's not all about them !
-
SamSmith99 reacted to billyg in Explosive Smisa applicationAs John Needham said tonight , the working relationship between Smisa and Kibble on the BOD is great , and the improvement in financial performance , turnover and the club in general is testament to that. AW is still the fly in the ointment here , because it appears that in his eyes , it's still all about him !

Forfar can top the group if they win big tonight, but the likelihood is that we win both our games, we win the group.

SamSmith99 reacted to turrabuddie in Season ticketsWell, I’ve bitten the bullet, and while renewing my son’s ST, I’ve gone and got myself one too.
Started supporting the Buddies back in the Fergie days in the 70’s, so it’s taken a while to finally commit, and while I’m not sure I’ll actually attend more matches than any other season,, I’m glad I’ve done it.
COYS !!
